@@sheriagregory6267 yes u can pair any lens under 2 kg... 1.8 better. i checked RF 50 1.2 & 24.105 f4 work well.

Yo Ryan thank you for this bro, not the fact your talking about the camera but I just was telling someone how creators need to go back to the 2016-2018 style of filmmaking far as reviews and gear go, the KZread space is in a weird place with tons of negative side effects, and you actually going out and being creative showing us what's possible with a budget camera means more then a spec sheet and some KZreadrs clout and biased opinions, please do more style videos like these bro, everyone needs to see that they can create with less even if its not the higher market product, creativity will always win!

Awesome video! We need more of those out and about reviews with the B-rolls mixed in, creating a nice little story line. I just got myself the R8 couple of months ago and I'm loving it. The perfect camera for creators on the go, crazy quality for a such small and affordable body. Battery life wasn't as horrible as I expected either. I'm inspired to make my own video about the R8, keep creating and inspiring Ryan 💪😎

Just got the R8 end of March, finishing my first project with it. Doing pre prod for my next, I’m stoked to see what I can pull out of this camera

This was one hell of a video that sold me on the R8. What did you use for sound recording because it sounds incredible! I use Adobe Podcast AI to clean up my audio but damn this sounds so good - looks good too man.

Great video! This is the primary camera I use and it’s a beast! I can get through a whole day filming with just 2 batteries but I have a 3rd just in case. The only issue I’ve really had is the overheating. I’ll still take that for the price though because there’s ways to manage that.

Under what situations and how long until it overheats? And do you have to wait to cool down before recoding? If so how long?

@@filmingyu6623 usually over heats faster in direct sunlight. Not sure how long it takes to actually overheats because I’ve never let it get to that point but there’s a meter showing you how much it’s overheating. It happens mostly in 4k, especially 4k 60. As long as you’re not doing long takes in direct sunlight it’s fine. No issues at all indoors though

hey man! im new here, awesome video!! ive been thinking to get this camera over a month so i think its time, and i wanna thank you because i really like everything you said on the video, even what you said about the battery (cuz many other videos only said that "it sucks") and well, whether its not the biggest one, based on your experience i believe is good enough for what im looking for 😊 one last thing, which sd card type were you using? did you use the V90? (which almost everyone suggests) or will you say V60 is fine or even V30 gets the job done? thanks again and keep making content! you're awesome🎉

Dope content as always, I currently shoot on a Blackmagic 6k and Im looking to get a smaller mirrorless camera for a smaller set up or lower budget clients and Im actually looking into the R8 so this video is right on time, would love to see how it looks shooting a music video and some photography. Also some low light test would be dope, I know nobody's really messing with sony when it comes to low light but I dont want to switch to sony the menu system SUCKS lool I'll keep an eye out for more reviews of this camera, thank you bro. Yeah I agree, it’s a solid camera for everyday use. I did run into some overheating issues when I used it for a couple weddings, but overall solid camera for what you get 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@bhmstudio4395 I had 5 or 6 batteries because the R8 takes the same ones as my SL2. I was running the R8 in 4K at 24 and 60 so that drains the battery too

If you're doing strictly video, i would save the $900 and get the r8. They have the same video specs. If youre doing photography get the the r6mk2

I recently picked up the R6 mk ii after debating between it and the R8. Coming from both Canon 5d mk ii and 60D I wanted a more capable camera for sports and aviation photography primarily and the R6ii had slight edge in that regard with the 12 fps mechanical vs. 6 fps on the r8, both have 40fps electronic. For many of the reasons you touched in this video I will eventually pick up an R8 as a secondary. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the R8 Ryan!

It's an amazing camera for it's price! Thank you for this video Ryan! I just think Canon is a little lost, also not letting 3rd party brand to produce lens for the RF mount (they finally did ik, but it's not out yet), and this camera got lost in the middle of the Sony line (A7c, a6700 etc) and the fact that you don't have many budget lens options, people how get this camera want some budget lens to pair with! Yes, sir. I picked up the R8 about 7 months ago and was surprised myself with the overall image quality. I highly recommend this camera myself. It does have a few missing features that will be noticed by more seasoned Canon users.

I got the R8 as soon as it was released sold my RP for it.. I use It more than my Eos R now just because of the video/photo switch

I guess need to take a moment to appreciate that this camera is one great piece of machine despite losing some button from R6 Mark II , necessity rather than luxury, light , usable and very "rig-gable" , such a simple camera yet powerful.

Ibis is overrated man. Vlogging it doesn’t matter & music videos I’m using stabilizers most of the time. If I go handheld, I want a handheld look. I picked this camera to prove you don’t need the best camera on the market.

As long as you have the digital stabilization on and you have a lens with stabilization it feels like it has ibis.

Just as I’m stuck between saving some coin and grabbing the R8 or Spending the Extra on the R6 Mark II.. made my choice harder now

What you gonna use it for? I have the r8 and sometimes think I shoulda got the r6 mark 2 for the ibis. If you're gonna be walking around with it, I'd go for the r6 mark 2. That ibis is huge as long as you're not too wide angle

@@jordontester7813 I don't know if the lens image stabilization is much better on the higher end lenses but I can tell you the lens image stabilization is not good enough on the less expensive lenses. I have the 24-105 RF f4-7.1 which also has lens image stabilization and it's not good enough for filming while walking. If you're standing still it's fine but if you walk it's too shaky.

I saw you ask a couple people about the overheating. Let me address that. I have both the R6 II and the R8 and have used them both on many shoots. The R8 will start to show the temp gauge warning just being out in the sun on a hot day, without recording anything. Having shot many outdoor hot weddings myself (but never with the R8), I would recommend that you go with the R6 II. You don't get re-do's with weddings. It's too crucial to trust that to the R8 that can't dissipate heat like the bigger brother can. I don't think I've ever seen the temp gauge pop up on the R6 II even when recording 4K in the same hot conditions. The R8 just sitting there starts to overheat without it even doing anything. Even when I do interview style videos in an air conditioned space, the R8 will show the overheat temp gauge after about 15 minutes of continuous recording. I realize that's not what you want to hear, but weddings are too important. Now if you were doing other types of shoots where YOU can control the pace of the shoot, then yeah, you can tell everyone to hold for camera, but you can't do that at weddings.

@@bhmstudio4395 As I said, even if the camera is doing NOTHING, it gets hot if it's in sunlight on a warm to hot day. I've shot enough weddings to know that it wouldn't have survived in particular outdoor weddings I had to do. So to answer your question, yes even if you're only shooting 1080P. If we could post photo comments, I'd show you just how hot it got just sitting outside on a 90 degree day occasionally being used to shoot photos (not even video). You're not going to be able to control the weather for weddings, it's not worth the risk of missing the shot at an outdoor wedding. Here's the thing, several people who own this camera made mentions about the overheating. I'd listen to us current owners. It's GREAT as a 2nd camera, but I wouldn't rely on this to shoot outdoor weddings.

Our parties are not outside, they are in indoor and cooled halls We only use photography outside for photo shoots and promos Thank you from the heart

Battery life is terrible when shooting on 4K on this camera. Stick on 1080p.
