Nice to see the Bosch getting a proper cleanout 👍 . Also never seen that much limescale before, this is insane and just shows the previous owner didn't use enough detergent combined with hard water

thats all realy amazing! the limescale, the poor bodycondition of the whole machine, the age, and the bearings are still ok.. but the best is the bearingseal ! still flexible and soft, no water into the shaft. thats i call high quality ! and now look the todays crap... :-( shame on, all u washing machine producers... !!

Oh jesus i expected it to be bad! but damn i wasnt wrong it was overloaded with it, it must never have been on high temps much! - that element was caught just in time, much longer would of probs been dead. the scale attacked back of drum thankfully just before it would of wrecked and rotted the spider from inside out.. big lesson for everyone - always do maintenance wash every month on 90' lol Great job getting it all out. and getting it back to great working order!

I dunno, that spider looked solid for 23 years old! even with no service washes and soap and limescale those old bosch spiders are pretty good. Heavy and strong.

I find this series of vids Very enjoyable and thank you Mr B. Perhaps it's the lack of destruction ? & Productive analysis ? .... I wonder could you put that calcium carbonate (limescale) into beakers, & experiment with the citric acid , sodium carbonate , vinegar etc. All at different temperatures with or without agitation, just to see what is most effective ? Perhaps you'll never have that amount of limescale to experiment with again as that machine was a exceptional case. Although it's probably all in the bin by now ? 🙂

I did keep the bucket of scale Tommy, I like your idea. I think I will have to add purified water to the list as a control sample. I wonder what it is about the videos that make them popular? Consistency? I have found that on my channel the vast majority, more than 90% of the views come from non-returning non-subscribers. People who get a video, maybe some help or entertainment and move on. The corollary to that is that most of the income from the channel comes from "other" videos. Thorn removal videos and destruction videos, along with specific repair videos make the dolla. So there is a balance for me, I enjoy making some videos, (you sill have to guess) but there is an incentive for others. And it becomes work, and food appears on the table. I have a henry to put a new switch on and a cable. That machine is going to a friend to be used. There is a lot of pleasure in that.

Owen, I'm thinking those bearings are fine and the scale would have slowly cleaned out. However you don't know until you have looked, be interesting to see if the noise will have gone, could be something silly like in my recent international 275 video, cheers

I think they are fine for many more miles. They did have a bit of up and down play at the front of the drum. Likewise the water seal was in good condition. However, I am going to replace them, mostly because I can when I am in there. The bearings are a much larger size than the bearings on the WFF machine, with a larger shaft diameter. I suspect that this is to account for the higher spin speeds on the WFK and WFP models. Whenever it was spinning you could hear a noise that I think was limescale falling off in little flakes and whipping around. I guess it would be fine to leave it, but I think from time to time the pump would have been clogged. The way I see it, bearings, brushes, the door seal and bits like that are service parts. I have spent a few quid bunging them in so that it is basically a new machine. I'm looking forward to using it. From what people have been saying in the comments these longer slow process videos seem to be well liked.

@@bootsowen Owen, that all makes sense, I'm assuming that if you were not making videos then you'd just use it as it was until any noise got worse, which from what I've seen would be a long time. Cheers

I have no idea Andy. Some commenters are saying boil washes cure it, or keep it away. You probably have more experience than me. The water here and in North West Ireland is very soft. This one wasn't as bad as I thought. I don't know what I was expecting. What do you think of a clickbait title?
