Great descender, I'm using the Petzl I'D for since 2015, and still very happy with it :)
I have one, I always feel confident in any situation to help if it’s needed.
Best piece of equipment we have out of all of our gear.
We use the Rig to explore Abandoned Mines. It is awesome!

would the id's work with 9.4mm rope? I know its listed as 10.5-11.5 but would it work?

No. Smallest you can go with either is 10.5mm

I hope i never use this for rescue my friends on work
panic saf...ok. but slow, huge, heavy and ugly and it wont let you descend fast enough. no compare to my all time favourite the "petzl stop" which is also great for woring and descending loads...
