I did not expect that!

Yikes! Our final resting place! I did not expect that! Aircraft crash while building our home! Okay, maybe it is a drone, but that is still an aircraft. This is the first video in a series of videos I’ll be doing as I document the building of what we believe will be our last house. Our bucket house. Our old folks home. Our final resting place! Yep, we bought 2.5 acres and are building our self designed home. We did get some help working out the details of the design with a local architect firm, but 95% of the design is from my wife and I. This video, about our final resting place, is a lot of talking, but it does end with the grading for the house. In this video I talk a lot about how we are already over budget for our house and we haven’t even had any tools or equipment touch the land. Very frustrating to us so hopefully it will help others out on what to expect if they are building their own house on raw land. Hope you enjoy.

The first in my series of documenting building our "bucket home" on raw land that we purchased. Many surprises that were not known by me that cost us a lot of money before we could even start the build. Hope this helps others that are building a custom home on raw land.

Rainy weather still. Just need to get the foundation poured. I know once that happens things will go into very high gear.

Awesome video this is definitely something I am excited to follow along with. For a request, I think it would be beneficial to know the percentages the up front costs included compared to the total price once all done and done. This could give future home builders a good guideline to follow without disclosing too much financially.

Super video. I thought those drones had collision avoidance features? Yeah, those unexpected costs are never small. Hope you don't have many of those during construction. I'm looking forward to the build videos. Sounds like you have a great contractor. Love the floor plan explanation.

Depends on how much you are willing to spend. My drone had avoidance forward, backward, up, and down. Not side to side.

@@BronkBuilt Sounds like the drone defense budget needs to be increased. Maybe you should contact the budget depart with your company and lobby for more funds. Was the drone damaged beyond repair?

A couple nicked props, that was it. They are actually built pretty sturdy. It never hit the ground, just tossed around the tree a bit, then leveled itself out and hovered in the tree. The harder part was getting it out as it was hovering in between (and surrounded) by limbs. The obstacle avoidance system made it hard to move and I didn't know how to turn it off without going into "sport" mode which means it move quite fast. Just had to use the side to side and rotate until it allowed me to move forward out of the tree. I was then able to fly it back to me no issues. While only two props were visibly nicked, I replaced all of them just to be safe. The props are not that expensive and I always keep a full set backup. You'd be surprised at how much more it costs for the next level up have 6 way obstacle avoidance.
