I don’t think Gyomei believes him…
If you never seen my videos or read my community notes, you maybe wondering why the caterpillars are with Douma.
Well, you can find more information in the community tab but Douma is protecting them because people who aren’t demons are after them because they saw what really happen between Douma & Kanae who were friends but Douma is still a part of her death, it’s just not the way you think it is.
So he looks after them, so they won’t get killed off because if they tried to tell the Hashiras, or the Ubyashiki family, they won’t believe that people who doesn’t exist is after them.
Then Gyomei comes in, and sees the girls with Douma thinking that he was tricking them so he could eat them.
And after all the drama, both of them has to protect the girls together even though Gyomei at the start doesn’t want to work together with Douma because he’s an Uppermoon.

And yes, I do ship these two because there is no information about how Gyomei feels about Douma because he is the main one that saved both Shinbou & Kanae for some reason and Gyomei needs more love while every other Douma ship is bad in some way.
