Hi Sarah, would you be open to talking about what happens right after you give home birth? And how it differs from the way they do it in the hospital? I would be really interested🙈🙏🏻❤️

I wanted to tell you that I cried and cried when I watched your birth video the other day. It was so beautiful and brought back amazing memories of two of my water births. I’ve had all kinds, horrible hospital birth with tearing, better hospital birth with a family practice physician, emergency c-section, hospital water birth and a home water birth.

I wish kelowna had more midwives 😭they're already booked up. I want a home birth even more after watching her videos lol. My first baby (16 months old now ) I had to be induced cause I went 41 + 5 days..it was horrible. My husband and I had no sleep the days prior and the first stuff they tried made me bleed. Also had cord tight on his neck so I had to have an episiotomy. It all makes labor more painful (I've been told) so I'm praying this next time goes smoother 🙏

The shot actually has to do with YOUR blood type being negative, coupled with your partners being different (most likely positive), therefore highly recommended for the reasons you explained

But unlike the A/B/O portion of blood type, with natural antibodies to the opposite factor. A person with negative Rh doesn't have antibodies to the Rh factor until exposed to positive Rh blood. This is why most women in this situation don't have issues until after their first labor.

What Sarah is describing at about 8:30...yep. Totally a real thing. I had prodromal labor for 3 WEEKS off and on with my fourth kiddo, leading up to delivery at 38 weeks. I didn't get cervical checks so IDK if I dilated, but I lost pieces of my plug starting a week before labor. My clue to real labor- a total lack of energy and absolute grumpiness, felt like garbage way more than usual, hips hurt. Frustrated with it ALL. That night went to bed and 15 minutes later had THAT contraction.

I would really encourage you to try it! I never had a home birth but I did have my first one at a midwife center. Before I got pregnant I always thought I would have my first baby in a hospital and see if I could handle it and then maybe have the next with a midwife or something. But when I got pregnant I just decided to go for it. I’m so glad I did that because I never had that chance again. Whenever you do get pregnant, look into the Bradley Method of childbirthing. I found those classes are invaluable to having a nonmedicated labor. All the best to you!

It's only if mom is rh negative amd dad is rh positive that's why it's not a well known thing. Rh negative is a fairly rare blood type. If say your O negative and dad is O positive that's when there's an issue. This was the case with my mom and all her babies were the opposite blood type as her so that shot was very important.

A shot is only needed in a case of internal injury, as an emergency. And only when mom is an RH- and baby happens to be RH+. In my own experience, a midwife gives the rhogam shot after the baby has been born and their blood type tested through the umbilical cord. If the baby's is positive, only then you'd need one.

I didn’t have a good childhood, but I am and can continue to be a good parent. It is constant work though and I do still feel like a failure all the time. God does not give us what he won’t help us handle. I may not be able to work through my past on my own and be a good parent, I don’t know how I would do with that. I do know that He constantly strengthens me and gives me patience and wisdom for the moment. And when I fail he helps me to not hate myself but just get up and change what needs to change. Slow and steady progress.

BC must have different regulations on birth in tubs, in Ontario you are not allowed to birth in the tub unless you have a proper birth pool, they consider it unsanitary. It's really unfortunate, birth pools, even just to rent are a huge cost.

Just food for thought. Your body won’t actually hurt the baby unless there was trauma done to your womb and both you and Baby’s blood mix. So that shot is only for emergency situations, which is extremely rare, and you can test baby’s blood type in utero ☺️ What I’m saying is, scientifically speaking, it’s unnecessary

Exactly. In my experience, a midwife only gives the rhogam shot after the baby has been born and their blood type tested through the umbilical cord. If the baby's is positive, only then you'd need one.

It’s an easy shot and you don’t always know if your blood mixed. In the past many women had a miscarriage because of blood incompatibility

@@katew3818 I recommend you looking into the side effects and adverse reactions from it. I happen to know quite a bit of women who have had issues with their baby, pregnancy and overall health. I’m a doula, and I also encourage moms to really know each procedures, risks, benefits, etc. “Easy” shouldn’t be a reason to get a medical treatment, in my opinion, especially not when risk to your unborn infant is a possibility.

@@olgapotapova218 I’ve seen that too, and that definitely is better if you choose to get it, but even so, unless there is trauma, your body will not harm your baby. (:

I've had to get a rhogam shot too with my past 2 pregnancies, my first had my blood type and my second had my husband's blood type. Baby #3 will be here in about 5 weeks and we'll see what they have 🤷‍♀️

I am also Rh- . The shot I got was called WinRho, which was invented in Winnipeg (I’m from Manitoba). It just went in my arm, not my butt 🤪 For those hemorrhoids you could try the Earth Mama Organic Perineal Balm. I used that after a couple of my babes and it really worked and felt soothing.
