I kept a pigeon on my balcony for a year. It pooped everywhere but brought me so much peace. She became so accustomed to my presence that she would never fly away when I was near her. She birthed 6 birds while on my balcony. She was pregnant twice. The male mate visited her every day while she sat on the eggs. Sometimes, they interchanged their roles with gathering food and shielding the baby eggs and birds. Finally, I had to let her flee, and I put up a screen to fence my balcony. They are so messy but very smart and gentle. The poop is voluminous. Keeping the space clean will be a daily chore. They have a good sense of direction. Free her and she will return

She got a Pest! Not a Pet😂😂😂😂😂😂. Here in Trinidad, they walk on your roof, mess up everywhere, and become so bold that they try to move in your space if you let them!! They're straight up gangster...

@DeroDinero it'd be fun to have one esp as a baby. I've came across a large owl the size of a house cat one day and it was laying dead on the side walk in a small city in Pennsylvania. I thought how rare to see that and it didn't look like anything hurt it. Never seen one that close before. if they do get her one props to them I bet it need a giant cage they could build one.

I loved pigeons when I was a kid! I saw a few outdoor houses with them. One on a rooftop where they could fly and come home to nest. So cute.

I just found out pigeons were at one point domesticated pets for thousands of years

My grandmother had a wild NY pigeon she rescued as a baby and later it never wanted to leave her, so she raised it primarily indoors in her Apt. Never clipped her wings and took her on walks outside almost daily. She trained it to use the toilet but standing on the seat or perched on her finger holding her over the toilet. She made a nest for her with of a big fruit bowl, put cloth or cushion and wrapped that over with a blue hospital chuck for easy cleaning periodically. She kept the nest on a shelf near her bathroom and always left the toilet lid up and door open for her. Accidents happened of course but were much less due to the toilet training. Birds are very sensitive to air quality. They are extremely sensitive to smoke and other aerosols. Spray cleaners, hair spray, spray deodorant, perfumes, incense and even candle fumes can irritate birds’ lungs and air sacs. Teflon, nonstick cookware & appliances like air-friers, toasters & the oven clean feature all release chemicals when heated to high temperatures or food gets burned, those things can make birds sick or worse. As a teenage girl she might need to spray things on in a different room or make sure she opens windows and ventilates the house very well in those scenarios. Best of love to her and the new addition in the family. Pigeons can be very loving and affectionate. 💕

Pigeons are absolutely brilliant, they will actually remember you and have self-awareness, so when they look in the mirror, they know it’s them and not another bird. You can train them to do incredible things. Before we had phones, that’s what we use for a reason.I used to have birds growing up, but my father always left the cages open because he never had the heart to close the door on a cage that holds a bird who is meant to fly

Learned something new today! I’ve never seen one before aside from on tv.

I used to have homing pigeons , very pretty very smart. We would take them a distance then wait for their return. Build it a small wood & rabbit wire coop. I used dried crumbled corn cob for bedding, its absorbant. Google about pigeons . My daughter had a pet duck. Birds can be nice pets 💜💜
