I Forged A Knife! At Oldfield Forge.
For my birthday last year my Fam bought me a knife forging experience at Oldfield Forge in Herefordshire. Me being a big fan of Forged In Fire I didn't want to wait too long to claim my birthday present. So it was time the missus and me went on a roadtrip.
I've got some walnut scales and Corby bolts on order to make a handle for it next.

Excellent knife, practical shape, well done. Look forward to seeing the finished product. La Cuchilla (The Knife) PS. Keen watchers of Forged in Fire 🔥.

Amazing first forge! I started into the trade exactly the same way (but as a hobby). My wife sent me for a weekend course for a Christmas present 5 years ago and I'm still hammering! I'm teaching myself from online videos like yours and I am hooked LOL. I thought I had enough tools from being a mechanic but apparently there's way more tools to buy/make. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Enjoy!

I loved doing it. But it did make my old tennis elbow injury to resurface which is still bothering me 7 months later. I’m thinking about making another blade using the stock removal method. I’ve bought some 1095 steel to make it with.
Well done Rob! Glad you had a good time!

Going to be ordering a flat bar of 1095 soon.
Brilliant mate, I am envious… something I’ve always wanted to do,👍👍😁😁 I like a scandi grind but Flat grind will be good for food processing so a good all rounder when you are out on camp. I look forward to seeing you put some scales in it. 👍 I had a go at making my own leather sheath a while ago, are going to do that as well ?

Cheers Rob. Yeah the fam came up with a good birthday present there. I’m thinking of walnut scales and I might have a go making a sheath for it. Go the whole hog with it.
Nice one 👍🏼
