I created a magic system like Brandon Sanderson!

In this writing vlog I created a Brandon Sanderson style magic system! I've been excited for this one ever since I thought of the idea!! And if you are at all interested in magic systems this one is for you 🙂
The writing vlog includes my research into and analysis of Brandon Sanderson's magic systems, a reveal of what I've got so far with my magic, my process of applying the lessons I learned from studying Brandon Sanderson's magic systems to my own!
This was a ton of fun, can I say that enough times? Probably not. It was so much fun! Seriously why are you still reading this description, watch the video!
What do you think of this writing vlog? Do you like this style of analysis and then application? What do you think of Brandon Sanderson's magic systems, do you love them as much as I do? Would you like to try creating a Brandon Sanderson style magic system yourself?
Let me know in the comments below and I'll get back to you 🙂

I've been pumped to make this video for weeks and am so happy I finally got to do this! Is there anything from this process for creating magic systems you'd like to try?

This magic system is extremelly similar to mine: it relies on the bond of two people and both have a set of powers that can be external or internal. I wish I could read more about it!

That two person required magic idea is a really good one! When it comes to high cooperation type magic system, I usually think of things like Werewolf the Apocalypse or Pokemon. Where one's relationship with the spirit/pokemon is a important part of the story. With Geas that helps to limit things and provide a clear 'you broke something here' moments. So I think it's a pretty cool ideas.

Thanks, I'm happy you find it intriguing! It might have come to me because of how much I loved the spren/human relationship. I thought it would be interesting to explore a similar relationship, but with two humans who both have powers and potentially competing interests. Excited to see where it goes :)

Hi. I follow the best I can but might have missed some things. You have drafted and written previous novels. I believe you keep the details about the works limited for now and focus on the writing process in your videos. I think they are fantasy books, so that doesnt necessarily mean they have to include magic, but I probably assumed they did. This video makes it seem like a new aspect of a future novel/s. I was curious if your other books include magic. I think your magic system sounds interesting. I like how the different groups have magic that focus on different attributes. It sounds well developed with the abilities each can do. Would you say that way people grow in the magical strength and accumulate currency is a softer system, or will that also have hard rules. Look forward to it. Good luck.

I have used magic in the last series, but as I said in the intro, it wasn't very good😂 this system will be pretty hard magic, but I do anticipate some growth of power. Thanks for watching 🙂

Do you have a template of your magic creation worksheet sheet? The video is scrolling away too fast for screen grabs or writing along to catch the headings, subheadings and categories.
