That's a GREAT book, was actually Steve Oliff's FIRST work for Marvel. Steven Oliff is an amazing colorist. His mother used to frequent our families restaurant and found out that we were collectors/dealers back in the early 90's. When she saw some books on the counter one day, she said "my son does the coloring for that". Turns out his studio, Olyoptics, was just south of us about a 50-60 minute drive along the California Hwy 1 coast in a small town called Point Arena. She said she didn't see him very often as the drive was hard for her(she in her late 70s at the time and had bad arthritis). She said we could go look at his studio if we wanted, that she would call and arrange it. So we said, better yet, why don't we drive you down to see him! So we all went and visited his studio. He had a LOT of cool sculptures, a LOT of original art for his own character "Armature". Armature, after a few backup stories in a few Image titles got it own limited series 2 times and a 3rd is on the way. It also has appeared in a local newspaper weekly since 2003. Steven is also one of the pioneers of computer assisted comic coloring, the first use being in the 1987-88 English translation of Akira published by Marvel. He and his studio did coloring on a LARGE (

Looking at how bright those pages were, I thought you were showing us a modern book. Great pick up on both copies!

In the late 70's and early 80's Howard the Duck and Marvel Premier 38 Weird World were the big specs. Anything with Howard the Duck was getting top dollar.

Congrats on that pickup! Awesome colors and page brightness. I love the early Seinkevitch stuff as well, before it got too impressionistic.

Very nice!! Recent grail acquisition of my own: was able to put hands on a lower mid-grade (around 4.0 or 4.5) copy of Superman 61; from 1949, it's the first appearance of Kryptonite. For a GA book that is such a key part to the whole Superman mythos, it's a surprisingly affordable book (relative to other Superman keys).

Love Bill S’s art. One of my “forever books” is a copy of Elektra Assassin #1 that he remarked for me. Absolutely gorgeous copy of Hulk 13 in CGC 9.8. Congrats Bry!
