It makes it easier to get the look you are going for in photoshop if the images you are using mirror the look you are going for. It is a pretty common practice among artists who do photomanipulations. Completely altering lighting when you paint for instance is a lot harder than working with the lighting in the image that you were intentional about when you took the photo. It's modifying whats there rather than working it all up from scratch or fighting against the elements in an image.

She made art and her son really enjoyed himself, the memories are what mattered, not the POSSIBLE outcome of some disgusting idiot taking it for porn or smth. I don’t like these comments as they don’t seem fair to the mother. Sure, pedophiles might take this art and use it as gross stuff for personal use, but she can’t do anything about that. Do you think her thoughts when having fun and making this were “Oh dang, I just spent 42 hours on this amazing art, but I don’t think I should share my talents to the world of my kids, because 2% of people might turn this into porn.” NO it wasn’t! Why are you so vested in dissuading the people warning her? She can continue doing everything you are describing with her kids, have fun, make memories and all the rest and still have the wisdom and self-control to not post partially-unclothed videos of her kids online. She could literally make incredible art out of ANYTHING! She does not have to post the art she makes with her kids. Those can be enjoyed in the privacy and safety of their home.

This is so cool! My mom used to take Christmas photos of us kids every year, but she was very impatient and yelled at us when we wouldn't smile enough. Looking at the photos now, I only remember the sadness and anxiety in me. So it warms my heart to see you create amazing photos with your kids while having fun.

I love your work, but how come you take so much time on practical execution to 'make it look real' but then paint it where it looks fake? I like the overall effect, just wondering. ! I cant answer for her but as someone who dabbles in many art forms I'd say its pretty practical. She's giving herself an irreplaceable framework for her art (the photos) artist use references more than you know and by doing that and integrating her photography she is wonderfully and uniquely bleding mediums.I think its a really personal touch.

I think she puts all the items and photoshops it later is to have 2 photos for her kids. One taken in real life and one she photoshopped. Just so when her kids get older they see themselves in a non-edited photo as well as a photo in which the effort they're mom put in to make a magical picture is shown, as a memory for them.

Its because you need to mimic real movement to make this, the same way 3D designers and animators usually record themselves doing the movements and then apply it to the work :)

I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, because it looks like the process was just as fun as the results… but why bother creating insanely complex sets if you’re just going to go in and photoshop the heck out of it to the point it looks like an illustration?

It makes it easier to get the look you are going for in photoshop if the images you are using mirror the look you are going for. It is a pretty common practice among artists who do photomanipulations. Completely altering lighting when you paint for instance is a lot harder than working with the lighting in the image that you were intentional about when you took the photo. It's modifying whats there rather than working it all up from scratch or fighting against the elements in an image.

This is probably a stupid question but if you’re so good at photoshop…why even bother with all the sand, reflective backgrounds, etc. or is it just so it’s more fun for the kids. Or does it actually save time in the photoshop. This is a serious question, not trying to be rude❤

She made art and her son really enjoyed himself, the memories are what mattered, not the POSSIBLE outcome of some disgusting idiot taking it for porn or smth. I don’t like these comments as they don’t seem fair to the mother. Sure, pedophiles might take this art and use it as gross stuff for personal use, but she can’t do anything about that. Do you think her thoughts when having fun and making this were “Oh dang, I just spent 42 hours on this amazing art, but I don’t think I should share my talents to the world of my kids, because 2% of people might turn this into porn.” NO it wasn’t! Ik you’re warning the mother about the consequences, but you and the other 85 people out of the 98 people who comment this kind of ‘warning’ on every video is just getting really rude.

Why are you so vested in dissuading the people warning her? She can continue doing everything you are describing with her kids, have fun, make memories and all the rest and still have the wisdom and self-control to not post partially-unclothed videos of her kids online. She could literally make incredible art out of ANYTHING! She does not have to post the art she makes with her kids. Those can be enjoyed in the privacy and safety of their home.

This is so cool! My mom used to take Christmas photos of us kids every year, but she was very impatient and yelled at us when we wouldn't smile enough. Looking at the photos now, I only remember the sadness and anxiety in me. So it warms my heart to see you create amazing photos with your kids while having fun.

So glad you survived all that, as I'm sure that yelling was just the "tip of the iceberg." Watching this video made me feel really sad for the miserable time I had growing up, with parents who NEVER did one fun thing with us, EVER. We NEVER laughed and smiled around them like these kids do with their mom... such a wonderful family they must have!

I love your work, but how come you take so much time on practical execution to 'make it look real' but then paint it where it looks fake? I like the overall effect, just wondering. ! I cant answer for her but as someone who dabbles in many art forms I'd say its pretty practical. She's giving herself an irreplaceable framework for her art (the photos) artist use references more than you know and by doing that and integrating her photography she is wonderfully and uniquely bleding mediums.I think its a really personal touch.

@@robertthomas6127 It's a family participating in their mothers artwork. The video starts with the children giggling. Their all having fun and enjoying themselves. And what does the fact that some of them are boys have to do with it. Also, I think the masculine term for mermaid is merman.

It's none of my business, but stick to facts. Explain to the boy that mermaids are fantasy, female creatures. So it is not possible for him to act as one because he is a boy. So simple. I think she puts all the items and photoshops it later is to have 2 photos for her kids. One taken in real life and one she photoshopped. Just so when her kids get older they see themselves in a non-edited photo as well as a photo in which the effort they're mom put in to make a magical picture is shown, as a memory for them.

Its because you need to mimic real movement to make this, the same way 3D designers and animators usually record themselves doing the movements and then apply it to the work :)

That makes sense to me now. Don't get me wrong, she did an amazing job with the editing, it looks amazing, but I was wondering why she did so much just to draw everything in after. Having those memories is worth all the effort and sand, for sure. I was just curious why she did so much just to make an entirely different photo that didn't use all the prep she did.
