I’m super happy to have it in my collection.
Griffith, Nicola - Slow River : It's on your list but I couldn't find that title so I figure I'll just send you something by the author. Area X. The Southern Reach Trilogy: Annihilation; Authority; Acceptance. I loved the trilogy, but I know you said you were fine with just watching Annihilation so I thought Ambergris might be a different world of interest. Just finished Legends and Lattes: If Travis Baldree decides to write a book about Viv's grocery shopping or anything else......I'm buying it. I love that character. Recommendation : Shady Hollow by Juneau Black. Fun, quick read. Stone Sky: Happy you purchased Book #2 and 3. That worked out better than I could imagine. Enjoy!!!! Glad to see the community support you. Well deserved.

He has already announced a second book, so maybe you'll get more Viv! Thank you for everything, it is very generous of you and I now have so many worlds to explore now. I really like Vandermeer's pacing with Annihilation, so I'm interested in reading more from him so thank you.
Speaker for the dead is my favorite in the Ender series. Very cool editions. The Alchemist is also great, one of my faves.

I’m looking forward to reading it. Most everyone I’ve talked have said they love as much or more than Ender’s Game.
I was so obsessed with mythology in my youth it became my religion in adulthood. It's always a delight to see someone excited about books, even if I haven't heard of more than half of them (shame on me), happy reading!

I am so grateful. Nothing feels better than getting a new book except for getting several new books.
Crowley is a genius. I have read two of the three (Engine Summer and Big) and enjoyed both tremendously. I will say that, while his prose is unassailable, he's not to everyones taste. He is one of those authors that critics love but only has a small readership. Tim Powers is probably in a similar box. I loved Anubis Gates and have purchased it three or four times (keep giving it to people). None of them seem to enjoy it as much as I did. I like everything the California Dreamers (Powers, Blaylock & Jeter) have done but no one seems to read them any more, if ever.

Tim Powers is behind pirates of the Caribbean... Off frying bigger fish, but the books are awesome thanks for the tip on California Dreamers 🙏

I have a Jeter but I’ve not heard of Blaylock. I’m excited to get into Crowley next year after I finish my Nebula challenge.
Great video! Recently read Nifft the Lean, which is n intense read. Cover by Michael Whelan. I believe it won the World Fantasy Award. Great stuff. Just picked up a Man Plus BCE (as you know Nebula Award Best Novel 1977). Who Made Stevie Crye? is a respected Arkham House edition. Anubis Gates - that looks like a first. I am in New Jersey and here I once dated a Baciagalupi and it was pronounced BOTCH-a-ga-LOOP. But I am told Italians from Italy can't make out what Italians from New Jersey are saying, so Paolo might pronounce his name differently. Clark Ashton Smith is one of my favorites hands down. I like his every word. Today I picked up a beautiful Again, Dangerous Visions by Ellison, Red by Jack Ketchum (intense non-supernatural horror/hard-boiled novel - great, check out the excellent movie), 2 Weird Tales Magazines from 1993, The Library of America edition of Philip K. Dick: 4 Novels of the 60s, Book of the Keltiad Trilogy by Patricia Keneally-Morrison (all hardcover 1sts, widow of Jim Morrison of The Doors), and other cool stuff. Thanks for the cool book haul review.

You haven't listened to Legends & Lattes yet??? GIRL...It's so good!!! TIP: Listen to the very last part first. It's listed as "Pages to Fill: A Legends & Lattes Story" & then go back to the Prologue and proceed as normal. It sounds odd, but it makes so much more sense & makes the story run much more smoothly, trust me. He's got Book #2: Bookshops & Bonedust releasing November 7th too! It sounds like a prequel tho, which is both good & bad I think. It makes me a little sad because I like the other main character & there's no way she'd be in a prequel. But we should get a deeper dive on her old gang if it is, which'll be fun! And all the goodies you got just added a few new books to my TBR LOL

I’m going to be contrary and read this physically. I’m excited about it to be sure, but I’m hoping he puts out a hard cover of it but I will probably break down and buy it soon.
I love The The Dispossessed is an incredible novel. Unreliable Narrator in parts. I don't think thats any sort of spoiler. Quite deliberate and thought out by Le Guin. I really like the Frank Baum Oz books. The later Ruth Plumly Thompson Oz books are also good, but verty difficuolt to find - many of them are highly collected. John Crowley is well known and very wel though of. His most famous book is Little, Big. Bug Jack Barron is famous. IIRC, THe TIme of Changes is great Silberberg. (Who was known in sf fandom as SilverBob).

The comments are making me even more thankful for the gift of Crowley. I've never heard of him but he seems to be well revered. Thank you for sharing the tidbit about Silverberg. I will use SilverBob from now on.

I gave a first edition of "Man Plus" to Moid and he put it up in the attic and may have given it to charity by now. It is nice to someone appreciate a great Frederik Pohl book, thanks.

I am grateful for every book that is shared with me. Sometimes I actually prefer the book club editions because they don’t have the upc code marring the cover. I’m sad to hear your gift to Moid didn’t make the library, but hopefully he still has it and will maybe be in his new library when he moves house.

Wonderful! I would say that 85% of the books on the Nebula award list I have never heard of until deciding to do this challenge and is exactly why I am. Finding new books and authors to love is the best feeling.
Blood Music is my favourite Greg Bear novel. Excellent novel.

Same about Kress, especially after discovering Novik. I'll wait to read the Alchemist for when I need a light mental break.
We can’t put a price on your reaction to Who Made Stevie Crye?, plus the Spinrad, made it all worthwhile. You knew - even without knowing it - that the Michael Bishop book was a big deal, so that was kind of fun to watch, and good on you. I know it must seem weird that there are some rarities in there, but I love giving books away - now and then - my friend Richard gets most of the spoils…and yes, anything I want to sell, I do sell, for my own profit. In this case, what started out as “let’s thrown in some stuff that people just do not find out in the wild…otherwise, they won’t ever have it to read.”, and from there it kind of snowballed, and I decided to throw in a few treasures, at least in my opinion. I’m glad you have them now, either to read, or move on to other happy readers, at some point. And don’t worry about me…I still have lots of books. That batch didn’t make much of a dent. Special Note: if the Horror label for Who Made Stevie Crye? puts you off, well, I got onto that book from a list of “100 Best Fantasy Novels”, so I think of it as Fantasy. Other special note: The Anubis Gates is my favourite book I ever read, another one I’m thrilled to cast out into the world to land somewhere. Cheers!

@@B0BsBooks You're welcome! I've never been tempted to read Hugo or Nebula winners like crazy, but I did go through phases where I would buy the Philip K. Dick Award winners, and even like to check out John W. Campbell Award winners. What I would say is that I do read in most genres based on lots of "100 Best" or "Essential" lists, for SF, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, and so forth. And, of course, these lists inevitably do have Hugo and Nebula award winners, when it comes to SF...but go beyond that, into obscure or respected books that, well, just never won an award. Lots of nominees. I'm a big "under the radar", "best book you've never heard of" guy, and less of a "everyone has read it" guy. So the Hugos, in particular, are not my thing - fan-based voting. The Nebulas are a bit of a different story, and I did find that even though I wasn't picking Nebula winners because they were Nebula winners, a lot of Nebula winners turned out to be books I liked, or loved. And as I sort of indicated already, I chase down the Nominees, usually, way ahead of the Winners, when I do look at the awards situation. I do also pick books off bookstore shelves on a whim, or because a premise sounds great - or also if I feel I'm a little behind in keeping up with what's new but also supposed to be good...but mainly I am after books that some list or critic has suggested - and the first things I go after, if I can afford a copy, are the books I have never heard of. So, in that sense, I think anyone committing to the Nebula Award winners, like yourself and a few other BookTubers, is doing something akin to what I have done: finding some kind of guideline, in the form of a list of books, and learning the history of a genre by reading those books. And I can tell you that going after the obscure, even forgotten, "Best of" books of these lists can be a little expensive, but also very rewarding when the book is amazing.

@@sethball2475 I'm definitely more of a whim buyer or that's a neat cover buyer and I've found a LOT of really wonderful books that way. The reason I decided to do the nebula award books is because I realized the books I enjoyed reading the most last year were all Nebula winners, and as a newbie to Science Fiction, I thought that was a great place to start. This was before I found out that Nebula Awards also include Fantasy. While I won't get to the other goodies you sent me this year, I will read your Nebula gifts before 2023 ends and thank you for sharing your books and love of books with me.
