My local coin shop has wheat penny rolls for 2.50 a roll and I have found some really outstanding coins! I even found an MS 67 steel cent, which is the best I ever found coin roll hunting! Some day I will find that elusive 1955 P DDO!!!! !!!!!!

We had a 5 gallon water bottle full of cash and change for my grandson, Unfortunately a person stole a lot of cash. So we decided to dolley it to the dining room and start rolling it up. He handed me a coin saying it was a foreign coin. Lol. It was a 1898 Indian I think, it's been a while. But it started a history lesson and now, small collectors. Nothing fancy but definitely some money. Found 4 Privy quarters etc. Neither one of us give out change at the store, so we can bring home the change to look through together. I love my grandson!

Even if I knew nothing about coins and I saw coins wrapped up and with writing on them, I would try to find out what it was all about, especially in this day and age. Anyway, thank you Pam for showing us that we can still walk into a bank and walk out with a roll or 2 or 34 (lol) of wheat pennies. And thank you Quinn for sharing! Great video! 👍

Fantastic collection. Superb identification of the rolls. Thank you, Pam, for sending these in to the show. It's amazing to see what is out there and what people collect. I collect birthdates. 68, 87, 97, 99, 2000, 2010, 2020, 2021, and 2023. Doesn't matter the denomination. If it has one of these dates, it goes into 2x2 and binders. These are mine, girlfriends, kids, and grandkids birthdates. As I find 1902, 04, 12, 14, 36, and 37 coins, they get them as well. There just aren't many in circulation, if any. Then, for my grandkids, I'm extending what my 1902 grandfather did for me. He gave me a 1921 Peace Dollar. Beings I have a grandchild from 2021 this coin is labeled from x to y to z in hopes they will extend it further. For the 20 and 23 grandkids, I'm getting 1920 and 1923 Dollars for them. Then, for the kids and inlaws, I'm getting proof coins of their birth year. I just hope they recognize the time I'm taking to build each collection and they hold onto them. But once I'm gone, I don't have much to say, do I? All of this is from pocket change and coin roll hunting. Though on occasion I'll buy an error of these years to add to them and obviously the 100 year old coins and proofs. Those are deliberate. Heck, I might add some 200 year old coins in time.

3 weeks ago my 8 year old son found an 1890 Indian Head penny in a pile of change. A week later we went to a local coin show and really got introduced to the hobby. My son is in love with the treasure hunt aspects of the hobby, so much so we've run out of coins for him to search, organize, research etc. Seems like online auctions and such are an expensive way to go. Any suggestions on how to find penny rolls would be appreciated.

AWESOME VIDEO😊😊😊😊. I have been collecting coins since I was about 4...5 years old. (56+ now) and in the past year and a half I have been lucky enough to get at my bank on 3 different occasions **3** different what I believe then to be someone else's collection that someone 😔died😔 and a wife, husband, child, etc. found them and thought "🤔Hmmm pennies, I'll roll em up and take em to the bank😊😊😊 and I LUCKED OUT (again ***3*** different times. I time I got 2 boxes and when ya find *1* coin from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s it's like 😳🤯🥳🥳YESSSS!!!😊😊😊. Those 2 boxes were FULLLLL of BRIGHT orange brand new condition pennies. SO MANY of the same years...for example....120 2006s, 97 2005s, 68, 1886s etc, etc. Also I look at EVERY coin (including those with 2 different magnifying glasses (different magnifications of course) The second time approximately a month or so after that I received another 2 boxes at my bank and THOSE were FULL of 70s, 80s and 90s SO MANY in AMAZING condition (you call them "coin dumps"😌) I was FREAKING OUT 😳🥳🤣🤣. Then the 3rd time😌😌....3 boxes and again jist finding ONE penny in great condition is SMILES-A-PLENTY😊😊. In those 3 boxes there were SOOOO MANY IN UNBELIEVABLE AMAZING CONDITION late 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. In almost every roll or every other roll (a few times it was every 3rd roll there was a 1960 SUPER BRIGHT AMAZING CONDITION. It was SO RIDICULOUS and almost UNBELIEVABLE towards the end I made a video (my first EVER and low and behold almost every wrapped roll I opened was 1...2...3....and one had *4* 1960 BEAUTIES in it. Total ending count was OVER 90 of them😳. 109 1977s, 12 1959Ds, etc.,etc......ETC!! After looking at quite a few of the 1960s I noticed there are 5 DIFFERENT double dies that are NOT in Wexler's or Variety Vista or ANY of the main sites or in any of the books I have. FIRST FINDS😊😊😊. Also 3 RPM "FIRST FINDS". Anyway approximately 2 months after that last 6 days (and nights😳🤣) hint of mine I got another 2 boxes at my bank. I found *my* usual doubled dies, RPMs, die clashes, misaligned dies (minor) off center strikes (also minor), ones in great condition, ones that were/are beautifully colored/tinted, strike throughs and anything else I saw as different and/or special. Anyway I was on day (and night) 5 (🤔I think...maybe 4🤔🤣lol.) and I was on my last roll and (this is **NO** JOKE) and as I flipped over the 6th penny from the end of the last roll after going through 2 boxes there was a 1909S VDB (brown but in AWESOME condition.... ESPECIALLY for have been in circulation for 112 years😌. To everyone who reads this....KEEP LOOKING!!🤣🤣 YOU ***NEVER*** know what AWESOMELY COOL coins you'll find☺️

I bought 5 rolls of "junk standing liberty quarters" from APMEX. As soon as I poured them out on the table, I spotted a 1916 in Good-6 condition! The find of my life. I used silver testing acid on the dateless quarters and revealed the date on most of them. I now have nearly a full set of standing liberty quarters (except the 1927-s and 1923-s). I only paid $4.84 each. I found multiple 1921 stq's and the 1919-D was exciting to find as well.

I've caught one dump before. I asked for penny rolls at a gas station and they had three. Out of the rolls, there was a roll's worth of wheat cents throughout the batch. I've also caught one roll of nickels that I assume a coin roll hunter dumped since it was mostly really worn down 64s and a couple 40s-50s nickels that I guess they didn't want

40:30 We remind Dear Reader that the Lincoln cents produced from 1959 to 2008 are properly classified as MEMORIAL cents. MONTICELLO was the home of 3rd President Thomas Jefferson, which you can see on the US five cents ("nickel") made from 1938 to date. So yeah. We totally respect this collector, but he blew it on the classification.

Quin - Michigan....MICHIGAN??? You woulda had better luck meeting garbage truck at dump in 1989. I had one drawer in desk, and on Mom & Dad's move from Howell to Marion, Mom sht canned my Tupperware container labeled, "Erwin's old stamps", because...well, all it had was old stamps and obvious not worth movin'! In Marion, couple years later, Dad's neighbor mentioned Honus Wagner baseball cards from early 1900s. When couldn't find Tupperware container, Dad asked Wicked Witch, now of the North 10-20 of container. She said threw it out moving! They had thrown out SEVEN Honus Wagner cards, 4-mint, 2 others perfect, and one Gramps and Dad would show a close buddy if gloved up! On our next trip up from G.R., I got out of car & Dad led me aside, related above, and said. "It was an honest mistake...PLEASE DON'T HATE HER & PLEASE..PLEASE DON'T KILL HER! Dad got his second wish, but that 1st wish was a tough one. I never smiled again until NOV 2017 when Motha Time caught up to Mom!! It wasn't just the Honus Wagner cards either, it was all of Ty Cobb's baseball card proofs too, together with couple hundred mint Ty Cobb baseball cards, as was Gramp's best friend. Enjoyed watchin' you sort thru pennies though, but not a collector of anything myself, as found out it could be too heart breaking.....

I'm not sure if the local banks machines are different, but I find quite a few steel pennies in boxes from the local banks. Usually onyl in the Lumis boxes.

I love dumping my own jugs out to literally find a little of nothing.. and this seems to be why.. other folks stock piling. 😢 😢 😭. I absolutely love the grind, the rarity and history of each coin or note that I FIND and would never sell my collection even though it has some value.

What do u mean, that it wasnt plated? Plated w/what? Zinc? If u say copper, that wouldnt be happening anyways…

@@6980869 the original coins weren't zinc plated, but a lot of the survivors that are in decent shape today are. i have four of those i bout a while ago, before i knew any better. plating a 43 with copper ABSOLUTELY would happen if you are a thief or scammer. the 43 copper is very... monetarily advantaged...

Well that's interesting: there's someone out there like me. I rolled a bunch of American pennies over 45 years ago, put the dates on the outside of the wrappers and hung on to them. I'm in Canada but kept all my American pennies from my paper routes. Someday I'll die, my grandkids will inherit them and probably turn them into the bank for some collector like yourself to find. I know there are no valuable coins in them, but they'll still be exciting for someone.

Awesome hunt. I used to get amazing deals on ebay for rolls of wheaties. Now, people want insane amounts. Normally when metal detectorists find a wheatie, they're like ehhh a wheat penny.......but when I find one I flip out. Lol.

Fun stuff. A couple months ago a teller called me regards 147 rolls of nickles from a collection that I could buy but never return to the bank, so I bought them. Almost $300 worth. 147 rolls uncirculated, full rolls, 1959 Philly to 1990P. For example 8 rolls of BU 1968D.. 5 from 1960, 14 of 1981P. Not sure what to do with them.
