I Finally Watched Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal.. and it was AMAZING

Комедия

Yup.. I finally did it. I’m two years late, but better late then never. Especially when talking about a show as great as this one! As the self proclaimed biggest fan of Samurai Jack, I always knew I was going to have to watch this show someday. But man was I surprised with it! This show has quickly become one of my favorite shows!
I really hope you enjoy this review/recap hybrid video! It was another passion project in every sense of the word!
God bless Genndy Tartakovsky. I can’t wait for season 2.

Wanna hear something interesting? The show went on a bit of a hiatus for a year after the 5th episode. But they did a surprise airing of the 7th episode, Plague Of Madness, on April Fool’s day. Why? That was the year the global pandemic started and everyone was getting political about it, so it seemed like a good time. When that happened, everyone was wondering if it was canon or if it was a joke episode given the current situation.

Cable TV is still my go-to for video via DVR time-shifting. "Streaming video"? Naah, if you only watch content from a few sources, I get to the "did I see this before and do I want to see it again?" problem. I also looked at "Primal" on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from #5-#10. With On Demand, I looked at episode 1 to see how Spear and Fang became traveling companions. As for #2-#4, I'll get back to them...soon.

Is it set in the past? They've actually made it possible, through their brilliant writing, that it could be set in the far future. The episode that introduces Mira the escaped slave obviously comes from a bronze age nation. They've got basic navigation, metal working, language, written language, and religion. That's a whole lot to have when dinosaurs were walking around. They could easily have an episode where they walk through futuristic ruins, or past Mount Rushmore (with a lot of wear but still recognizable).

ok sorry maybe im in the wrong but like if those mammoths cared for that one old and weak one as much as they claim, they fought and probably a couple of them died to avenge its death, and they all caressed its tusk and they all cried and did their dance thing if they truly cared for it as much as they show at the end then why did they leave him behind? they could have had him walk up front to make sure no one gets left behind. but they just left him and forgot about him for god knows how long. i mean spear and fangs footprints were still there in the snow in a blizzard so it probably didnt take that long but it still took long enough for it to fall way way way behind in the first place and long enough for spear and fang to kill it and harvest all of its meat and pelt. so idk maybe i have the wrong thought process about this but like really if yall cared enough about your friend you wouldnt have left him in the first place

  • @samuraitanner

That is an incredible observation that I definitely didn’t think about! I believe the mammoth likely fell behind at some point during the worst of the blizzard and they couldn’t see him. So I personally don’t think they left him behind intentionally. As for the fight, I don’t recall any of them dying, although it’s very very possible and I’ll have look into that! Overall an absolutely valid analysis/criticism for that episode! Thank you for sharing! Never feel bad about sharing thoughts like this! I love to hear them and think deeper about shows like this!!

@@samuraitanner I don't think they left him behind intentionally either I just feel like mammoths are INCREDIBLY intelligent animals and they knew he was old and weak and dying. They knew he was maybe probably gonna fall behind. They should have looked out more often or had him travel up front. They could have just done a better job and protecting him/her in the first place. I don't think it was on purpose i just think they were being accidentally neglectful. And I'm not sure any of the herd died when they were fighting Spear and fang, they fking destroyed the two yahoos, but maybe one or two died off screen or something. Or maybe died later on from injuries, who knows
