I criticized Medford Knives for poor and dull factory edge. How did @MedfordKnifeTool react?

Bam, bam, problem fixed?! He’s one and done, Lady and Gentlemen! In 4 hours flat Greg Medford solves his big production issue. Pardon my scepticism but… this only works in political speeches and Disney cartoons. We are not at the DNC convention and we are not 9 years old so let’s cut the crap.
On September 19 th Greg Medford responded with 2 live videos:

I purchased a MedFord 187 DP probably 3 years ago. I called the MedFord Company and told lady on phone it didn’t flip open very well it’s too tight. The 6 gunner pivot needs to be tweaked just barely. She raised her voice on phone said don’t you touch it. I never called back and never purchased another MedFord knife either.

I don't think your video should be taken down and it was weak of him to ask you to do so. Buyers deserve your honest reviews and these reviews help ensure that you are getting your money's worth. As a veteran I try to support veteran-owned businesses, but just can’t with these guys. That said, to each their own. It’s your right to support whoever you wish, just as it was your right to expose what he clearly knows is their fault. He sort of owns it in a brief moment of clarity (doing damage control for what he knows equates to a bunch of shit edges out there), but then quickly goes off script back to his comfort zone of trash-talking nonsense. Love that he calls you out for not handling in a gentlemanly way, and instead of living by those standards he acts like an entitled, uncouth hypocrite.

Don't take down your previous reviews. Не вставай раком для медфорда. You articulated objective (and valid) concerns about product quality. Your constructive criticism forced (hopefully) a company to reevaluate its process. In a free market, that's exactly how business should work. If Medford makes the necessary corrections then you can do him a solid and update your review with a follow-up. If quality doesn't improve, Greg can continue "bitching" about folks pointing out that his shit does stink.

Any manufacturer of anything considered "premium", should have ultra strict quality control inspections, to avoid embarrassing videos of their flawed products, whether these products are blades or any other type of product. This is why the legit Chinese manufacturers are gaining very rapid growth and popularity with their budget and premium blades, at reasonable price points. A premium Reate blade, made in China, will put most of the world's blade manufacturers to shame. They are considered world class, and for their high prices, they're still a "bargain" when compared to brands like Medford.

I own four Medford knives and have owned many in the past. They are great built knives but yes….they most all, do have their quirks. But many knife companies do have quirks too. However, as long as people have been complaining about certain quality control issues, one would think they would be fixed by now. Such as, LOCK STICK and LOCK FAIL. I still see so much of this in Medford knives. The one thing that would fix lock stick that most companies have figured out….lock insert. Another to fix lock fail…..steel lock insert. Steel against titanium just….does not….work. My one suggestion….use steel lock inserts on all knives produced. And yes….when a knife is 900 bucks but as soon bought…..the market says “nope….that is a 500-600 knife”, then there might be something else to look at….price.

@@CuttingBoardRx never held a Rainmaker, but from what I've seen they're not particularly similar. Obviously the harpoon blade is a big difference, but even on the basic drop point, the only seeming commonality is the hollow grind. M48 blade doesn't have the swedge, adds an interesting triangular grind on the tip (Magnus tip?), and a very subtle curve on the spine of the blade that, amongst other things, breaks up the geometry of the design overall, and prevents it being too rectangular. Handle is skeletal and seemingly utilitarian, but despite looking plain, very very ergonomic. You can't tell from pictures, but there's a lot of subtlety throughout the knife. Grew on me, once sharpened, to the point where it's what i reach for first every day, even before the SHFs or CRKs. It's so much more of a hidden hard worker, that still manages to look like a quiet and restrained folder. As I said, genuinely wasn't expecting it to fascinate me as much as it does.

There’s a shop tour video Medford posted 4 years back where he talks to the sharpener dude who’s learning how to sharpen on his Day 1 on the job. That’s YOUR $700 knife he’s learning how to sharpen on! Idiot!

I watched your 1st vid&agreed that the grinds were shit. I watched Gregg's response vid&agreed with him that it was kind of a cunty vid seeins how ya didn't talk to him 1st before postin the vid. I don't own a Medford but definitely woulda taken the opportunity to talk to the man himself if I woulda gotten a shit blade like you clearly did if for no other reason than to see what his step to action woulda been. I waffled back&forth on the thumbs up/down button, but before I got to the end of your vid I left it on thumbs up because of your promise of a in house shop visit&potential elimination of 1st vid posted. Like you&Gregg I firmly believe in free speech&think also this vid will get the community talkin&agreein on what is expected from the makers especially concerning quality control. I subscribed to your channel&will keep watchin. Killer channel&topic of conversation brother!!

Why didn't you just call the company and talk to them about the problem? Then make a video of his response to you. Why make a video bitching about it? You slander a guy and his company for something that happens to everyone every day. And then people want to talk crap about his response to your video. Anyone that says they wouldn't be upset with a video like yours is lying.
