Hello Wes ! I found your channel by accident like a month ago? I was searching for informations about Colombia and I enjoyed your videos in that term a lot! Very infmormative, thank you! Soon later I realized you came to live in my country, Poland! Such a coincidence! So me, as a Polish person, in thanks to your informative videos about Colombia, I would like to give you some tips which ( I hope ) will be helpful to you while you are living here in Poland: 1. Poland is a totally different country depending on the season ! There are 2 seasons lets say: UGLY season ( Autumn / Winter ) and BEAUTY season ( Spring / Summer ). You came to Poland during the UGLY season !Duration of a day during Autumn / Winter season is short, we miss the sun ! The sunset comes around 4 PM ! It's dark, cold, snowy, windy ! During Autumn / Winter season, we Poles are living in a '' survival mode '', we go out only if we have to ! :) Work / study and ... back home to warm up with a cup of tea ! It's ugly outside ! we miss the sun ! our vitality is low ! But it will TOTALLY CHANGE during the Spring / Summer season ! It will start in the late March. Day will last longer ! more sun ! brighter ! warmer ! Nature will wake up to life, all will become green and beauty ! And the people will wake up too ! During the Spring it's warm here lets say like in the Medellin ( around 20 degrees ) and during the Summer it even gets hot like in Cartagena ( around 30 degrees ). You see how it changes depending on the season?? From minus 15 in the Winter till plus 15 - 20 during the Spring till plus 35 during the Summer ! While it gets warmer, you will notice the beauty of Polish girls, they will dress different, show more of the bodies ( skirts, high heels ). While it gets warmer, you will also notice ppl becoming more open and friendly. It's all about the weather and Poland shows it's best side ( in terms of socializing / enjoying life ) during the Spring / Summer season, so wait for overall conclusions till then ! ;) By the way, Spring is the best time to find a girlfriend cause people are thirsty after Winter depression lol When it all come to life in the Spring, ppl start going out, socialize, they are searching for connection. 2. To socialize / get friends / get a girlfriend, IT'S YOU WHO MUST MAKE A FIRST STEP ! I will explain you why... 95% of the ppl living in Poland are Poles. We don't have much migrants here. These 5% of minorities are Ukrainian refugees or hard working ppl coming from the East. You look Asian so ppl will read you as a Chinese or Vetnamese cause we have some Chinese / Vetnamese communities here. The thing is, these ppl don't integrate much. They are known from their hard work but they stay in their closed communities, they are happy living with their Asian families, it looks like they don't feel a need to socialize / integrate with our society. So Polish ppl will most probably misread you thinking you're one of them, they will not guess you're an American, traveller, citizen of the world. So you gotta MAKE A FIRST STEP, introduce yourself, tell who you are. I can guarantee that after you say you're an American, come from California, traveller, with experience in living in South America and South East Asia - ppl will be impressed by you and curious about you. The image of USA in Poland is very positive. California seems a perfect place, there was a popular serie here shown in TV, Beverly Hills 90210 :)) and many ppl still think California is all like that ( sunny, warm, palms, beach and the high life ). In addition, after you say you are an American, you will be seen as someone '' familiar '' cause there are many common values between USA and Poland. We know a lot about USA, american culture, movies, music etc. exists in Polish mainstream, in fact we are much influenced by American culture here. Poles travel a lot these days, you will surelly find ppl to exchange experiences, give a tips one to another. To conclude: you will be seen very positive here in Poland - the fact that you are a traveller ( interesting, open minded ) and come from USA ( country liked and apreciated in Poland ) will help you a lot - just you need to make a first step, apporach ppl and introduce who you are. From this point all will go well. 3. Consider visiting other parts of Poland. Cracow somehow has that international recognition, many tourists who visit Poland go to Cracow, it's a phenomenom I can't understand :) I don't want to offend Cracow citizens :) I will agree that the city itself is beautiful, has a long history etc. But the vibe in Cracow is pretty same like in many other Polish cities. If you visit Gdansk or Wroclaw, you will probably feel the same vibe. They all have that traditional, historical, conservative vibe. As you're a young, single man, I would recommend you to visit Warsaw - the capital of Poland. It's a modern, dynamic, vibrant, liberal, cosmopolitan city. It's the only place like that in Poland. I think Warsaw is a right place for a single man. The action is here. In Warsaw you are connected to many options (food - international restaurants, shopping, bars, clubs, single lifestyle culture, hook up culture). The only problem is there are many rich ppl living in Warsaw, so it's not easy to impress local girls, they have many options and set their expectations pretty high. Besides Warsaw, during the summertime, Gdansk and Sopot are THE MUST VISIT. It's located in the north of Poland near to the Baltic Sea. It's beautiful. You can take a beer on the beach and enjoy the nightlife in Sopot, in MONTE CASSINO street ( clubs / discos are there, near to the beach ) - try it in July or August ( peak season ). Also consider to visit Polish mountains ( they are not far away from Cracow ) and " Masuria '' region famous for it's peace, beautiful nature, lakes, Masuria is good for Spring. okok ... I wrote a looong message lol I will stop here not to bore you :) I wish you a great time in Poland ! Feel welcomed !

This winter the temperatures got super low in Europe in like 15 years. In Sweden it was like -25 which is crazy because normally it is around 0 to -5 in January. You are right, in summer everywhere in Europe is amazing. In winter your should definitely spend a lot of time in the Alps - there is so much to explore there.

I remember touring Europe backpacking style back in the early summer of 1981. Old school man. My fav city was Copenhagen, but I found what was then West Germany to be the least friendly. Back then, it was all in the Cold War Era. NATO Soviet Block, crazy vibes back then. I met some wild characters right out of a James Bond Movie. One guy had been an Australian Army Sniper Vietnam Veteran strung out on PTSD who had been riding the rails for over ten years, just over and over with no final destination? Guy looked like Charles Manson just kept staring at me until I finally got creep ed out and left

Poland 🇵🇱 is a safe, clean, and neat country. Don't expect all nations to be the same. There are specific characteristics of nations with their similarities and differences. It's so natural, isn't it? In my opinion, our expectations are based on our own experience.

Have you been to Rome, Paris and other big European or US cities? A lot of graffiti. Kraków feels authentic because it is authentic. It was not destroyed in the war like Warszawa. It is not pristine, which I like. I appreciate the grit contrasting the the gorgeous ornate architecture. It is not like Disneyland. It is interesting you did not want to go out and walk in the snow. It is magical, especially at night. I agree, I think Spain is a good fit for you-the weather and the culture of the people. Smaller Polish cities you may also enjoy more. Kraków is a good fit for me. I am an American and have lived in Kraków for 11 years. I am still in love with it. On a side note, you don’t have to pay a small fee at all public bathrooms.
