I think the problem is with formula 1 engines required to have pre heated oil in them. Maybe it was a fail safe because the oil got too cold and we all know how metal reacts to heat. Maybe they should implement a system if you have too much energy it goes to the oil heaters

I agree with you guys, I'm totally happy AMG let us see the raw side of preproduction. This is the whole point of getting it out there on the track and just letting it rip, to work all the kinks out so the customer can have an amazing experience with their purchase. No matter if it's a $20,000 car or $2 million.

This test session seems like, AMG just sent out all the Engineers and test-drivers, and left all the Media people at home...So real and raw...

Mat's enthusiam and excitment throughout this video is infectious, and heightened all the more for the stark contrast to the German technicians. This was the best video I have ever seen on this channel and one of the best car videos ever on KZread. Mat was hilarious, Mercedes was super cool about all of this being aired and wasnt hiding anything, all around massive respect for Mat, the team of Carwow and Mercedes. That car is epic.

Every once in a while, Matt comes out with the most insane review or test out of nowhere and I love it

Your Sir must have had the time of your life. I watched that and I had almost has much fun watching you break the car! Fantastic car and love Mercedes for allowing you free hand in editing and narrating this.

When driving by the owners, can you imagine the maintenance 🙄 What about the drivers learning curve . Matt stop saying preproduction. The car is a race car . "Can you imagne the maintenance" As if someone who is able to afford this car wouldn't be able to ensure it was maintenanced properly, it's not a shitbox owned by a 17 year old that's just passed their test. Drivers learning curve? You understand that when this goes into production these aren't going to be used for trips to the shops etc, correct? Chances are most of them are going to sit unused in billionaires' garages anyway. It's a production car with an F1 engine and it would be treated as such.

This is some crazy tech coming to the road. It's great to have a roaring monster like this at a time when things are going quiet.

I love the fact that AMG let you drive it already, despite not being completely perfect. I know this in Germany can have serious consequences for the people involved, but it's a petrol head project with people with love for this cars. Maybe it should not be to perfect, or at least, not in this fase. The fact that they wanted to share it with you in this stage is awesome. When they get fired they can always do an application at Ferrari or another Italian brand ;-) What an amazing project and car by the way. Just simply crazy and beautiful! Thank you so much Mercedes for just accepting this project and let your most genius and most petrol head people handle it.

Interesting concept, obviously with some bugs (imagine being on full send and the engine cuts out) - would like to see a comparison with other supercars (hypercars?) in the same price range. Great raw and honest video cut - respect. Looks like you had a lot of fun... and lucky you, Bernd is a legend, you should have included a bit of his driver history.... thanks for sharing!

Considering this car has been properly abused probably well before Matt ever hopped in it is a real testament to the confidence Mercedes has in this motor. Throwing codes and all, it's still holding up pretty damn well!

Definitely One of the most interesting videos Matt has posted. Very good footage of the interaction and the reactions of the driver and the team. Real life car testing, respect. It is really different seeing what kind of problems car manufacturers go through.

Mercedes really is the Best or Nothing! I’m extremely excited and proud to be an AMG owner!

I rather enjoyed watching Matt's interaction with Mercedes engineers. Good on Mercedes for allowing Matt to film and post all of there real world moments where things don't always go smoothly. Much more entertaining for the audience imo.

Awesome video and thanks to Matt for bringing this to us and to Mercedes for being so real but there was something ironic. Every time when a lap was about to be completed, there was this big banner "BMW M Power" 😁. Free advertising for their biggest rival!

All you need to know about this car is that literally everyone involved with the engine hated working on it, since taming that 2015 engine was an absolute pain in the ass. The CEO of Mercedes Benz even said it was a mistake and he was nuts agreeing on that. And it would have been way easier to build a complete new engine.
