Even as the season is a dumpster fire, Pete Carroll was still calm, even toned, and direct. I can see why his teams have been so good. He's a good coach, BUT demeanor in tough times says a lot.

I've pretty much followed the Seahawks for over a decade having lived in the region for a long time. I think this is the first time I've seen Carroll that flustered and baffled. It's possible that after all this time, his message is failing to get through. Maybe he's not adapted to the current NFL. I don't think he forgot how to coach, but maybe it's just that point where the team needs to make massive changes and start a new era.

Carroll is a pretty poor in game strategist. He has a game plan and pretty much refuses to adjust if it isn't working. In fact, he pretty much refuses to adjust during an entire season. He thinks his offense and defense should play one way and even if it isn't working, he won't change the way they play. Time for him to go. Bring in a fresh perspective, someone who can see the situation with clarity and isn't blinded by his own loyalty to his brand of football.

It's a very difficult situation. I have been watching the Hawks for 25 years and I can tell you without any hesitation, I would not want to take my chances else where. This isn't just because he helped bring significance to this franchise and I am being biased, ( well maybe) but he is one of the best to do it. Still is. Most NFL coaches who leave after this much success is really just don't have it anymore because there want just isn't there. Pete you can tell his fire for football is still hot. The only reason this makes headlines is because of the success. 2 losing seasons.thats it! Most of these franchises have had horrible seasons. Multiple losing seasons for the last decade. Perspective is important in this decision. But it gets even more when there really is no one in charge. The late Paul Allen is gone leaving a lot in disarray. I truly feel the heart beat of any successful business needs a hungry owner.

Well, it was a good run. Pete is a HOF for sure, consider what he did in college as well. In the end though, everyone's time comes. The tricky part is Pete will have to retire as he just signed a 5 year deal and the owner is not very active, not really even sure Jody Allen likes football as she inherited the team from Paul. It is time for a change though, we have had the same season since 2015. Up tempo to me means snapping the ball while their not ready, have two calls made and go if we are behind, otherwise run the play clock down. It has to be right now nobody likes it. Yeah, Seattle, let Pete go. Free Avents love signing in the northwest in professional sports. And, it's not like Pete Carroll would go back to coaching college kids and have big success after an NFL let down. Heck, could you even imagine Pete facing Nick Saban for the championship against Alabama in the Rose Bowl? I doubt USC would offer Pete more than 5 years at 65 million. It's not like SC fans are desperate for a return to glory or anything. Eric Bieniemy would make a great Seattle head coach. And, I hear Baker Mayfield might be available when Russell Wilson demands another trade. Go Hawks.

You can always blame the coach, but remember, when you give the majority of available money to one player, you can't retain the skilled players you have, or bring in other skilled players. Look what it did for Luck in Indy, and the same thing will happen in KC. Your not going to get the best out of a 3-7 team. Unless a player is looking to prove FA value, you're going to get guys showing up for a check just trying not to get injured. The coach can only do so much with what he has-Jets, Giants, Panthers....

A bit of an overreaction, the Seahawks are an average team in a tough division. They have a top defense and a dysfunctional offense, very similar performance to the 2021 Steelers, just 0-3 in games decided by fewer than 7 points and had to face the top two teams in the NFC the past two weeks. Aside from against the Rams, they're going to look way better the next six weeks.
