I finally left Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 - STRESSFUL Border Crossing to Georgia [Ep.3]

ALL THE AZERBAIJAN VIDEOS: bit.ly/3WeMvO0
For the past three weeks, I have been traveling around Azerbaijan. After leaving Nakhchivan, I made a stopover in the capital city of Baku and then continued my journey to the historic town of Sheki. From Sheki, I plan to cross into Georgia on foot using the Northeast border crossing.

ABOUT ME:
In 2013, I started my solo travel journey, leaving Indonesia in 2016 to become a full-time traveller and KZread creator. My background in International Relations has fueled a profound interest in exploring different countries. My content focuses on exploring different cultures through the lens of a solo female traveller, aiming to capture real-life interactions and experiences.
My travels kicked off with a five-month trip across Asia, after which I moved to China in January 2017 to work as an English teacher-my first time living abroad. I left China in 2018 to fully commit to creating videos on KZread, where I share my travels and the cultures I encounter.
Living nomadically since 2016, I settled in England in early 2022 after marrying my British husband, David. Now based in the UK, I continue to travel and share my adventures on KZread.

ALL THE CAUCASUS VIDEOS: bit.ly/3WeMvO0 Here's the last video from Azerbaijan where I did a land-border crossing into Georgia. This experience felt very nerve-racking for me personally, but I was so proud of myself for doing it. This video illustrated the raw experience and reality of what it looked like to travel alone as a female to far-flung places. I was completely aware of the conflicts and the political sensitivity of this region. I would be naive not to think this would be an easy border-crossing. I researched heavily prior to my flight departure to Azerbaijan. I calculated every travel itinerary I had and decided to do Azerbaijan before Georgia then to Armenia. My Indonesia passport also played a huge rule of making it more difficult. An American/British/EU or similar kind passport holder wont go through such scrutiny. I still decided to go because I want to challenge myself and experience this firsthand. One wont grow if one always choose the easier and comfortable way. 🙂

@@SyifaAdriana All is well here, Syifa. Always looking out toward the horizon, planning my next trip. I had hoped to go to India, and get to film the Holi festival, but the logistics (and prices) are getting in my way. I have to give precedence to my local (commercial) jobs, which support my travel habits. LOL You truly amaze me with your stamina, staying on the road for such long periods, and doing it solo, which truly ads to the burden. I once commented to a travel companion how nice it was to have someone traveling with me, because with a companion, I can at least go to the rest room without carrying all my gear with me. (She was insulted! LOL)

@@theotherHOLLYWOOD I am glad to hear that Len. I think it's still nice that you can keep up with traveling once in a while. I definitely have noticed the increased flight and accommodation and it makes my job's sustainability a bit more concerning 😂 It's basically running business with expense and trying to make a profit not excluding the hours spent into traveling and editing. I have decided to invest in a video editor since end of last year and it has been great! I feel like I can have hobby again since traveling has become my job 😂 I think this stamina will only be possible if one travels slowly. I was in the Caucasus for 7 weeks and on the week 5th, I was so homesick. I miss sleeping in my own bed, but the show must go on. I think with my Indonesian passport, fulltime traveling as a job is more challenging as I do have a lot of visa restrictions. I agree with you how a simple trip to the toilet requires planning when you travel alone as no one is looking out for your equipment 🤣 So sad that your travel companion didn't see your comment as a compliment hahaha

The Persians of the Caucasus and the area around the Aras River were called Azerbaijanians. In 300 to 150 years ago, Russians and Ottomans (with Jewish teachers) changed their language to Turkish. Qafqazın və Araz çayı ətrafındakı farsları azərbaycanlılar adlandırırdılar. 300-150 il əvvəl ruslar və osmanlılar (yəhudi müəllimlərlə) dillərini türkcəyə dəyişdilər.

Fantastic Journey with great information for Border Crossing from Azerbaijan to Georgia. i am a Bicycle tourist and was looking for border crossing detail from Azerbaijan to Georgia, but no latest updates, and even on Social media that the border is closed. In July 2023, I am planning to Cycle from Baku to Georgia Kutaisi City Crossing Balakan Border. Is the border open to cross? and is there any official documents requirements you advise (like any permit / Show money / or any other document) that i must have while crossing the border at Balakan region? i confirmed from Georgia Consulate here in UAE, as i am a UAE resident and our visa is on Arrival at the airport in Georgia. Appreciate your prompt reply.

We managed to cross the border from Red Bridge today. It was just so stressful as I have an Armenian stamp and kept on asking a lot of questions about it. Also, they kind of think that I don’t look the same as my passport photo so they scan through all the stamps and visas on my passport.
