I finally bought my top 5 G.O.A.T fountain pens!

Ойын-сауық

It has been MANY years in the making to finally get this. I have been patiently waiting and now was the time. Maybe not financially responsible of me BUT worth it in the end I think!

    In turquoise? Did you perhaps mean Tortoise? Anyhow, so glad you are back. I love my celluloid 3776 Karakusa which I got as a covid consolation…and just before the price was jacked up to over $1000!

    That nib is no shrinking violet. The reason why the sleeve for the converter is narrower is to allow the wall thickness of the material of the section to be thicker as celluloid is not as robust as acrylic.

    Platinum 3776 in Celluloid!? oh, wow. Incredible beauty. I can only imagine the feel of it, writing, the touch, and the way the tactile sense flows over the paper. Congratulations. I would also like a fine, but "medium is fine" too. Thank you for this review, Kerry.

    I also just recently purchased a couple of 3776's. I had tried an SF nib a few years back and it was so bendy and smooth I fell in love (but sadly couldn't afford it) was finally able to get one recently and noticed that it is no longer as bendy and smooth. Maybe its just my pen? Learning to get used to it. Then purchased an F nib that I adore. So glad that I bought it. My eye is on the 3776 Sands of Komodo, but I just can't justify the Canadian price plus shipping. I shall admire her from afar. There seems to be a lack of videos from people purchasing that one, only a couple out.

    Cellushittingloid! --- It's a ripper and I want one! That classic torpedo shape is beyond improvement and harkens back to a golden age of vintage beauty and utility ; and--- who knew?!---the rounded ends are perfect for acupressure points when encountering writer's block 😚 . This pen transcends my expectations. Bless you.

    Several years ago, i picked up a 3776 Celulloid in Midnight Ocean Blue for $50! I think it must be fairly old as it won't take a converter. I can't find anything on cartridge only 3776s, but it came from Mexico, so maybe that's the difference? Congratulations on the new pen!

    I'm not sure why the converter sits differently, but I do have a question about it. With my 3776 one of the few things I don't love about it is that when I tap the side of the pen (or just pick it up quickly, etc.) I'll hear the converter click against the side of the barrel. Does that happen still with the celluloid model? Not something that bugs me enough to pay the cost of admission, but I'm curious.

    The walls of the celluloid are thicker. Perhaps this explains the differences you note.

  • @th3lib
    @th3lib3 ай бұрын

    I don't know for a fact, but my guess as to why the difference in the internal structure would be that the celluloid body needs to be thicker than the plastic/resin version for the same strength. I guess they did not want to change the external dimensions, so had to make the internal diameter of the barrel narrower and so had to change the structure to fit it all in there.
