I need commentary inspiration. . . . note: I really want to finish Matrix but a copyright claim is holding the second one still - Can’t make more if they are going to get immediately demonetized… Got rent to pay 😅 Hope you understand… ONCE it gets cleared I will upload a KZread Cut. IF NOT, for sure a patreon full length will be release for 3 & 4.

    Also, I've seen a theory about the kids' names that makes a lot of sense. Violet's relates to ultraviolet light/her invisibility and forcefields, Dash's name relates to his speed, and how Jack-Jack's name relates to jack of all trades.

    I can see where Evelyn's coming from, but her plan makes no sense. She didn't really *need* to do anything to achieve her goal. Supers were already illegal, and her actions reversed that. The exact opposite of what she wanted. It's not well thought out at all. This movie definitely needed more time to go through another draft.

  • @danaportnoy9153

    So.. here’s my take on this plot hole. Evelyn and her brother don’t think alike or plan things together. My guess is she was perfectly content with how things were, and then when she found out her brother’s plan to bring supers back into the limelight, she had to come up with something that would backfire as a counter measure. It’s kind of like her real goal was to stop her brother from succeeding, without him getting suspicious.

  • @Lokear

    @Lokear

    Ай бұрын

    Her plan was specifically to make sure they stay illegal FOREVER. Public opinion was warming back up to them, especially with her brother's help, so as the above comment said, she had to go along with things until she could make a big enough splash to keep them illegal for a lot longer than they would've been. Still convoluted, but it does make a *little* bit of sense.

  • @nahqiv

    @nahqiv

    Disagree. There was already a movement towards making supers legal again, and it was gaining momentum. She tried to kill the idea in the egg. Also, it was mostly politicians against supers - public opinion wasn't all negative. Evelyn needed to turn that around completely.

    @@danaportnoy9153If she just wanted to stop him, than why not just unalive him. That would be most people's first instincts, and she clearly doesn't think much of her. If anything, it would've made more sense if Winston was in on it, if they were reinforcing their desire to avenge their parents, and his campaign was a ruse to lure heroes in. That would at least be interesting.

  • @1993Warbirds

    @1993Warbirds

    It was only a bad plan because Evelyn didn't get her hands on Violet, Dash, and Jak-Jak. We can see it was her plan to enslave all of the Supers and make them look as horrible as possible to the public. Her plan began to backfire when she didn't realize how resourceful the Three Parr kids would be. It was an all or nothing plan. A plan born of a seething hatred. Evelyn may like to think that she was methodical but her hatred of Supers blinded her.

    2:41 - "Picking up right where we left off ... it's the only way to do it." I actually had been hoping for a time jump. It was released so much later; I was hoping we'd get to see how each of the kids had matured, dealt with their powers, did Jack-Jack's powers coalesce into one thing, or is he still an everything-powered super-super but now with the ability to choose and use them on purpose? Maybe mom and dad are older now, something like that. That's what I was hoping for. But having seen this when it came out, I enjoyed it. Picking up where they left off: you can do that with animation (and the same voice talents). If there is talk of a third episode, NOW I hope they do a bit of a jump. Jack-Jack is super cute as an infant, but that only goes so far. I want to see how kid Jack-Jack deals with his omnipotence. I want to see how Dash and Violet's sibling relationship matures with age. Dash in high school and Violet in college; how do those family dynamics flow? I dunno; something like that. We'll see what the writers come up with. They haven't disappointed yet; I'm sure it'll be... Incredible. (sorrynotsorry)

  • @travissmith2848

    @travissmith2848

    21 сағат бұрын

    Yep. Dash the kid that could do so much better if he'd push himself when he didn't feel the pressure but is a star none the less because he always manages to pull out a number two finish nearly guaranteeing his school makes it to the championships. Nobody would ever suspect him of being the fastest teen in the world! Mom and Dad are older, but active supers tend to age slower so they can still throw down. And we see the beginnings of a new _global_ supers'_ agency. And their headquarters is "The Pantheon". A-Plot is your standard super hero romp. Likely with a bad-guy organization leader. Use the character design for the original baddy from Incred. 1 and retcon him in as the guy that funded the original lawsuits, gave a young Mr. Pine some startup capitol, perhaps even gave Ms. Devor a nudge here and there. Good, solid start for a nearly endless franchise. B-Plot is, of course, learning to let go and dealing with the changes time brings both personally and professionally.

    Evelyn is not an S-tier Pixar villain for me, but she is definitelt A-tier. She is not a megalomanic or a manchild with a god complex (not bashing Syndrome but that does fit). She is a hurt person seething with hatred towards a group of people she believes has made the world a worse place. And her argument makes a lot of sense. When people rely on someone or something to much to protect them, they become complacent and lose their self-preservation instinct. This is what she basically thinks happened to her father. While her brother believes that they would not have died if supers were able to do their jobs, she believes that her dad was incompetent and caused their own demise by relying on others who could not help them instead of using the panic room that they had for situations like the one that killed them. Her brother was a skilled marketer and people person and she knew rhat and respected him for it. She did not love her brother any less, they just had fundemental disagreements. She knew that he was savvy enough to make supers popular enough with the public to be legalized. He was gonna do it with or without her. So she crafted her plan in a way that would presumably keep her brother unaware of what happened but also ensure that supers quandered the good will that they would inevitably build. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Syndrome wanted to be a superhero out of a sense of jealousy and then make himself the last hero by making superpowers the norm. But his plan was flawed because he was flamboyantly arrogant and did not care about people, never imagining his tech could be used against him because he was too smart for that to presumably happen. When it actually mattered, he lost control of his fixed fight and got knocked out in one hit because his tech was way more dangerous than he realized. Evelyn's plan was also arrogant, but was only sabotaged because she underestimated 3 children, one of whom was powerless as far as she knew (but she did not see them as a non threat and tried to neutralize them). She had the greatest heroes of the old and new generations under her control with no effort. She was able to fool nearly everyone around her without seeming at all suspicious. She is a nuanced mastermind who has a strong motivation and compelling argument with a plan that had everything to succeed.

    Hard to believe that it took more than a decade for this to come out but the end result was definitely worth it. Like you said, the animation is very refined and precise than the predecessor, we get to see the kids finally earning their stripes and embracing their family name, especially Jack-Jack with his abilities being unleashed for the first time since that preview from the first and his animated short and last, but not least, we have another antagonist who is the complete opposite of Syndrome but gives the same Lex Luther vibes. While he wanted the everyday people to reach their full potential with his inventions, Evelyn’s goal was to ban the enhanced individuals with her hypo technology because she fears that we’ve overly dependent on them for our wellbeing. Hence the reason why humans fear and despise in every way, like the Avengers and the X-Men of the Marvel universe combined. See you on the next one, Angelina.

    Please can we get Edna's backstory movie? Pleeeeeeeaase? Here's how I'd pitch it: No rags to riches story. We've got enough of those, and we all know goddamn well Edna Mode is too fabulous to have come from nothing. Born into the high life fashion world, the thing that makes her different is a desire to design for supers, as well as a genius with tech. Think rich girl who had all the resources to make a difference, except she actually did. She made a name for herself by being the first designer to incorporate their powers into the suit. We see her become the icon we know her to be. Life couldn't be better. Then the cape controversy happens, and supers dying from cape related accidents start appearing regularly in the papers. The movies about her coming back on top despite it. Maybe even show that the other designers were paid by bad guys to add capes, but Edna only did it because she thought it was the trend, so of course because the other designers have some kind of protection, her name is essentially the only one being smeared. I should reiterate: DO NOT ABSOLVE HER OF GUILT. Make it very clear she made a serious mistake that cost many innocent supers' lives, but that doesn't mean she should have to pay for it the rest of her life. How does she do it? She remembers who she is, and what her God given talent is: designing super suits with the supers in mind. And thus, she threatens to start firing anyone who dares to try and add capes to her designs going forward, but because all these people have worked with her for years, not one of them dare to contradict her. If she says no capes, no capes it shall be. Before long, the cape trend dies out until they're only ever seen in Halloween costumes, and cape related accidents never darken a newspaper headline again. Until the ending, where Edna's walking out of a room for a meeting, leaving behind a newspaper showing a super being slandered in the papers, thus starting the lawsuits.

    I can’t see the cape thing being some huge villainous conspiracy. It works better for it to be a simple err in judgement regarding aesthetic vs function.

    4:13 In all fairness, if the Incredibles had done nothing, the Underminer's vehicle wouldn't have come out of the ground the second time and made its way down the street. We would have just had the first sequence, then the Underminer would have just robbed the bank and left.

    Why then pop out of the ground and announce himself and menace the population then? If he had no intention of harming anyone and just wanted the money it would have been cleaner and at least as easy to just hit the vault from below and leave.

    Is Edna Mode a little person? I've tried to look it up, but have not found any definitive source to confirm or deny. Animated characters are often exaggerated anyway; just because she is short, she may not have intentionally been drawn as a little person, or someone with dwarfism. Mr. Incredible is quite a big guy, but he's not a giant. So if anyone happens to know of a quote or a canon source of information, let us know! PS Bob's boss in the first film was also extremely small in stature, especially when compared to the big-ness of Bob. He may or may not have intentionally been a little person?

    What? Evelyn Deaver was the Evil Endeavor? Never saw that coming... Fix Elastigirl's storyline and the villain, and keep the technology consistent for the 90s then this movie is significantly better

    Maybe it's just me, but I feel the villain's motivations in this movie are backwards. Her father was killed by 2 robbers because he was relying on superheroes to come save him after they had to go into hiding. So, her plan is to get mind controlled superheroes to stage a terrorist attack to keep them in hiding. But at the same time, by doing this she will prevent those heroes from saving the day & more innocent people will get hurt. Plus, if she can mind control people, why not find a way to use her technology to stop criminals & make a profit in city defense programs instead?

    Because she blamed the heroes for getting her parents killed. To her it’s how people were dependent of heroes the problems, not people doing bad things. She didn’t want to keep them in hiding, she wanted to make sure no one would ever be a supe by destroying every credibility and support they had
