He was like “yeah, nah don’t worry bout it” 🤣
That looked like fun. The closest I'll get to that is with MS FS2020! Having Michael as 1ST Officer must have taken a lot of stress out of the flight, and it was no doubt great to have a companion for that leg. Looking forward to the next chapter. 👍

Was SO good to have Michael onboard for the flight over. I always wanted to do my first overseas flight in EYZ with Michael onboard.
Awesome. As a SEA based pilot it's great to see some cross border content in the region. Hope to do those trips once i got my plane built.
Michael Smith - Australian Geographic's Adventurer of the Year. Yes - I purchased his book.
I'm blown away buy the incredible blue on your departure. Great to see Michael back on here again. Such a cool bloke. Definitely can't wait for ep 3.
So cool you finally got eyz out of Australia, and you got to hang out with the MAF guys, they are awesome.
Man how I miss East Timor. Was there for 6 months in 2003. What an amazing country and people.
Hi Stefan, I miss East Timor. Thanks for your vlog. It brought me loads of memories. Greetings form the Philippines

That must have been an amazing experience! Great content, love to see more from flying in East Timor as well! 👍🏼
I've landed an Airbus 320 into Dili a few times. Pretty nerve wracking yet exciting at the same time while circling to land there.
Thank you Stef for sharing such wonderful videos. You have a wonderful story telling and video editing skill which kept me glued till the end. All the best and waiting for your next chapters
Mate this is a great video. Probably one of your best. I will come back to this a couple of times I am sure.
Wow! another great video! I haven't seen Michael for ages.... great to see him giving you the benefit of his amazing experience. What an amazing flight! I would love to do a flight like that sometime
A great video and also great preparation for the around the world flight. So informative to see how to prepare for a GA flight to another country . Thanks Stef and Michael.
Nice mate! Can't wait to see you fly and document your trip around the world one day.
Great video, It is great to see you and EYZ getting out and about, looking foward to the next leg

this is why we learn to fly! great video and series.
As always, a wonderful presentation. Stef, you are so easy going. From Niko to Michael, you get along so well with the people that fly with you.
Thanks for that! So cool to see something about East Timor. I only seem to visit Bali and really need to explore the area more. Great work!
Just fabulous!! 🥰🥰🥰
I'm going to have to be a complete avgeek and follow your progress with X-plane. Nice one Stef!
Wow, so many congratulations on this achievement!
Tour videos have become short films. Extremely well made! Incredible flight and story telling
All flights are magic. Some are more magical than others. ❤️
This is the sorta stuff I'm looking forward to. Just sittin back and enjoying time in the air with buddies that share the same love for the air :)
Great video (as always) Stef - and Michael is such a nice guy. I came second to him in a around Tasmania flight a few years ago - he was flying his single engine "Tinnie with wings" and I was in a RV10. He is very giving with his time, and his son is an exact reflection of him. Looking forward to when you head overseas again Stef
Well this is awesome... it's also reminded me of all the travel content that must exist on youtube, so thanks for that inspiration also!
Excellent Stefan 👏👏
Amazing video, having Michael on board definitely given you a lot of confidence.
Fantastic video, thank you
That's an awesome achievement! I'm based in the east of the england so I can get over to France in less than an hours flight, and I still haven't done it myself! I really need to pull my finger out. Looks like an awesome flight Stef - looking forward to the next episode!
Hi Stef, great to have Michael along as someone that has done a lot of international travel, makes the first trip so much easier. Have not see Michael for a few years now, met him in the UK on his round world and here in Perth. As you know his a great guy. As you will appreciate, I did a circumnavigation of Oz with my 14 year old daughter some years back now in just two weeks 😁 Question. What were the costs at Pearl and I noticed no ASIC cards at Darwin 😉
good to see you flying, and enjoying the process

I think I was as excited as you when you landed at Dili . Great video you might start a trend.
Wow ! Brings back memories of landing there in 2000 with the ADF
Beautiful scenery, and love the MAH guy jumping in for a photo bomb :)
Can’t wait to do this one day! Just saving up for my RPL now
Awesome work
Excellent to see you flying, crossing international borders. I flew to Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal in Septembre and you're struggle with the authorities reminds me of similar issue back then. I guess this trip is your training for your eventual round the world trip.
how exciting

Nice mate. An inspiration for sure. I'd love to fly over and intoTimor 🇹🇱. (Diak los!)
Great video to watch as always... it was actually my 18th birthday today which was really exciting!
Lovely video. I grew up in West Timor, in the hills above Kupang and would visit East Timor when it was all one country. Back in the day you could catch a commercial jet from Kupang in West Timor to Darwin directly. Nowadays I believe you have to fly from Kupang to Denpasar Bali, before the last leg to Australia.
keen for the next episode and the one on your 2nd channel!
Good onya Stefan! Well done on pushing your personal boundaries and you had great company into Timor. Geez were you nervous at all topping up your tanks with fuel from the drum? Was it a new drum? Did you guys do a quick visual quality check for any water contamination prior to adding it to EYZ? Love your enthusiasm and inspiration as an aviator 👍
Hop to the top!!! That would be a scary trip.
Good to see Mike Smith back on the job. Try not to alight on water Mike!
YES!! I was waiting for this video! I am currently working towards my pilots license in the Hunter Valley and this is my dream! Keep up the good videos mate!

I was in Dili in 1999 as part of INTERFET. Would love to go back again under different circumstances.
I flew into Dili many times from Kupang as pilog with a "defuncf cowboy Airline called Zamrud.".we were alwayx over l.oaded with 3 pax in two seats in ageing DC-3's with regular.engine failures .....including one ditching! I flew with famous U.S pilot Jack Rife...well known in Indonesia!
This is so damn cool
YOU MADE IT OUT OF AUS! Woo! \o/

Ping! What a guy
Wow
This is the content I am after!
Pretty much dropped everything to watch this when it came out

I'm grateful for that, thanks Lucien. Enjoy.
Hiya Mike!
Congratulations on this wonderful adventure, and your first flight outside Australia in EYZ! I'm sure you were beyond gliding distance for a good bit of the way. Could you talk about the gear you had on board in case of ditching? Also, did you experience that sensation pilots often talk about of hearing the engine make some strange sounds as soon as you get well offshore?

9:11 omg that seat belt is in the instant death position
Hi, nice video. I'm from Indonesia. Do you have a plan to fly into Indonesia? Would be nice to see that video.
Haha, the vegan sticker on Stef, love it :D
Cobgratulations Gents
Just wondering - if you have an onboard toilet too?
Sorry if I missed it but how long was your flight?
Hey Stef if you want to travel to Israel, I can assist you with the procedures, the Light sport AOPA would be happy to invite you to fly and see the sights
I see that closed caption has as much trouble understanding Australian as I do.
When is echo Yankee Zulu going to the republic of bali?
I hope your videos get more views. At some point, probably would be good to have The Candourist on board as well.. Trans Tasman Collaboration
@stefandrury - you should do a video on how hard it is to rent planes (after PPL) and the requirements. Seems there are no diamonds at all to rent once you get PPL and Cirrus planes require huge hours (circa 200++) and certifications due to their current costs... Buying a plane in todays world seems cost prohibitive unless its a experimental or circa year 2000 or earlier.. umm
@StefanDrury

That's a good idea for a video, thanks!
@smokingspitfire1197
Жыл бұрын
Why do you need Diamonds or Cirrus? Pre-2000 airplanes are still perfectly safe and alot of fun to fly. I think your attitude to older aircraft might be what is prohibitive to your flying! Cirrus' are nice, of course they are, but you gotta be able to afford that big ol' price tag if you want that. You can get an equally highly equipped PA-28 Arrow or Bonanza for half the price and a Cherokee for even less. Not to mention you can go into share ownership if you aren't intending to use the plane daily.
Question, can I be a pilot if I only have hearing in one ear?
13:10 Surely you're not meant to spray that whilst in the aircraft ?
Did you say MAF????? You would perhaps know Bill Harding then?
"We do it for all our customers in Darwin." Geez, way to spoil a man's moment.
10:40 That nosewheel looked a bit dodgy for a moment.
