People are quick to assume quality from the studios they know, without knowing that the study they know may exist only in name. "It's from X developer, that's an instant buy/preorder from me," is a common phrase that needs to die. Hell, you can't even expect the same quality from the people themselves. I remember part of the point with Respawn was that the old gang from Infinity Ward would create a studio that wasn't on a leash like their previous had been to Activision. EA was there to publish and market the game without direct ownership of the IP. It feels like it'd be logical for them not to release a competing game next to one of their own. It's difficult to imagine but I wonder if more influence from EA for that particular area (where you'd assume they have their actual expertise) would've been beneficial.

That’s two of their own games competing against each other. Unless EA was trying to push Titanfall out, but why self sabotage like that? I've said for a long time that Titanfall's biggest setback was that the first game was an XBox exclusive... and even though the 2nd game was multiplatform, the first game was never made available to what would have been its biggest potential audience, on PlayStation. I've seen lots of folks who never bothered with the 2nd game because that hadn't played the first. I got Titanfall 2 at-launch for PS4, and withing weeks I was playing with, and seeing the same players in every other match. The players who were there were loyal, but pool of players just wasn't very vast. It wasnt until it first got given away as a monthly PS+ game that I saw a big influx of new players , most of whom had no idea how amazing of a game Titanfall 2 was. To this day there isn't a Titanfall 1 port on Sony consoles...

I got it 2 years ago, played it for 20 hours, was dominating lobbies somehow and got bored, a year later started again and sunk another 200 hours into it. I played mostly with kraber, it's one of the most fun weapons ever put into a game, right next to the bolt action rifle from the cycle battle royale which is now lost media.

When I first played Effect and Cause, I saw the prompt that said "press M2 to time travel", and just laughed. I thought it was so stupid, like COD's "press F to pay respects". But then I actually played the level, and I felt ashamed for laughing at it. Genuinely the best FPS mission I've ever played. I should have gave the game the respect it deserved. Titanfall 2 is fucking awesome.

Dishonored 2 has a mission very similar to this which also works really well. But it's generally focussed on being more stealth based

One thing I think a lot of people overlook is that the first game was xbox/pc exclusive (even I didn't know until I just looked it up, that the game was on PC too), and I swear they put 0 effort into getting word out that the second one would release on all platforms

I just did a quick search for trailers and there were plenty and on known major channels. Although not all mention the platforms, some do, and it released for all of them at the same time. It failed because your average person likes shit and they preferred to play COD and BF.

I loved the og titanfall. I got to prestige 10 even though I had no other friends who played it, and I never got that high in any CoD game. I never did get titanfall 2 though because I figured none of my friends would get it so why bother. Sadly I was right and I’ve been waiting ever since for the titanfall 3 that would be as big as halo 3 was :(

I really kinda want them to go revive BT using his AI core, probably floating in space. Like imagine... Cooper's son is the protagonist and he learns about BT, cause someone on a spaceship found a AI core floating in space. They identified it as BT-7247, and try to repair it.

You didn't even mention the best aspect of Titanfall in my opinion: The enemy AI is actually really good and scary. I came into this game expecting a COD like shooter where you shoot a few ppl, then take cover to heal and repeat. I wasn't ready to be charged, overwhelmed and murdered immediately upon trying that strategy. If you're on low health, the enemies become aggressive af because they smell your blood. Finishing this game on the highest difficulty was a genuine achievement, mostly due to the aggressive AI.
