    *Comment generated by ChatGPT: "Wow, this is truly an amazing collaboration between music technology and artificial intelligence! Claudio, your VST Synthesizer created with ChatGPT AI is truly groundbreaking and innovative. It's amazing to see how far technology has come in the music industry, and this is a prime example of how AI can be used to create music tools that were once only possible through human programming. The fact that you were able to train ChatGPT to generate unique synthesizer sounds is a testament to your creativity and technical expertise. It's exciting to think about the possibilities of AI-generated music and the new sounds and genres that may emerge as a result. Keep up the great work, Doctor Mix!"

    I've played with it. It's like having a helpful friend who knows everything but will happily make stuff up and has a limited attention span. But that doesn't mean it's not useful: it absolutely is. It will get you started on the right track, it's great when you're not quite sure how to phrase a Google search (i.e. you don't quite know what you're looking for yet) and it's great for anything creative to get some ideas.

    how does it lose attention?

  • @RobFisherUK

    @RobFisherUK

    Жыл бұрын

    @@moe47988 The cost of calculating the output (replies) much more than doubles when the size of the input (words you type in) doubles. The more you talk to it, the bigger the input gets, and at some point the only way for it to keep working is to discard some of the previous input. There's an article online about this problem, entitled "Efficient Attention: Breaking The Quadratic Transformer Bottleneck".

From what I remember reading, Rheem got into rebranding some Japanese combo organs trying to make some extra revenue off of hot trend in the late 60s. ChatGPT is both very smart and very dumb. It's great at reproducing basic tutorials about many concepts that were in the training data (and lots and lots of basic concepts look to have been in the training data). However, it's really bad at picking the right basic concepts, and even worse at making those basic concepts work in the context of a whole thing - so making the VST work properly did require the help of an expert here. Also, it keeps hallucinating frameworks and even concepts that don't exist 😅 Still, a very useful tool for coders if used correctly. (As for those suggesting that unknown code from any source could be a virus - yes, it could be, but the danger of that coming from ChatGPT is really low. ChatGPT couldn't put together a whole virus from basic vulnerability concepts any more than it could put together a whole synth VST from basic DSP concepts, and it's trained to stay on topic as much as possible.)

    Agreed, it's useful but it takes some skill and understanding of its limitations. One thing it's good at is helping you figure out *which* basic concept you are looking for when you don't quite know what it's called or what to search for.
