    NEW VIDEO: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooSNu9pxdca_edo.html !!! second channel: kzread.info NOTE: I want to add that different hair needs different care and so a lot of hair types (especially close to 4c) would manage this just fine !! This experiment is only for my hair type and is not reflective of the hair care of other types n styles !!! I massaged my hair in the shower, as well as brushing my hair nearly every day. I think the problem was not using the right brush!! 🖤🖤 Some people have also mentioned that this video was potentially insensitive towards people with depression or similar mental health illnesses. As someone who as suffered from depression myself, this was not at all my intention. This video was simply an experiment investigating sebum regulation - it was made for the purpose of science and myth busting. It is not at all intended as a commentary on depression, or a mockery of that experience. Thank you for understanding !!! Just so you know, but if you brush your hair from the bottom going up you get the best results, brushing your hair while its wet is bad for the hair cause it's when it's most brittle which is why so much hair came out.

    I have had severe depression my entire life. Luckily I am doing well now (on a ton of meds) but being forced to stay home and ruining my schedule is not helping. I am technically bipolar but my manic episodes only last a day or so. I don’t think this is insensitive at all. Just because a symptom of depression can be ignoring body care does not make a completely unrelated experiment insensitive.

    I did this for about 2 weeks when quarantine started and it was about the same stage as your day 20...It got the point where I washed because i just couldn't take the itching anymore. I personally have lots of thick, quite curly hair and washing my hair every 2 days would be considered a daily workout for me; especially considering I'm trying to grow it out. My friends think i am seriously mad when i say that i wash around every 3-5 days depending on my grime factor... Then i remember that its healthier for my hair and I'm saving time, water, energy and most importantly money!!! love you Ellbat

    If you ever decide to try this again, keep these two things in mind. When rinsing your hair, make sure you scrub your scalp like if you were using shampoo. And also if you will use a boar bristle brush it helps distribute your natural oils so your hair doesn't get so oily looking and it shouldn't get matted. FYI You were getting there!

I remember using so much conditioner each time I would shower to reduce the pain when removing matting in my hair.

    I have stopped washing my hair for 2 months now (man with shoulder length hair). It's still a fine tuning experiment. What I have found out what works for me (everyone's hair and scalp is different): -Brush every day with dry hair to get the loose hair out and spread the natural oils. -Rinse once a week, and rub your fingers over your scalp as if you were washing your hair. We shed a lot of skin cells every day and your head is no exception to this. - If you get dandruff, mix a tablespoon of Bicarbonate Sodium (baking soda) with a few tablespoons of water to make a paste. Then wet your hair in the shower and push out most of the water out of your hair with your hands. Then, take a bit from the baking soda paste and start washing your scalp. Apply the pressure that feels good for you. Only wash the scalp, not the hair strands. -Don't rub the devil out of your hair with that towel. Just pat it until damp. -Dry that hair. Either air dry (not in a knot) or dry with a blow drier on the lowest heat setting. Also, too much heat is the enemy of hair. Make sure that that shower is not too hot. I am also still fine tuning, so any tips are welcome.

    Try to not wash it every other day to get back on a healthy washing cycle. When it’s washed too often the natural oils are removed and the result is oily hair within 1-2 days. Hang in there, and just help your scalp get back to normal and don’t wash it that often. 💛

    like others have said - this is a reality for those with severe depression - myself included. I used to wash my hair every other day and it was immediately greasy on the second day. I went for an absurdly long time not washing my hair and now i can go a good week before it looks distinctly "dirty" i wouldnt wear it down but its about what most would consider 2nd or 3rd day hair. I currently wash once, maybe twice a month tops and honestly when my hair is JUST washed, its frustratingly soft. Its like trying to deal with synthetic doll hair in that it knots so easily but also just wont stay up and slips out of any style i put it in. I dont think theres any benefit to NEVER shampooing your hair, but you can deffinately do this for a good reset. letting your hair get good and greasy once in a while is good for your hair as the grease is essentially conditioner and protectant for your hair. Before washing i will brush out the dead hair, then work in sections with a fine toothed comb to lift up any dead skin on my scalp and move it down the hair. this alone removes a good chunk of the dandruff. this i do once or twice a week. then when i wash my hair i will wash 3 times. Once to lift dirt, second to remove the dirt and then to actually impart the shampoo and make it nice and shiny. I will put conditioner from my shoulders to tips after the second wash and then rinse that out with the third wash. I currently have nearly knee length thick hair, and it was ankle length till i cut it back to hip length right at the beginning of the year.

    Fun fact: A year ago, I had to perform the nutcracker. I sucked at making a high bun, so my mom would make it. That certain year, she couldn’t help me put my hair up a few hours before the show. So I had the brilliant idea to NOT wash my hair for a week, so my oily hair would make it easier to put it up. It worked.

    I experienced something similar when I played a character whose hair was in a French roll requiring tons of backcombing and hair spray and such. There's a reason for the saying "I've just washed my hair and I can't do a thing with it". The lady who put my hair up told me in no uncertain terms not to wash it for a couple of days before a show.

  • @BbGun-lw5vi

    @BbGun-lw5vi

    Жыл бұрын

    @@aloura8931 It’s biological. Very tight curls, 3b and 4a curls, which are way more common with black people, don’t retain moisture as much as straight hair. So washing too often can strip the oils from the scalp that the hair needs to stay moisturized. Think of how black women can apply a good amount of hair oil on their hair and it and it doesn’t look greasy. But if a woman with silky, straight hair tried that, their hair would look like they poured it in oil.

When I was in college 30 years ago (and actually had hair), my two roommates and I decided to see who could go the longest with out washing our hair, we all had 80's metal hair (mine was more like Axel Roses). My roommates lasted a week, I lasted 1 1/2 weeks. I'll tell you what, my hair (and my roommates agreed about there's) felt really soft and healthy. What you should try, like what we did, is that we never got our hair wet when we took our showers.

    Having run the gamut of this experience (I'm male with long hair btw), I've found that my hair will adjust to my washing schedule, I just have to give it time to do so. When I left home for school years ago, that was the first time I didn't regularly wash my hair (I was just lazy, what can I say). Initially it was pretty bad, but then I could go a couple weeks without washing. Now, I've settled into a once-a-week schedule (I wash on Sunday morning, just before going grocery shopping), and my hair is fine almost that whole week. Aside from my laziness in keeping it brushed (it's usually a bit of a mess), I don't notice any oil whatsoever until I wake up on either Saturday or Sunday morning. Then it's suddenly _really_ bad. I'm sitting here on Friday night writing this, and my hair feels perfectly fine, and would look fine if I brushed it. I guarantee, though, that I'll wake up in the morning or the morning after, with it coated in oil. I was lead to this video as it showed up in the suggestion feed while on Johnny Harris's video explaining that he hadn't washed his hair in 5 years. I'm kind of thinking that because of these two videos, I want to try just rinsing for the next couple weeks, but make sure to brush regularly, and see how that goes.

  • @ivystonemoon
    @ivystonemoon2 жыл бұрын

    Not using soap is one thing, but not taking care of it is another, you still have to brush it preferably twice a day, in the evening 100 strokes and in the morning 100 strokes with a boar bristle brush, this will remove the dust and help distribute the sebum evenly

    I got my hair trained to go two weeks without washing. But you have to just get it to that point. You just do it consistently like once a week if you don't want to go any farther than that. But my hair is super strong and I can bleach it from your color to bright blonde in 40 minutes with minimal damage. It's just the way I've always washed my hair once a week growing up (It was a cultural thing) then I got pretty sick and started going one month between washing which when I started getting better I washed every other week. My hair doesn't really start getting "greasy" until the last day or two of the two weeks. It takes a few months until your hair adjusts to the new wash schedule though.

  • @darktoranaga
    @darktoranaga2 жыл бұрын

    I did this just to see what happens, and it worked fine for me. There are some differences and they do change things a lot. I'm a guy and have short hair. As a kid I remember washing my hair maybe once a week, but then it got to doing it daily. I had issues with dandruff, oily hair, losing hair. A few months ago I decided to try getting rid of shampoo. I still wash my hair every day while showering, I just don't use shampoo, or anything else, really, just warm water. I scrub while washing, and then vigorously use a towel to dry it. The first month was horrible, it itched a lot. It also looked dirty, not terrible, but dirtier than it used to. Now I don't really need shampoo anymore, except if it was a weird day, when I feel I got some dirt on my head that will just not go away with water alone. The bold spot seems to have stopped growing (it's not getting smaller either, but that's life). The hair looks fine, I don't see hair falling at all. The scalp is clean, no more dandruff. No itching either. The hair doesn't feel oily anymore, just a lot smoother. When I need to get it into some shape (working from home reduced the need for that), I use the same boar bristle brush that I already had and used for my beard. In conclusion, it worked for me, and I'm not going back to using shampoo daily. Your mileage might vary.

    Useing a boar bristle brush is essential to clean the scalp and pull the oil to the ends to condition the hair naturally. THEN right after wash your hair with warm or lukewarm water right afterwards massaging with fingertips. I have found I have to do this for longer than I would for shampooing. It helps to have a strong flow of water and to massage and rinse from several directions including hanging your head down. In addition I've been no poo for about 10 years now and have always washed at least once a week with something weather it be a cowash, baking soda, rice water, shakaki, or some lather of bar soap (which bar soap is my least favorite). Never have I heard of no poo people just not cleaning their scalp or hair at all. Going no poo is actually a bit higher maintenance in my experience but worth it. My hair is so oily I used to look like your one month hair or worse after not washing for only three days. Learning How and WHEN to use a boar bristle brush was for me The key to keeping my hair clean with just water for longer. I pretty much only brush right before I wash. If my ends are frizy or poofy then I have not brushed enough to get the oil to the ends. (I have 2a fine thin oily hair)

    @kenc36222 жыл бұрын

    It might be worth doing it again but thoroughly brush your hair morning and night every day. Use clean scarves to put it up and avoid braids. This will absorb some of the oils and that along with the brushing will keep it cleaner and fairly well conditioned. Edit. If you want your hair to look fabulous you should consider using baking soda mixed in water to scrub your hair then rinse it with apple cider vinegar mixed with water before rinsing i with just water.. It will leave your hair healthier, nearly tangle free and looking amazing. My wife has done this for more than 4 years with amazing results.

    I tried this in February 2019 when I was quarantined at the beginning of this madness we're still in. It took my hair around 2 months to get used to it. I learned that it truly depends on your hair type. My mom had been doing it for awhile and she was giving me tips but everything that worked for her didn't work for me because we have extremely different hair types. I got super frustrated and almost gave up so many times. However, it got better. Oddly my roots didn't get that oily--the part between my roots and ends did. I also had the nasty build up on my scalp. With research I learned that you basically have to scrub your scalp as if you were shampooing your hair and it helped SO much. I went basically 9 months without using shampoo until I moved and the switch from soft water to hard water ruined everything. Now I use shampoo free of parabens and sulfates and I only need to wash it 1-2 times a week.

    See tbph, doing it at 2 week intervals works wonders. No wash or rinse for 2 weeks then wash and repeat for about 3/4 months minimum. Also I done this during lockdown as I had to shield for a year so had plenty of time. The bugs I've worked out from it are to invest in silk scrunchies, twist your dried hair gently in a very high bun and tie loosely. Always let your hair dry thoroughly and it's fine if you have somewhere to be or an occasion to throw a random extra wash in but don't go back to anything more than weekly washes. Also ALWAYS brush before showering as wet hair is so delicate and susceptible to breakages. There will be alot of dead hair don't worry, you aren't losing your hair. I found the best way to keep sebum to a minimum was to wear the high bun all the time.

    What works for me is use essential oil in your hair to help calm your natural oils. Plus combining your hair 2 times definitely helps so it won't look nor feel so greasy. The essential oils help dry your hair enough so you don't have to wash your hair as much. I used lavender or sweet orange essential oil to make your hair smell better. I wash my hair once a week, put the essential oil on to your scalp and comb your hair. I put the oil on my scalp as often as I need it before I really need to wash my hair, but I comb my hair in the morning and before I go to bed, I noticed that when I wash my hair it takes longer to get greasy. When I shower I use those hair brush to scrub out any dirt and ect out of my hair, of course I wash my hair but only once or 2 times a week unless on special occasions. If you think this way could make a video that would be cool, if you have any questions more about it ask me.

    Try washing one of 2 shampoo days with just water. It'll help a lot. Also try putting it up/french/dutch braided, tightly, when your hair gets oily. If I want I can now go a week without washing my hair (without shampoo, just water)

    Your hair gets oily BECAUSE you wash it so frequently.. I wash mine once a week and it doesn't get oily until like day 5 or 6

    I changed to going a week between shampoos since the pandemic started, the big change is that I brush really well each day. That way I get rid of all the loose hair every day, and there is a lot of it, and it spreads the oil around. I've not had a cut during the pandemic so my very thick hair has grown too long to was several times a week
