I am going through a lot of stress and depression as I'm unemployed and constantly applying jobs throughout the whole day. Then I stumbled an ad showing poverty in Yemen and children suffering from malnutrition. I cried because of how pathetic I am being selfish and thinking about my situation while my Muslim brothers and sisters are going through million times worse than me. Now I cry for the Ummah and not for myself. I can bear the test which ALLAH has given and I want ways that I can help the Muslim Ummah in shaa ALLAH.

I totally understand, we all should be grateful to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ because there are always people who have it worse, but sweetheart I just want to remind you, to not feel bad about yourself. You are not selfish, if you need help, seek help! You can be grateful and still suffer from mental illnesses, so don't invalidate yourself, because we as humans, all have our own problems, what I'm saying is: yes we should be grateful, but we also shouldn't invalidate ourselves. You have your own problems too, so take care of yourself, and be kind to yourself, I repeat, you are not selfish. Obviously, in this world, things are getting harder each day, many people are seeking jobs, and why do we need jobs? Because we want to earn, and take care of our families, and help other people too, yes, spending in the way of Allāh is what we want to do. There is nothing wrong with wanting to find a job, especially if you have the right reasons: pleasing none other than Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ. I pray that you can heal, just don't think of yourself as selfish, because trust me, that's not the way! You have your own problems too and there is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, and trying to do the best for people around you, only for the sake of Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ. Just remember to always be kind, and pay off charity, to please Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ only. Your feelings are valid I hope you know that. We as humans should take care of ourselves too, so being grateful does not mean, you should stop doing what's best for you and the others around you, and I'm sure Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ wants that from you as well. Think about it this way: if you find a job, you can earn, you can take care of your family (obviously that's something very pleasing to Allāh), and another great thing: you can even help those people who are suffering from malnutrition around the world, so think positive and don't bring yourself down. وَعَلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ.

It takes time and effort, but trust that you will come out of it, even if it seems impossible. I would highly recommend that you do not go through this alone - make sure you have someone you can TRUST to talk to (family member or a professional). Dear Depression Those overwhelming constant negative thoughts of despair is destructively debilitating. The World around you moves but you stand still. Depression is chaos spreading havoc. Happy days and happy thoughts become a fading memory. How do you fight emotions or thoughts you don't understand. They say, Depression is a blessing in disguise, You can't see it when your looking forward. If you persevere into the unknown trusting the Creator has your best interests in mind, Eventually you will see the end of that long dark empty tunnel. The stress of trials and tribulations negatively affecting you or your surroundings Will in time Mould and shape you into the best you. It is not an easy path but we can only go forward even if you have no sense of direction. I ask the Almighty to keep us on the rignt path and keep us firm believers. You won't understand what depression is untill you have experienced it. But as Allah the Boss says, After hardship comes Ease.

And we sent down this quran as a healing for what is in your breasts. Soul is an affair of your Lord. Mankind is not given knowledge of it except a little. Dont assume about staffs you will not be given knowledge of. Its upon Allah to guide not you. Allah has given this life and He will give the the next. So dont spread lies About Allah. Jazāk Allāhu Khayran for this. As someone, who suffers from a bunch of mental illnesses, it's so frustrating that so many people refuse to understand what mental illness really is, and honestly I learnt one thing: mental illness is something people don't understand unless they go through it themselves. I've suffered from anxiety (more specifically OCD and panic disorder, in addition, recently I've been feeling like I might be on the autism spectrum as well because I show a lot of signs, I'll get that checked too) since I was 14, I'm currently 17, people around me would tell me that I'm just stressing all the time, and I should 'stop' stressing, and leave things to God, but trust me it's not easy, that's the thing. You can't just stop it. I have uncontrollable anxiety, sometimes I'm having a good day, no stress, no bad, just happiness and positivity, I'd just be going about my day, then suddenly, my heartbeat would gradually go up, I'd start sweating, I'd start feeling anxious for absolutely no reason, it's so sickening! I would try to calm myself down and tell myself that it's okay, I'm safe, there's nothing wrong, I shouldn't stress myself, but it doesn't stop, because it's so uncontrollable, it's scary, Allhumdulillāh everytime I remind myself of Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ I would feel a lot better, but you see, mental illness is mental illness. If it was that easy to get rid of, it wouldn't be called 'illness'. What people don't understand is: you can be close to God and still suffer from mental illness, trust me on this. Remaining close to God gives me hope, it's what keeps me from giving up Allhumdulillāh, but even after I've gotten closer to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ, I suffer from crippling anxiety, and I know it's a test from God. It's not even under my control most of the times, it can come anytime, and I'd just have a whole panic attack. Allhumdulillāh, I do not have clinical depression, but depression is no different, let me tell you. I just know. It drains people, it makes them feel helpless, yes relying on God helps so much, but sometimes you'll nonetheless suffer from it, and like I said depression is a mental illness too, you cannot snap out of it. Depression makes you feel like you can't do anything, you want to do something, but you just can't, and for that reason people call you 'lazy'. It's not really getting lazy, it's just, depression makes you feel useless, it drains you and makes you feel like you can't do anything. It's similar to anxiety: it makes you feel like you have no control. Anyways, I just want to say, don't ever think of mental illness as something that you can just snap out of, if it was that easy, it wouldn't be an illness. Stay close to Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ for it is what will help you, Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ is always there for you, I promise, stay strong for His sake only. I'll also leave this here for some people: stop telling others stuff like, 'You're mentally ill because Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is angry at you, and shaytan is with you. Get closer to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ, maybe He'll have mercy on you, and also your mental illness will go away. People who are close to Allāh are always happy.' now let me tell you what's wrong with this (and this is something people around me have always told me), firstly telling someone who is severely mentally ill, that Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is angry at them, is the most damaging thing ever! No it does not mean that Allāh عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is angry at you, who told you that? It could be a test from Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ too. Moreover, when people would tell me things like that, I would feel depressed and guilty, I started developing religious OCD, because I thought Allāh maybe dislikes me, so I started stressing too hard! This advice is just not it. Now, getting closer to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ surely helps you so much, but then saying that 'people who are close to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ are always happy' is wrong, because we as humans are not always happy, and yes you can be close to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ and still have mental illnesses, that does not mean Allāh dislikes you! If I were to correct this, I would say, people who are close to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ are somehow always at peace! I, as a mentally ill person, find a lot of comfort knowing that this is a test from Allāh, and I always stay patient for His sake only, I find a lot of comfort in doing so. So yes, staying close to Allāh does not mean you'll always be 'happy' and 'cheerful', rather what staying close to Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ does is, it gives you hope, and it keeps your heart at peace in some way. Knowing that Allāh is always there for you, always listening to you, and He Almighty, tests those who He loves the most, gives people hope, and acts as a reminder for them to never give up, because they'll eventually earn huge rewards for staying patient for His سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ sake. I hope I educated you a little more on this topic. :)

One thing I would say, is read Surah Duha, Subhanallah, it blows me away the translation, when I feel sad I listen and read that surah, and it's like my hammer to breaking the sadness that comes into my mind, it's my protector, it is the divine word of Allah, it is from the Quran! ❤💪☝ Allahu Akbar

If anyone is going through OCD or intrusive thoughts, please remind yourself that whatever thought is making you uneasy or disturbing you is from shaytan. Once you realise that YOU are not the whispers of shaytan, you will overcome it. Shaytan whispers and hides, making you think that the thought is from you, when in reality it is from him. I remember iwas depressed since my childhood and now I'm 18 yr old, every abusive talk ,mokery, backbite was effecting at such high level that I wished that I hadnt come in duniya cause i thought that every body is just like whom iwas watching since my child hood ,I was quiet girl from the starting and was being mocked at my hesitation in talk ,the way I loved to live alone and was used in such embrassing ways and adding the faith issue ,cause so much movie ,music was going by my side and this all had influenced me badly.. I became low self esteemed,it made me anti social more and more and there is no confidence left to interact even with my family. I felt that music was the relief ..how stupid I was. I didn't commited suicide just because of one hope that Allah is watching me ..if I'm gonna patient ,he will reward me ... Everyday I felt that I was not good enough .. so in the hope of help from allah I started to search into the treatments then I realised that what I see and hear has an great impact on me If I see and hear good thing according to islam more I will find relief so I couldn't change people around me so I made a better environmnt in my cell phone I stopped music and movies and with the help of allah I found mufti menk ,ramadan ,siedd then Kamal Saleh and then one path network who helped me so much to make my life better.❤️ Its all mercy of allah( SWT) Now I'm not feeling lonely anymore.. someone having good intention and understanding can drastically help change an individuals quality of life. The past is now non existent and as human beings we hold certain memories that can be triggering which can lead to depression and anxiety as well as picking up certain traits in order to survive and protect ourselves through defense mechanisms. We can have several defense mechanisms but understanding why we do the things we do, and the behaviours we embed into our life can be overwhelming. When you are able to label what you are going through, you gain so much power over it. YOU are in control. Allah swt has blessed us with a brain and we all hold an individual power each and every one of us and that is the power of choice. When we make the choice to seek professional help on the things we dont understand we are then able to truely change our lives for the greater good. Allah swt says: "I will change the circumstances of the people when they change themselves"

2:13 the point about watching TV series to relate to their situation This is an interesting point, because I used to listen to music that I "connected with" of course we know that Music is haram, and I don't listen to it Alhamdulillah, but the antidote for this is watch series which portray good values, Islamic values, Ertugrul, that series I love it, you have Sheikh Ibn Al Arabi, he always has wise words to say that reflects not only on the characters in the scene, but myself as well and its that positive hidden messages which people need to hear!

I appreciate this Podcast so much. Thank you very much for sharing this. I have a severe depression for a long time and I realized the way I was coping with my illness was wrong because I was fully depended on my faith level. I still haven't found out the cause for my depression but I will work hard to get treatment and return to Allah with a healthy mind. Like you said, purpose is very important for your mental health. I hope I will be able to find my purpose and keep it in my mind throughout my life and be istiqamah with it. I don't know how to handle my anxiety and worries yet but I hope Allah will lead me throughout my journey to become healthy again. Once again, thanks for this eye-opening Podcast. For me I had a emotional breakdown when I was 13 because I was triggered from unresolved trauma & I had no idea what was going on but suddenly I complained that we dont understand the Qur'an, like I said I thought it came out of nowhere. Alhamdulillah I figured it out now & I was shocked because someone who is non-muslim told me not to worry & trust what they're saying, because of it I cried because I felt like getting closer to Allah from there in light of the situation. First of all its something meaningful to me to begin with then we know Allah SWT says to not worry in the Qur'an, so no wonder it hit so hard. Allahu Akbar. Not that it was only thing I realized.

Bism AllahAlRahman AlRaheem. "The Most beloved to Allah are the one most beneficial" there is another aya saying "وَلَا تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَّحْسُورًا (29)" my question is actually about that God puts us into tests and i believe that God does not need that. Subhan Allah HE is bigger than that EXALTED IS HE SUBHANAHU WA TAAALA. I mean if this is that then surely I can believe that actually Allah does not really put us into tests
