You need to remember that if your ball is in the rough, second cut or sand your distance will have a penalty adjusted to it. It may be 5% for rough, 8% for second cut and 10% for sand, depending on how your device is setup. Also helps to have a dot in the center of the screen for alignment. imho

Yup. A 75 yard shot with a 10% penalty is more like an 82 yard shot. He keeps coming up like 5 yards short and it's definitely that.

need to calibrate and align the trackman including the screen offset. Then put tape on the floor to indicate the precise TM position and indicate on screen or floor where it is aligned as the center. They are sensitive to moving once a center line is set and you need to recalibrate and test before doing anything that requires precision like one of these tournament rounds.

Medinah country club just outside of Chicago. I was fortunate enough to get to hit a couple practice shots there once when we came into pickup the stands after the Ryder cup. It’s a beautiful place.

When you said Indiana made me think you guys should take a trip up here when the weather breaks. Play a few of the courses on the Pete Dye trail. A lot of fun and quite the challenge!

Hey Micah, you and the GG boys should look at getting some of the ProV1 RCT balls for the Trackman if you haven’t already. They have a special reflective layer that helps the Trackman radar get a way more accurate spin reading every time. With how fast your ball speeds are and how strong your push-draw is, the Trackman can’t accurately estimate ball flight and that’s probably why you’re getting a lot of those “that’s not right,” shots. I was doing trackman golf all through November/December, and the Trackman felt 95% true to the way my shots were going on a golf trip in Southern Utah recently. It made a world of difference once I got the RCTs.

Check the alignment of the trackman itself. I use the one at my local pro shop and if its not aligned perfectly straight with your hitting area it will skew it hard. I spent an entire 9 holes thinking I was hooking everything only for the trackman to be slightly angled left of center.

The putting has some sort of algorithm taking into account the distance of the shot and the result of it. 8 feet is much more impressive on a par 3 over water than it is from a 30 foot chip if you understand what I mean. They probably want you within a certain distance of the hole depending on what distance you started from to reward a 1 putt. Inside 10 feet from over 100 yards but inside 5 feet from green side shots or something

When bubbie did this it was anything inside of 10 feet was a 1 putt and then like anything from 10-65 was a 2 putt

There’s definitely a learning curve to sim golf. Especially certain chips and pitch shots. You’ll get used to it. At least you don’t have to worry about putting.

So, the first 6 or so shots are critical with the auto-finish. If you birdy the first two it will give you a LOT of breaks on the green afterwards. Last time I played I birdied one and two and it had me sink like 5 puts from that point on outside of like 20 feet.

Just a heads up Tig, I'm pretty sure the track man calculated putting by doing the usual make percentage and rolling a random number generator. So even if it's a short putt, there's still a chance to miss. A 10 foot putt is close to 50% make or miss.

Yeah they're using tour make percentage, so every once in a while you'll get a 1 putt from 30 ft and a 2 putt from 5 ft.

The tour average for 8ft putts is 55%, I would say it’s pretty accurate on putts.

Medinah is the best - I got lucky and was able to play it this!

I have the same issue judging distance inside of 130 on the simulator.

Putts are based off of tour averages from those distances and hole locations. There's a lot of science that goes into figuring out how many putts you'll take from where your ball lands.

every simulator I have ever used, the yardages are always a little suspect, its nice to see its a universal thing and not just me. I much prefer doing my yardages outdoors than using a simulator.

so to help you out trackman golf is you have to play the video game cause thats essentially what it is

If you can center your target on the screen rather than you `tilting` to the target, simulators generally give more favorable results.

Need to add some extra power for shots from rough. If it says lie is 90% then you need to add 10% to your shot. 100 yard shot is now actually 110 from rough

at 9:00 you had it on 3 wood instead of 7 iron. may effect it may not idk

Like anything else it takes practice to perfect your simulator golf.

I think PGA 2k21 does a tournament every month as well so I believe you are correct tig

Just left practice on a trackman simulator also. Everything was going left. You have to re-adjust the trackman to the mat. And yes, distance is on chips and pitching is hard to judge. Good vid!

Auto putt automatically gives every hole a two-putt upon reaching the green. So the tournament is basically a race to the green rather than a race to the cup.

From what I know of these it isn’t accurate to what you see on screen. It’s where the sensors are and you aim straight in between them. I did it and I’d be aiming a bit left of target to hit a straight shot. And on shorter shots like a bunker, you are hitting off a clean lie technically so it just adjusted for that treat it like a chip that would hold back about 15%! That’s my advice it helped me cause the yardage wasn’t always what the real condition would produce in the real situation.

You need to get bubbie to help you on the trackman. He understands it a little better by the looks of it

I dont care how much "tech" are in these Monitors, they are not nearly realistic for actually round play. My first time on one I was drawing EVERY club I own. Yet the only club in my bag I hit a natural draw with is my driver. Distances are also wonky, but hey, its still fun. Especially for me when theres snow on the ground for another 3 months.

Tig thought the gimme range was 10 ft. Based on what I saw through several holes I thought the range was probably 6 ft. Then he got a one putt on a 8.5 ft putt. Is it just random? Since he said it was a tournament I assume the specs are locked in but should find out details like that before playing the next tourney.

why are u playing the white tees

It’s because you’re not selecting the correct club for the shot on the track man , you are hitting your yardages but not selecting the correct one, for example hole 1 your second shot it was a 3 iron on the trackman when you hit 5 iron? It’s gonna throw it off every time!
