Just to inform Think and others, Barnaby isn’t a bat, he’s a OWL. His lore isn’t very much revealed, but it seems he died and now just is, well like that.

That character that you saw in the painting was actually someone from a different series called Welcome home. There's more easter eggs on the other paintings, one of them is a character from the game that inspired this game called: A Hat in Time.
