That can actually happen on a small scale depending on spinal decompression and compression! Over the course of a couple of years, doctors continued to write my height as anywhere between five foot seven and five foot eight, with no real explanation. I finally started taking my own height at home and it would fluctuate almost an inch over the course of weeks to months. Mostly depending on how I slept and sat I think lol. But extreme fluctuations would be pretty horrifying.

I have the solution for you Drew! In the movie Gattaca, the main character Vincent needs to get taller so he can be an astronaut, so he breaks his legs and braces the bones a couple inches apart so that they healing bones grow towards each other and meet in the middle. This actually works, taking advantage of body's natural healing functions. Can't wait for the video where you do it!

He went from being a little bit under 6 feet tall to 6’3” in a matter of months after going off gluten. Turns out he had coeliac disease and didn’t know it, so going off gluten helped him grow I guess. I work 3-11 and sometimes later. That part where Drew talks about staying up late and your productivity really hit home. Word for word. It could not have been said better. It’s a constant battle between feeling like you never have enough time while still trying to stay up late enough that you won’t be tired while working. I feel like this schedule would have worked better if I was younger. Eventually it makes being a functioning adult harder. The personal disconnect is real

Ok here’s the thing, my mom gained a couple inches after she had scoliosis surgery. She has two titanium rods and 30 screws making her back straighter, and noticeably grew in height. Like two inches. So if you’re willing to put down the thousands of dollars to straighten your back out and not be able to do lots of stretches anymore, go get that scoliosis fixed. That’ll give you the inch you need to finally be handsome.

So did I! I grew 3"!!! Then, about seven years later, one of the bastard rods snapped, and I endured the worst month of my life as I was misdiagnosed with various things because 'titanium doesn't break'. I had all the metalwork removed, leaving me with an even more impressive scar than before, and I kept the height. Now, years later, my back hurts like a mofo, but the good news is I get amazing pain relief, and EVERYTHING is/was free, because I live in the UK. And I had a long peacock feather tattooed - in tasteful black - all along the scar. That hardly hurt at all, because of the nerve damage sustained under the surgeon's knife, so; clouds and silver linings, I suppose.

If Drew hadn't knocked his progress off course by watching Velma, things would've ended differently. A lot of the "advice" for growing taller just seems like posture correction. A couple years ago, I bought a little posture correcting brace and made it a point to do stretches and exercises to straighten out a small hunch I'd had for years. I visited my parents after having not seen them in a couple years, and my mom kept commenting how I seemed a little taller, so I measured myself and it turned out I'd "grown" like an inch. Obviously most of this stuff relies on kids buying into the idea that correlation is causation and not understanding that regular growth and growth spurts are a thing, but it seems like some of the advice also just relies on improving posture and misdirecting the audience into believing it's "growth" and not just ironing out a little kink.
