Tbh, when the track was revealed the first time, I already knew that Red Lights was gonna be my favorite song by SKZ.. and I was right, this song has become my top favorite among of SKZ songs..

Lmao your introduction to Stray Kids is through Red Lights!!! It is not their typical MV or genre of music that they do. They have some of the most intense sounding music in all of kpop and you should check out some of their other title songs like Thunderous, God's Menu, and Double Knot.

this song is a b-side from their album Noeasy, as another comment mentioned, and the group has 8 members but for the album they divided into 3 units, and well this is a popular song among fans because of the dark/sexy concept (the 2 members in the video, Hyunjin and Bang Chan, had been saying they wanted to do a sexy song together for a year before this song was released so the expectations were high lol) , the title track the full group promoted is called Thunderous, and there will be music videos for the other 2 units as well, the songs are produced/written mostly by the members by the way! the whole concept/idea for the units was created by themselves, they have a lot of diversity in their discography and this was the first time they tried a more mature concept.

Oh and the 2 guys here, Bangchan and Hyunjin wrote, composed, produced this song themselves. Most Stray kids songs are self produced, written and composed..

I really recommend checking Stray Kids out, they are so talented, you won’t regret it!

They are 8 in Stray Kids, it’s only a song made by 2 members and very different from what they usually do (even though they do everything). Their second album just came out NOEASY, you can see a lot of content on their channel : Thunderous, Cheese, The Vies, or older songs : God’s Menu, Hellevator, Easy, Back Door…!

The english title they used is "Red Lights" but your right the direct translation of their korean title is compulsion and they wrote about the compulsion they feel towards their work not knowing when to take a rest as making music or dancing or performing feels like second nature to them. I'm really excited to see more stray kids for sure, especially on title tracks or even their bsides.

I have heard the hype over Stray Kids before, I did listen to one of their songs from when they started but like you this was the first time that officially got into them and I do not regret it. You should check out some of their other videos, they have very unique aspects to both their music and coreo.

Saying"i dont like kpop" is as if i would say " i dont like american pop" its just korean popular music, like its not just one genre. A lot of people seem to forget that.

Three of their members on avg have 100 song credits registered in Korean Music Copyright (KOMCA) making them the youngest most productive music producers aming Kpop idols. Every Stay on the planet is going to find you and give you recommendations and far more info than you ever asked for, dear reactor. We tend to be very...enthusiastic. I'll try not to repeat what others have already clarified for you regarding number of members, self-producing, etc. What I will say is that, as much as kpop itself is an industry and not a genre/style and thus can't be fairly covered with an "I love kpop/I hate kpop" response anymore than American pop can, there is nonetheless an overall range of styles that are approved of and popular in Korea, and SKZ is far outside that. They're not very popular in Korea, relatively speaking, and instead have an increasingly large international fandom because their wide-ranging genre exploration covers stuff not terribly appreciated by mainstream Korean audiences. Again, kpop is an industry not a single genre, but I can honestly say that other than the occasional individual song, I really am not a fan of almost anything under the kpop umbrella. The set of genres/styles that are popular and tend to be most frequently made are not to my personal tastes. Otoh, SKZ is one of my two favorite music groups -- not kpop music, but ANY music -- of all time. And they're my number-one favorite creator of _original_ music (my other favorite group tends to do reimaginings of extant songs more than original music, so I'm a fan of their performing and arranging). Their lyrics are almost always meaningful, they're deliberately inclusive in the words they use, they don't follow trends, they don't posture about being players, all of them are all-rounders and are thus able to move all over the place in their songs, and the music itself is usually very layered and complex and creative. Their discography is both incredibly broad (various people have dissected the songs, and they cover anywhere from 30-40 distinct genres) and impressively large (they're at...I believe around 120 or so songs now, when factoring in the unofficial "just because we felt like" releases they do on SKZ-Player and SKZ-Record) -- and that's from a group that's less than four years old and virtually entirely self-produced. If you don't like one song, they'll have 10 others of varying styles that might suit you better. So I encourage you to start exploring -- and for you to go beyond the title tracks. They title tracks (except for Levanter and kind of I Am You) are meant to be the big guns that work on the charts and draw in listeners. The b-sides are where they go nuts and try anything and everything that crosses their minds.

One hell of a first song to catch with them. I would recommend checking out Thunderous from them. You might enjoy it...mix of Korean influences and a little rock/pop

Thank you so much for your reaction, I'm so happy you like the song and the video! As others have pointed out, this isn't the usual Stray Kids style, but their music is VERY varied. When they first started a lot of their songs were heavily influenced by rock and they still like to use heavy guitars even now (just like you could hear in this one). The members compose, write, and produce their own music so this is pretty much entirely their creation. The English title of the song is Red Lights, but the translation of the Korean title is indeed "compulsion". I hope you'll react to more of their stuff despite not being that much into pop. Their music is considered "noisy" because it's heavy on various sounds and generally goes harder than your regular pop. The latest title track (from the same album as Red Lights) is called "Thunderous", it has traditional Korean elements in it, you might enjoy it! If you'd like to hear more of their rock-inspired songs, I suggest their debut "District 9", and songs like "Grrr", "My Pace", "YAYAYA" (doesn't have a music video), "Awaken" (also doesn't have an MV), as well as SLUMP - there's a live Japanese version of this one on THE FIRST TAKE channel.

I automatically like anyone who recommends stuff like Grrr and Awaken and YAYAYA rather than just the well-known title tracks. :) If this reactor enjoys rock-type stuff (which I'm inferring from some of the comments, so I could be wrong), "My Side" might also be one to try. Maybe even "Rock" too.

I'm massively sleep-deprived and fuzzy atm and should absolutely not be on the internet unsupervised rn because I'm going around dropping novel-length comments on unsuspecting reactors instead of going to sleep. Hopefully, yeah, the reactor will start off with the first ones you mentioned and not be overwhelmed, because those are seriously some of the best underappreciated (or at least undermentioned) SKZ songs! (I have no idea if what I said even made sense. I really need to stop searching SKZ reactions and go to bed. OCD sucks.)

Stray Kids mainly do edm and rap songs. But they do have songs with some rock vibes. You might wanna check out awaken, yayaya and slump (japanese version). There’s more but these three are my personal favourites.

OH OH OH SKZ!!! Okay, well.. their music spans over about what? 35 genres and subgenres? There's bound to be something anyone likes... but if you like this, I'd definitely recommend something like awaken (there's only a lyric video for this if I'm correct), Grrrr, Mirror, maybe some rap heavy things like Maze of Memories and Tortoise and the Hare?? I really dig those.. Oh maybe Slump as well? Maybe that's just because I got attached to the lyrics though... Then Domino (there isn't a music video but their performance at inkigayo was absolutely amazing - I don't know if it'll get a strike, though.. but there is a dance practice which is cool.. like their choreo always blows my mind) And some of my favourites are Side Effects, Double Knot, We Go, Wow (specifically Stray Kids, the 3RACHA one is just kind of a meme by now), 3rd eye (this one is a bit more unconventional experimental vibes but so good. My favourite version is the one they did live I think it's the unveil actually). Their softer type things are also nice like Ex, Levanter, Neverending Story, Secret Secret, Gone Away They are a self-writing, self-producing group which is something you don't see a lot... their writing/producing/rapping unit is 3RACHA and they also have some amazing songs - my favourites are Broken Compass, NXT 2 U, Runner's High, Matryoshka, Z.O.N.E... this is also all a lie because I love everything that 3RACHA puts out) Thank you for reacting to them!!! The reason Google gave you that translation is because that's the Korean name of the song. It's about compulsion and obsession. The name Red Lights is the English name.

Honestly I’ve always loved more metal, alternative, and rock. But there are two kpop groups that caught my eye due to their more aggressive styles: Stray kids and Monsta X. I would highly recommend checking out Monsta X’s Gambler if you want to. For stray kids you might like hellevator and side effects as well. You might also like Day 6 which is an actual Korean band. this was more of an anomaly for stray kids so you might not like the rest of their music, BUT there are some other kpop groups that do some rock-leaning stuff, tomorrow x together has some pop-rock stuff with their songs "0x1=lovesong" and "loser=lover", and woodz (solo artist) has a weird mix (he does like a different genre every song) but "feel like" is country rock with a similar guitar line to red lights. a.c.e's song "undercover" is a more classic kpop sound, with rock-leaning percussion and electric guitar mixed in.
