He set his goal to Super Bowl. Which basically means you get fired if you fail to make the divisional round

The firing logic is based on your goal before the season starts.

Cane, I believe the firing decision comes from you setting the goal to win the Super Bowl before the season. I am pretty sure that is the only thing the game looks at when deciding whether to fire you or not. Game couldn't even tell you what team players played for in previous seasons until a couple of years ago, so I doubt they are looking back to past records.

This team is great when you watch the in-game sim, but they suck when you do the weekly sim.

i think if possible, you should go to Denver, they haven't really done much in the series and the headlines of a revenge game would make a cool story line. Plus Mike Shanahan was the raiders head coach before Denver and he started dominating the raiders throughout his Denver years, history could repeat itself!

I too turned firing on as a challenge. I was fired after one losing season after 9 straight winning seasons.

The dude played like Payton Manning all of last season, just to play like Neil O'Donnell in the Super Bowl. Then reverting back into Alex Smith level production the next year 😭

I would say that you should only do firing for the franchises that you play every game. To put your job at the hands of simulation is insane. It’s not consistent enough for me to take that risk.

The Raiders also fired Bill Callahan one season after losing the Super Bowl so at least Cane's not alone. This is why the Raiders are a joke of an organization.

He couldn't even be bothered to adjust the playbook in the SB so Gruden knew everything the Raiders would so.There's also a reason he never had a real HC opportunity after that. Firing AJ Ray is ridiculous though. That move really gives late stage Al Davis energy lol

The scheme and playbooks matter. The new coordinators do not match the scheme you are running and that negates the bonuses you get from the skill tree.

Very good insight

Lordy, lordy, lordy. Even after the Super Bowl letdown, it really felt like all the pieces were finally coming together. To have every single atom of the negative stigma around Stockton, Ray, and this entire team get cast in solid silver, and all within the span of a mere two episodes… forget getting punched in the gut, you may as well have stabbed straight through it. I wholeheartedly wouldn't be against continuing in some shape or form (if, admittedly, for no other reason than a desperate need to get SOMETHING out of these channels' perpetually, bafflingly frustrating Madden 24 era), but at the same time… I really, really freaking believed in these guys. No matter how much everyone raved about QB traits and slow sim and playbooks, I honestly thought they had it in them. Not even the Texans' struggles confounded me this thoroughly, and the fact it's coming right after 23 handed everything to the Vikings on a silver platter makes it even more bizarre. This freaking game, man. This freaking game. (As an aside, another random reminder that I was probably the first person who compared Stockton to Jamarcus Russell in any significant capacity. It was supposed to be a favorable comparison, some witty gesture towards "the original promise finally being fulfilled" or whatever; now, I'm pretty sure I just jinxed him. Sorry, y'all.)

This is an oddly similar season results-wise to what happened the season following the last time the Raiders were in the Super Bowl (they went 4-12 in 2003 following the Super Bowl loss to Tampa) I made this comment when the team was 3-7

Cane may have lost out on elite safeties and corners in the past, but we can always give him the credit for drafting 2 hidden dev. special teamers now. Elite drafting right there 🤣

Can't wait to see what comes next. Be cool to join a team in the same division like the Broncos or Chargers and show the Raiders what they are missing

You had a 12 game win streak last year because you slow simmes almost all those wins. The fast sim losses suggest a medidore sim playbook, sonce thats all that matters in the sim lol

A coaching carousel series with the new CFB game would be 🔥

I saw a suggestion for a PC version series for 25. That way you can customize/mod more of the game (especially, hopefully, the disparity success between sim types!). I fully endorse this option for next year! Love the content, Cane!!

See where you get the offers from and then Go with it, take a new team to the SB or however far you can get them before Madden 25 or NCAA 25 comes out.

I say find a team in the same division as the raiders if you get offered and take the job. Make your goal to get revenge on your old team.

1. You did you check to see if you were on the saints sliders this whole season like you mentioned during week 1 against the broncos? Because that would of destroyed your team plan. 2. You can't say your goal is to make it to the super bowl and then miss the playoffs. The game immediately fires you. Happened in my chargers franchise . I won the super bowl in year 7 and contract extended. Next season we missed the play offs in simming and I was fired. It became a Detroit lions franchise that I've turned into story gold. 3. If Miami offers GO THERE!!! This... is gonna be fun. Lol

If you don’t end up going back to the raiders, you should go to the chargers or broncos to prove that you weren’t the problem and get some vengeance (I don’t say chiefs cause they’ve been good), that or go to the worst team

I feel like ever since he got X factor Stockton heavily regressed back to his old ways. He was doing amazing as just a superstar and then his xfactor made everything bad again

Cane you didnt make adjustments with the coordinators. This led to poor performance from the key players. The coordinator is critical to good play especially in the sim.

It has happened before…with the Raiders! They fired Bill Callahan the season after going to the Super Bowl. I believe they went 4-12, he was bad mouthing his team in the press, and their late owner Al Davis wasn’t know for being patient with his coaches anyway.

Hey its possible to get fired one year after losing the super bowl. Eagles ALMOST fired Siriani last year and it was kind of justifiable due to how poorly they were in the 2nd half of the season. So u never know with the NFL 😂

When you draft corners to play man you need to also look at their agility and change of direction because agility is how quick they can break on a wrs cut and change of direction is how good they can turn corners with out losing speed

Pick the worse team and build them back up

It’s either you coach a SB contender or end the series. There’s not enough time for a rebuild with M25 and NCAA on the way.
