I built an "AFFORDABLE" shoulder rig for your camera (Smallrig)
Ғылым және технология
Shoulder rigs are my favorite way to film, which is probably do to my Parks and Rec addiction. I wanted to create my own shoulder rig that can handle a variety of cameras and doesn't break the bank, and maybe it'll help you too!

Thanks for the video Zach! My buddy and I are starting a production company and I've been trying to build out a shoulder rig for my GH5, this vid is perfect! Been subbed for a couple years now, I'm always excited when you post!

That's sweet dude, best of luck on your creative journey!
Great video. Thanks dude. Enjoyed the lightheartedness! Thanks for keeping it fun. I've got a lot of the same random thingamajig parts lying around. I love modular setups.
Nice Rig Build Bro! Great Cam,Lens,Monitor Combo!
First time watching one of your videos. Immediately subscribed. Amazing everything. 👏
Hi Zach.. nice informative video.. BTW how's the image quality using the H&Y filter.. Is it quite similar to polar pro or less good..
weird question but, saw some people online say the shoulder pad is kinda noisy if you have an on-camera mic, did you find that to be the case?
I did manage to get home safe thankyou so much for ur concern zachy

Great humour & energy
Thanks man I was kinda deep in the tabs trying figure thisnout
looking for a shoulder rig build for my fx3. this looks front heavy, think you need some battery mount on back to even out the weight
How do you press record if there’s no record button on the handle grips?

takes too long. i think tilta makes a wireless record button on a grip. im looking into that. @@Studiotek
Lol the shoulder workout bit was hilarious
This would work on a Sony a73 right?
The chest pad setup is quite a bit more versatile the the shoulder pad. I used to rock a shoulder rig but didn’t like being stuck with just one angle.

gotta hold all that weight with your arms thouhg, no?
@jlinc187

@@MisterAudio-lx2sv honestly it feels much lighter having it pressed against you than just holding it. I go through full day weddings with that without issue.

@@jlinc187 Thanks! But having a proper on-the-shoulder rig would make it more stable, right? especially if the rig is heavy
@jlinc187

@@MisterAudio-lx2sv stability is probably a push unless you're dealing with Sony IBIS. The shoulder rig is certainly a bit more comfortable on a whole day shoot I'm sure but it looks ridiculous and if you have to move around at all it's not nearly as convenient and versatile as a chest setup is. To each their own but my preference comes from a ton of hours with the chest pad setup.

@@jlinc187 you mean things like camera height level, tight spaces, things like that? shoulder rigs are limiting in the sense that you either crouch or kneel or stand, but cannot change the camera position on you otherwise
And how was UP able to do it so cheap? The DDA40X.
I like the Ibis from the Fuji since it has more stabilization. The shoulder rig is nice without ibis, but with ibis I imagine I would like the footage more. Using the shoulder rig without additional stabilization is a specific look that some clients may go for if they are wanting a more natural touch or distressed visual story telling device. Both are good. I am wondering if additional weight for the shoulder rig may stabilize more of the telephoto footage or if just shooting wider helps mitigate some of the sway that comes with shoulder rigs
Aww...yes thankfully all ok and safe bro. Hope the same for you too.
PURPLE CABLE BOY
That XT4 looks solid. The A7SIII does a good job, serve a different purpose on story telling. BTW I made it home.

Great video!! I totally got jacked shoulders. It's from all those circle pits!! ha \m/
Ayy Zack, just wanted to say I made it home safe 🙏
I'd like to thank Fuji, the real MVP of this video
I laugh so hard when you said that Sigma 18-35mm burnt into your brain. Must be really happy to finally move on to full frame after a long time. It's like a dream come true. My A7Siii really is such a workhorse
