    I really recognized myself in this video, i was in the exact same situation than this young man a couple years ago. At the very same age i was lost in my life, i was working 7-8 hours a day, going at my appartment and it was a deadly routine that was killing a little bit of me everyday... I didn't like what i was doing, i had no goals, just like a dead man walking without knowing where he wants to go. I felt like that to the point that i really said to myself that i had to take the time to ask me the good questions about what i wanted to really do, what made me happy etc. And i realized that the answer was in me since a long time, but what was stopping me was the lack of self estime and confidence that i had. And the only way possible that will make me happy in life was to start making actions everyday to reach this goal and never waking up in the morning feeling bad again. Since i realized that, everything changed. Even if i was still working on my shitty job, when i was waking up i knew that now things will be different, i felt that i had more mental strengh because i knew where i was going and i really think that it make all the difference. The mental health is truly the most important, it can take you anywhere you want to go. Since then my situation hasn't stopped improving, i have now a beautiful wife, a beautiful children, i work everyday on my goal to become a music producer, still have a job to pay bills but it pays much better ^^ and also more interesting. All this to say that i wanted to share my story to say to you that whatever your age or your situation are, we can all be in a really hard situation in life, but we also always can bounce back and change our life for the better. If i was able to inspire a couple of you with my life's journey i will be very happy 🙏 don't forget to always believe in you that's the most important 😊Big support to you from a frenchman 🇫🇷 🙂

However, after watching him stand up and acknowledge his failings in front of a whole crowd with that microphone...I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that he is going to go on to find PURPOSE and DISCIPLINE!.....😊

    Biggest thing young men don’t understand is they need to go try EVERYTHING. You can’t just sit down and figure out what you really want. Who you really are. What really makes you tick until you’ve pushed yourself. Traveled somewhere. Tried that hobby. Done that job. Once you’ve done that, you can be brutally honest with yourself and tell it like it is with some good data. Are you creative? Do you like working with your hands or computers? Do you need supervision, or more personal responsibility? Do you like lots of attention, or solitude? You gotta be able to answer simple descriptive questions about yourself as a human.

    Something else to add is that they need to try and be comfortable failing and then try again. That’s where growth happens, that’s why motivation and discipline go hand in hand. And why it’s intrinsic to the individual.

  • @charliekowittmusic

    @charliekowittmusic

    5 ай бұрын

    @@deenikki96901000% agree with what you said about seeing failures as lessons for growth, as stepping stones to your future. People don’t understand that life will give you SO many opportunities if you just start saying yes and trying new things. I got fired from almost every job I ever had. Got laid off from UPS 2 years ago. I was unemployed and stuck in a terrible relationship. I decided to try my passion, playing and teaching music. Got a couple students who referred me to more and more. One family referred me to a new job, etc, etc. 2 years later I’m doing music full time, tech director at a church, playing shows, and making way more money than I ever did working a regular job. Being ready, by knowing who you are and what you want, is everything. Then when that perfect opportunity creeps up, you grab it and never let go. Every young man thinks they know what they want. “I wanna be a millionaire sigma business bro”. Okay, what in your life experience makes you think that would be right for you? 🤔

My brother did told me that I have soo much potential in me but I’m just wasting away… I already made plans this year to overcome my problems. The first step is I need to get away from people and electronics cuz they will be distracting me. My first two months ( March and April) will be focus on yoga and meditation (I need to become silent within my self in order for me to go after my goals) May & June, I’ll be adding running to my plan. One of my goals is to run 5 km this year so I’ll focus on that during that months but also will be doing yoga and meditation and my last two months, I’ll add working out every single day and eating clean and get to at abs this year!! And also I will be doing efasting through out this journey. Efasting is electronic fasting so that means I’ll be away from phone, tvs, KZread, movies, radio,music I hope I can achieve it!!

I'm a musician, gamer, a tech nerd, but I've come to realize those are all extremely superficial traits and not my identity. My career in IT has some meaning, but it's not who I am. He made a good point I think. if you don't have direction you have to turn off distractions and make a list of the goals you want to achieve. Then the steps to achieve those goals will be clear, and then your discipline will help you follow those steps. and for discipline, you have to have someone to look up to, someone you want to be like in that goal.

    I don't know. Recently I'm distracting myself a lot, but I always was instrospective and I think a lot too, overthink I would say, and I still have no clue in the sense of "this is the thing! This is what I want". Of course I planned some ways to be better than now, and that are achievable because I have good education, but it doesn't sound to me like "the answer" that I can invest everything with certainty. I just don't find this feeling some people claim to have found, even thinking a lot. I have the desire to learn and improve many abilities, just to improve, what is a good thing, but without any real specific tangible goals to achieve. I struggle with discipline too...

I can tell you what DG conveys is pure truth. I've tested it myself. Discover what you really want first, starting from zero. Then focus on what you want. I can guarantee you that you will get what you focus on.

    So many people complaining about the cursing... David Goggins is a US Navy SEAL and Army Ranger. He served in the US military at the most elite levels for 20+ years. He's also broken several Guinness world records for physicality, including running 135 miles in 24 hours and swimming for 11 hours covering 80 miles. Goggins grew up in a broken home with a brutally abusive father. He's a bit vulgar, yes (military talk), but he's one of the most inspiring humans of all time when it comes to motivation and dedication.

    Malcolm Alexander once said, "find the thing you do best, and forget about the rest." I would ask you, "what do you value?" Then, "make sure you orientate yourself to that value, every day." That is your target/goal. You may have to make sacrifices. I decided I want to work as a counsellor and am now in my third year of study. It's difficult some days. I keep my value in mind. He needs the truth Believe me, Goggins knows exactly how that guy feels But sugarcoating and being nice about everything does not help people like this they are that way because that’s how they’ve been treated their whole life These people need to realize the answer is within themselves it’s not within someone else’s acceptance of them The answer is within. Goggins is right, once you find your inner voice, once you figure out why you're here and what kind of a person you want to be, you won't need to worry about discipline anymore, things will come naturally.

For goggins was getting in shape in order to pass bud/s.

    For anybody that needs a little extra context: David is explaining here that the answers to the questions: Why am i here? What am i doing? Why don’t I have any discipline? How can I be more disciplined? Can only be found within. Nobody can tell you your purpose because if it comes from someone else then you are doing it for that person or their approval. The proper way to find ones purpose is to sit down, like David mentioned, with no outside stimulus (phone, tv, other people) and have an introspective conversation with yourself and you ask yourself: who are you today and who do you want to be? What are the differences between the person you know you are and the person others see? What impact do you want to make on the world? Who do you love? Why? … here you will find your answers, but ultimately it’s a decision that will take you from where you are today to where you want to be.
