One of John Landis' trademarks is that he would get other directors to do cameos in his movies. For this one, he got George Lucas, Joe Dante, and John Singleton among a couple others.

Saw this in the theater when it came out on opening weekend. I also saw Beverly Hills Cop II in the theater on opening weekend. I remember for II, we were lucky to get tickets for the showing, the theater was packed. For III, the theater was half full at best. I missed Taggert and Bogomil. I hated that they built up Bogomil as Axel's friend in part II, a guy Axel came to Califrnia and had fishing trips with, Axel had become like a good family friend, he knew Bogomil's daughter and everything and then in part III, he's not even mentioned and Axel had lost touch with everyone he knew in Beverly Hills. Also, I wondered if they had brought Paul Reiser's character, Jeffrey, back and HE had been the one who had been killed at the beginning of the movie... if it might have made for a better story. I liked Inspector Todd as Axel's boss and the one always getting pissed at Axel for going to Beverly Hills to solve crimes. Jeffrey was more Axel's friend, though, and was just this likable screw-up in the first two movies. To see him get killed in part III would have been shocking and maybe make me more invested, though the Wonder World stuff would still be stupid. Wonder World could have worked if Axel had to go there ONCE looking for clues and had ONE comedy-action scene there. But making it the center of the story didn't work for me. I was incredibly disappointed in this movie. My opinion is it's bad because I got really bored for long stretches. The action was bland and there were no surprises with the comedy, it was just acting silly, and you could see where it was going the whole time. A really bad movie can still be entertaining in a "so bad it's good" way. But boring... there's no entertainment value, so why watch it?

You are right about how slapstick Landis can get with his direction so yea, the costume disguise is something in his usual box of directorial tricks.

@@FlixTalk I actually enjoyed the 3rd Superman. Sure it has its problems and a couple of parts that just makes you want to do a facepalm, but overall an entertaining movie that just allows you to shut off your brain and enjoy. Now Superman 4. That one might actually break you. It had good bones, but suffered from having their budget slashed dramatically that really showed with the special effects and a few parts that just makes you wonder what the hell they were thinking.

BHC3 isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be, Eddie has made worse movies than this. But as it stands it is a very weak Beverly Hills Cop movie. The problems I have with it are as follows. 1. It looks cheap, despite costing $70million I don’t know what it is but the action is very flat and low key. The cinematography is also very made for T.V too. 2. Eddie has some funny moments here and there but there’s a lack of energy and enthusiasm on his part. 3. Taggart’s absence is felt. 4. The movie’s tone is also allover the map, the silly family stuff at the park really doesn’t fit and is not warranted. (i.e The dancing on the stage at wonderworld and Eddie pushing the kid in the fountain, stuff like that that could’ve been removed.) 5. Lack of an iconic opening credits, in fact there are none! Not to mention a lack of memorable music.

I love the second movie. The third movie is considered a bad movie. One of the problems is John Asherton, Taggert. Isn’t in the movie. He didn’t like the script of the movie. The Coming to America director did this movie. He doesn’t do action well.
