Forcing your opponent to draw their entire deck has always been my favorite win con. Flavorwise it feels like you’re shattering their mind by revealing all the secrets of the universe to them or something.

When you're untapping lands, it's much easier to start from right to left, than vice versa. That way the selected cards expand over the lands you've already selected instead of blocking the next one

The High Tide deck from a few days ago was PAINFUL to have to watch, so I'm happy to see a mono blue version that's much more streamlined plus Mind's Desire has always been a force to be reckoned with. I remember when the storm mechanic was printed and glad to know WotC uses that term to determine how busted new mechanics are.

I watched Reids playthrough right before this one and I think his side boarding was a big difference in outcomes, you never removed desire or spiral from the main and he did several times shaving down to 1-2 copies main at times, it gives more targets for your wishes and in games where you can be patient or will be forced to slow play you would rather draw side board cards or wishes more often than desire or spiral. Loved the playthrough regardless, just seemed like relevant information for anyone who didnt watch Reid play or missed that difference!

Desire into desire is an unmatched feeling.

I like to imagine 7an as the World of Warcraft guy from South Park, sitting back smuggly marinating in cheeto dust and mountain dew, laughing about a non-lethal Brain Freeze then suddenly realizing he might lose and sitting up to get all serious, beads of sweat dripping down his pudgy face. Sadly there is no justice in this world.

I’m glad wizards is still willing to take chances on eternal formats, everyone always worries that a ban or unban is the end of days but really wizards should be open to and willing to unban cards even if it’s just to see how they do in the wild, they really shouldn’t be afraid to just let cards loose and if they are causing issues just rope them back in. Thousands and thousands of players and games can give answers and data that guessing and theory crafting outcomes simply can’t

MD actually makes the deck worse. At low storm count it's bad, at high storm count win more. High Tide snowballs after Spells ~1-5 to pseudo infinite (depending on build) and you don't want MD in those first 5 spells typically. After that it doesn't matter. Time Spiral is similarly trappy. Neither you can fetch with merchant scroll. Trust me I love the deck as much as you. In fact I played 90% of my tournaments with it way back when. But MD isn't pushing it.

Today marks the second installment of the high-water mark of bosh's youtube journey. I'm just here to let his soothing voice crash over me like a tide. A couple of scattered thoughts on deck construction: - Merchant scroll feels like it should be able to get a payoff of some kind, but the best it can do is brainstorm. This feels bad, but I'm not sure what the best option is, maybe cunning wish? But cunning wish only has zenith to get, so you'd need some nonsense like tolarian winds or meditate in the board for lines that don't involve a bazillion mana. Maybe you just say "welp, you can't plan for everything" and just let scroll get wish get zenith for lines that have lots of mana but only scroll for action. -Fae of wishes (technically Granted) doesn't have action to get from the sideboard except blue sun's zenith. I get that high tide can get ridiculous amounts of mana, but sometimes you want something smaller that still gets the job done. Maybe Pore over the pages, or one of the 4 mind's desires, or if you have cunning wish you can run one of the things mentioned above. -Should blue sun's zenith just be drown in dreams or even the score? I get that zenith shuffles itself, but time spiral will get it back if you target yourself with draw and then keep comboing off, so you would need to be in a pretty convoluted situation for it to actually be better, whereas drown in dreams can mill them out at half the spent mana (something like 30 intead of 60). It seems likely to me that you're more likely to have 30 mana instead of 60 over your opponent having GY hate when you're forced to go for a self-zenith line. -Regarding TES: Tony tried 3 main 1 board and was saying that he'll probably end up with a single desire in the board for TES since the maindeck is already so tight.

"Good luck acquiring this deck in paper by the way, this is even out of my reach." Abolish the reserve list, reprint everything. LEGACY AND VINTAGE FOR EVERYONE.

Yes. I think Lorien Revealed and Desire are going to be in a lot of the same decks, probably should have been in this one.

So cool to see someone else enjoying MD as much as yourself =) It was never the best payoff, still so much fun to play with (BECAUSE it's not deterministic) Love the content btw!! 👍

It's times like this that make me happy I never got rid of my Candelabras from when I played High Tide around 2015

I am so damn happy that high tide is now a real deck again, high tide and lands are my two favorite legacy decks so it’s great to see it back in the meta

When Candle'ing lands, I think it is easier to click on the lands from right to left, not left to right. Bc the lands when you click them grow toward the right. FYI?

Speaking of Time Spiral and Urza’s Saga being broken: When it was released, I played the insane Time Spiral/Tolarian Academy deck in the state championship that year. I ended up in a mirror match. The legend rule at the time prevented a 2nd copy of any Legendary card from entering play. My opponent got down a Wasteland early, and I was screwed. On a later turn, they played an artifact, and I slammed a Power Sink, forcing them to tap the Wasteland to pay for the Sink, even though the mana I spent still let them have their artifact. On my turn. I played an academy, and won. Good times.

Whenever bosh says wipe away my brain hears “whiteboy”

Regarding Earthcraft, I think they just don't want to unban a reserved list card.

At 21:00 you could have high tide, untap with candles and then echoing truth. You would have ended with 4 more mana

at 20:50 wouldn't you end up with more mana by using Candalabra to untap 4 lands, then clearing the Thalia? You untap 2 more lands that way, netting 2 more mana.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who made that connection. I built my first ever paper magic deck the pioneer lotus precon plus upgrades and it is a ton of fun. I was not at all interested in legacy but this deck seems super interesting to me in a way similar to pioneer lotus. Paper is kinda impossible with the candelabra, but I will definitely try it in MTGO. I expect to lose to a lot of stuff since Legacy cards like brainstorm and force of will are hard to use for newbies like me, but I think it'll be a ton of fun to learn.

I believe the line at 20:50 is high tide, untap with candelabra, then snap, so you can untap all your land that turn. With 9 mana after echoing truth, your mind's desire give you double candelabra untaps for the same line but cast 2nd minds desire for 6

Other than getting your hands on 4 Candelabra, I imagine the pure amount of shuffling will make this deck a nightmare to play in paper

@42 min. This line woulda been awesome if you left one desire in the sideboard. You had just enough mana to wish and cast it for 10 storm and see what happened. Almost guaranteed not to wiff and you still had a land to play for the turn. Seeing the patterns now leaving one for the wishboard looks like a good idea. Maybe even trying 3 main deck if you try this again.

IDK if this is helpful but at 43:00 if there is a Mind's Desire in your board it makes that line very easy. I know Tony Scapone reached a similar conclusion, that Mind's Desire is a very good wish card.

He must have pumped this one right though the pipe line that's incredible.

Reid Duke posted high tide with mind's desire yesterday while EVERYONE ELSE was putting it in ANT for some reason

Lorien revealed gets the mystic sanctuary, draws three off of mind's desire, shuffles after brainstorm without needing a land drop and adds a storm , which, if it replaces a land, its also a plus

This deck should probably have Suspend/Pongify/Rapid Hybridization/Dismember in the sideboard so we can Granted or, postboard, Merchant Scroll for something that solves Bowmasters, Archon of Emeria, or other problem creatures for only one additional mana.

I enjoy when you do storm

I remember playing 4x Snap + 4x Cloud of Faeries briefly in High Tide after Frantic Search was banned. It’s a bit fragile engine, but generates lots of mana and storm. Turn 2: Tide, Faeries, Snap, play Faeries again, Desire for 5 with 2 floating or Spiral (untaps) with 6 mana available.

The old High Tide also played Thawing Glaciers and untapping that over and over caused big land advantage. But that card is way too slow for the current format. If they would unban Frantic Search, this deck would be busted. So good with Tide and nobody got to play Frantic + Minds Desire together.

I think you can min/max the amount of mana you make by waiting until after you resolve mind's desire before activating the candelabra. But then again, at that point you're almost guaranteed to win so it'll be like squeezing a watermelon for value in a 4oz cup.

I’m really excited to see high tide possibly being a real choice in legacy again, High Tide alongside Lands are my two favorite legacy decks of all time. I wish I could of predicted minds desire unban so I could assemble this deck in paper, sadly I only own 1 candelabra for EDH play so it’s extremely unlikely. After mystical tutor was banned high tide lost most of its consistency and thus effectively died as a reliable combo deck. I’m so beyond happy to see the deck here and expectedly many more times in the future!

I'm very confused. Mystical Tutor was never good in the deck or played at all. Neither in Spring/Spiral Tide nor in Solidarity. MD is also a trap card. You don't need candelabras either, you can just run the cloud of fairies + snap engine (which I think is stronger but people may disagree here).

Watching Feline Longmore play High Tide was a highlight of the SCG tournament series for me. High Tide is probably my favorite deck in the format, up there with Elves, and I would put it together if Candlesticks weren't so expensive. I'm excited to see if Mind's Desire helps the deck out.

Your merchant scrolls would feel more powerful with an intuition, cunning wish, or both. 4 sticks feels like too many, also. Can't wait to cast this card in paper!

Hey Bosh, Was wondering would it have been worthwhile keeping a 1 of Mind's Desire in the sideboard for the wish board? In R2 G2 felt like on that line where you were contemplating having a 1 of mind's desire would have netted you 9 instances of Mind's Desire which may have kept that train rolling.

I've been messing with this deck and have found a couple Solve the Equation's in the place of 2 candelabra's good

If you do well in this league then the score is tide.

i know you didnt like the green splash of the last deck. but veil of summer turning off so many things that beat you is solid instead of just relying on dress down.

Literally though about that league after I heard this was unbanned lol, it's like WOTC knew

That match 2 is why I enjoy the side board Mind's desire. Coulda Granted for turnabout, up to 10 mana, granted for mind's desire. ... Profit?

Would Cloud of Faeries have a place in this deck? It allows for the deck to go off a turn sooner, gives a body for chump blocking, adds to storm, etc. And if there’s a main deck tendrils, you could win off a mind’s desire, assuming storm is high enough, without having to worry about clunky wishes and making a million mana to win with blue sun. Between brainstorm and time spiral, you have plenty of ways to keep it in the deck.

I'm wondering if the prevalence of Orcish Bowmasters does anything when evaluating Brainstorm vs Ponder. Is getting mini-blowouts vs brainstorming into a bowmaster enough to make Ponder a better card in deck building considerations when going into match-ups blind? Brainstorm has always been king for most, but is Ponder actually better now?

How do we fit a couple Lorien Revealed in here to further reduce our land count when going off with desire?

is the deck playable without candelabras? or with just singleton copy? I would love to play this deck in paper and have almost everything or can easily get the rest except i only have one candelabra. what would you play in those slots or does it make the deck too much worse where its not a good idea

You should be untapping lands with Candle before you drop below enough mana to untap all of them. The only reason not to is if you're playing another High Tide and can still untap most of your lands. Spending mana that could be doubled on cantrips is just a bad deal for no reason. Double your mana first and cantrip afterwards.
