Naval access through straits (like Gibraltar and the Denmark strait) is complicated. To gain naval access you need to either: -Have full control of both sides through yourself or an ally -Have full control of one side, and be at peace with the controller of the other side -Not be at war at all If you only have control of one side, but are at war with the controller of the other side, ONLY submarines may pass throught the strait. Any and all surface ships will be blocked. So, to prevent a 14:30 scenario from occuring, you have 2 options: 1. Build a massive submarine fleet, and sail your maeery way throught the contested waters 2. Put your fleet outside of the mediteranian before the war starts Number 2 wouldn't have been possible in your case, so you should try to keep some subs in reserve to fall back to option 1.

Played this mod yesterday and had a blast. Going communist, forgot to federalize but got 100% stability anyway. Keep Gorkic and didn't sent him to Stalin. Joined Comintern anyway. United and cored the whole Balkans as my cores including Edirne and Istanbul, puppeted a bunch of Central African nations after Germany annexed Vichy France (didn't have LaR), keeping Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary as my puppets.
