Interesting facts. The driver’s name is Samandar. The capital city of the ancient Turkish-Jewish state Khazar Empire was the city of Samandar. Btw they call the Caspian Sea as a “Khazar Sea”. “Xezer” in local Azerbaijani. Most probably the Azerbaijanis are the descendants of the Khazars. Azerbaijani people are ethnic Turks. Still lots of Jews live in Azerbaijan, especially in the northern, central parts of the country, and in Baku as well. Perhaps you can go to visit the only Jewish settlement in the world outside of Israel, “The Red Town” in Quba city. Most people call it “Jerusalem in the Caucasus”.

Carrie , When eating fish, I recommend dipping the fish in pomegranate sauce, which is called "Nar Sharab" and belongs to Azerbaijani cuisine. 1 time with pomegranate sauce if you try fish, you will always want to eat fish with pomegranate sauce..

I was born and raised in Baku, but seemingly and quite certainly you have travelled far more places in my country than I had so far. I am kind of jealous, I will admit. But it is good to learn about your own country from a tourist :)

thank you Carrie for the cool videos, next time I advise you to visit the city of Lenkoran, this is the south of the country, a very beautiful city, a lot of tangerines, oranges, and that fruit that you drank in the form of compote is called feijoa.😊

I miss them very much in London, because here they are kind of plastic with no taste and it takes ages to cook them. I am watching your vide to get some tips where to take my guests, because I haven't been in Baku for the long time. I am thinking to go there next year with some of my British friends.

Very nice video. You need visit explore Seaside Boulevard, there's Hali Museum and Venice cruise ship tour, then there's Philharmonic Garden Park, there's Philharmonic Garden next to Inner City Metro, go there, take a video, it's beautiful. There is a Funicular near Azneft Square, go with it to Dag-Usdu Park, there are Azerbaijani and Turkish Martyrs, the whole of Baku looks special from Dag-Usdu Park.Go to the White City. If you have time, there is a Train Station next to the May 28 subway, where you can buy a ticket for the Fast Train and go to Sumgayit, the second largest and most beautiful city in Azerbaijan. Have a nice travel day 🙂🇦🇿

To be honest, white city is maybe entertaining for us Azerbaijanis but for her as someone from the UK its not impressive as it is a replica of London-Parisian style buildings.

No I used my insta 360 on a 3 metre pole! Has a drone feel.. you can bring drones into Azerbaijan but need to get a license before you arrive.

Why didn't they serve you the insanely delicious Narsharab (pomegranate sauce) with the fish. It is a crime to eat fish without narsharab)). Narsharab is a sauce that is made only in Azerbaijan and it is insanely delicious. I know Brits are very fond of using different sauces in their food, I'm sure you would love the narsharab sauce. All British people who come to Baku as tourists and those who work in Baku take this wonderful sauce back home with them in boxes. Next time you are in Baku, you should try this magic sauce. And if you want, I can send you this sauce by mail. I'm quite serious.
