After 2 years of living in vehicles, I finally decided to share how I do it. Good bye rent, hello savings.
I downsized from living in a Sprinter van into an SUV camper, and now, I'm downsizing EVEN MORE and testing out this tiny new solar camper car. So, check out this full tour!

    Some very creative ideas. Window covers will hide your interior, but solar panels on the roof give away the fact that you're probably living in the car. Stay safe.

    Your car conversion is brilliant. Just one question... About the bed. Could you have made a bigger gap in the wood panel into the trunk or hinged part of it to lift up at night so one could sleep on one's side instead of only lying flat?

  • @kimberlygraham8565
    @kimberlygraham8565 Жыл бұрын

    The bed would be a bit claustrophobic for me personally but the rest is very creative & I love the whole idea of a car home - stealth living and travel wherever & whenever. I think I’d do the SUV. My favorite vehicle was my 8 passenger (two full benches) 2008 Ford Expedition EL. That would’ve been easy to convert. I’m short enough that I could sleep across the middle seat. I’d fold the back seat flat and toss in sleeping bags for camping with the kids; back then they were little enough to fit comfortably.

  • @solarcampercar

    @solarcampercar

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you, Kimberly for dropping a comment. The 2008 Ford Expedition EL would be a great choice, it has 130 cubic feet, a bit smaller than the suburban but still larger than MOST SUV's out there! And, being able to fit horizontally is a cool little perk haha

    You are so smart and creative. Idea. The panel can be cut just enough to hold the seat. For storage you can add a net to the ceiling and store the blanket or fold behind the seat, this way you have more room to sleep. The kitchen counter can be lower, you don't keep too many items in the first drawer or make that drawer smaller and it's still lower. Use a black leather like cover so people won't be bothering you with questions. It is a neat idea, you are so creative.

My sister is renting a kitchen to cook and sell salsas. I bet you can also rent a kitchen when you need it. At that place they charge $45 a month for food storage, $12 and hour to cook with min of 4 times a month. Drop in and cook $20 per hour. So far I see about 5 kitchens in my area. There may be more by your work or less expensive. Maybe once you are use to it you can bring your own small table to save and just prep your food without using the kitchen part and just pay for food storage.

    Hey, I liked your car set up and I would like to see the videos you were talking about on how you built it into a camper, but I've been searching for them and I can't find them anywhere!, did you take them down or KZread took them down?

    I got a sprinter van but honestly a car would be dope! Bc I already know how to fix the majority of stuff on a car but alittle more learning for diesel and just had to get towed off a mountain bc my brakes couldn't handle getting back down

    This is actually great timing and inspiration, as I myself have been considering this exact same concept with the same generation Camaro I have. I work 12 to 16 hours a night, 6 to 7 nights a week, and commute as much as 750 miles a week. That is not only time consuming, requiring 2 to 3 hours of driving out of my sleep time, it can be costly with a 6.2L V8 performance engine using premium 91 octane fuel, costing between $100 - $150 a week in fuel. I am able to mitigate the time and cost from time to time sleeping at or near work, but that can sometimes be tricky to accomplish. I have considered this as a solution, Though I would have to execute it differently with my 5th Gen Camaro SS soft top. But you have demonstrated that it can in fact work, Thank You. Please add a link for the seat covers, mine are starting to show wear and tear and I would like to protect them. Would love to meet you and see this in person if you are ever in the Nashville area.

    its completely impractical in a Camaro you can buy something with a 4 cylinder motor and way more room for like $1500 bucks and actually turn it into a camper, but your the kind of guy with a soft top Camaro so why have common sense.

    Hey Arslan, great videos! I recently discovered your channel and loved your videos and approach. QUESTION: At minute 8:20 you talk about a “Build series”, I looked at all your videos and I’m unable to find it. Can you help me out? Thanks in advance and stay safe.

    Interesting build. Amazed you made it work with you being 6ft. I’m 5’4” and I don’t know if I could live in a car especially a coup.. I got broad ass shoulders lol 🤷🏻‍♂️ not sure about it being “stealth”, solar on the roof is a dead giveaway. Otherwise props for making it work for you🤙🏼

    I'm planning some car camping trips this spring and summer in my Audi A7. With the backseat backs laid down, it's pretty spacious with the hatchback for access. Probably will rig an awning/tarp so I can have the hatch open and hang out at the rear of the car and cook too.

    Have you thought off making the port above your bed double hinged to swing up when sleeping? So you could rollover sleeping?

    I don't like that you can't sleep on your side, but other than that this is extremely impressive. I really like what you did with the SUV as well. Cool to see you converting less conventional vehicles. I built out my Honda Element and lived in it for a year. Would love to see what you would do with that space!
