An intense episode for sure! It feels like Flint lost his own anchor and is on the loose now.

"Would you like to see something shiny?" I just LOVE that line :D
This is such an epic season finale!! You are totally right - this Flint is scary! The Fathoms Deep Podcast (highly, highly recommend, a brilliant podcast about the show) introduced me to the idea of James, Thomas and Miranda as a power trio (consisting of ethos, pathos and logos). The people in these trios being out the best in each other because their dominant character traits compliment each other. James now has lost both his moral core (Thomas, his ethos) and his rationality (Miranda, his logos). He is pure feeling (pathos). And his feelings are very dark (rage, hate, despair, loneliness). Also, with Miranda gone, he has no more ties with his old life in London. Abigail said they would kill Mr McGraw, and that's exactly what they did. By the way, I think the reason why Ash's man was so ready to shoot Miranda was because he didn't see them as people - he saw them as animals. As monsters. Dehumanisation is such an effective, and terribly vile strategy in war. I'm so excited to see you react to Season 3 - it's my favourite!!

That last part hits hard… but so on point. Also I loveeeeee Fathoms Deep!
I never took that conversation between Jack and Anne to be some kind of break up, or her separating them, so it wasn't bittersweet at all. If they had kissed after that it wouldn't even feel out of place. Since you've continued the show way past this I guess you've seen so as well. She has no issue with them being together through it all, or "two halves of the same thing" because right after saying she cant be his wife, she said they'll be partners till they literally die. That continues pretty strongly going forward and they're still the most important people to each other the whole time. She can't be his "wife" but that was true since the show started, Anne is not the type, not after the stuff she's been through, the life she's had, and Jack probably knows that too considering the marriage she was in that he explicitly saved her from.

Very well said - I totally agree. On my first watch-through, I did see it kind of as a break up, and I was curious about where their relationship would go. Now, I see their conversation as the culmination of Anne's beautiful (and underrated) arc of figuring out who she is outside from her relationship with Jack. She cannot be Calico Jack Rackham's wife - she is now her own person, she is Anne Bonny. She is his partner, his equal, and their relationship has gone from a slightly toxic codependency to a recognition that they are better together, and share a very profound love, but are two different people with their own needs and desires.
I think this might be one of the most epic episodes ever! 🙌🏼🏴☠️
You may recall in season 1 episode 1 that when Dr. Howell is first introduced to us he tells Captain Flint and Gates that he had tried to save the life of a crewmate after the battle by amputating their leg but that they did not survive because they lost too much blood. Now here he is performing the same procedure again.
He came to Charles Town as James McGraw looking to make peace. He leaves as Captain Flint to wreak havoc on the world. Everything about this finale is just one big "Hell yeah!" moment. I love it. Your thoughts are so spot on about who will reign Flint in now. In the past he always had Gates to reel him in with the crew and Miranda to temper his rage but now he's untethered.
great to see another excellent reactor to the greatest show in tv history. you may not know that yet, but you will
What I love especially about this show is the ensemble cast. It really adds weight to crew displaying their loyalty to Silver when we can recognize them all.
miranda being the one reining in james is such a good understanding of their relationship. but i've also read the theory that captain flint was the combined rage and grief of both james and miranda, that they were true partners in their revenge, and once miranda was gone the persona of flint became too much for just james to get lost in.
in the final scene you and Max look like twins
As you wish, they all take the gold and lived a peaceful and happy life in the folowing 2 series. ... No just kidding. Expect the unexpected and enjoy it as i do enjoy your reactions
Finally! Been waiting for this every day. Now begins the wait for the next episode... I hope you had some knowledge of pirate history for the new character reveal to make an impact.
Funny thing about reality is that actor/actress that play lord ash and Miranda Barlow are married in real life. And vanes speech is one of 3 favourite speeches in this show and all 3 speeches are in my top 10 speeches of all tv shows and movies. I love this show for showing us characters that to make decisions and reactions to the decisions, as well the story telling and how the characters are trying to tell their own stories
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
where she been?????????
Jack's crew got the gold. It's theirs. Silver and Max get a cut. NO ONE ELSE. They may share with Vane but why would FLINT get any of this.
7:34 ... You really love Flint? ... You hated hated Flint all along until now. Welcome to the club that always loved him! 😉
It only gets much better with more new characters. ENJOY.
Please i need more wire reactions!!
