I Built a VR Game In 24 Hours With ZERO Experience

Is it possible for someone who's never made a game before to learn Unity and build a VR game in 24 Hours?

This is actually a big inspiration for me. I'm looking to become a game dev myself, and I'd like to do at least partially VR projects. I was afraid it was going to be a massive endeavor to get to that point, but you showed me that I can absolutely do it

For everybody who wants to learn how to gamedev I'm trying to be one. And let me tell you that the easiest game developing software for beginners is godot. There's many tutorials on how to master godot, once you mastered godot you should try and make a game and publish it for the public. Also try and master other game engines like unreal engine or unity.
I know it might sound like very little, but "It works" is actually a huge compliment in the digital world XD, theres alot of stuff that doesnt "Just works", even Todd Howard says "It just works"
I remember watching your vids at 3k subs lol. Look at where you have come. Good job lad, keep it up.

Dude. Great video. I started a devlog for my first 3d game as well using Unity. You seem to be very passionate. I would turn this into a full game and release it. You never know where it will take you. I’d say go for it.
Im currently making a horror game for vr! And your doing so much good stuff : )
Goodness gracious that was fun to watch!
Prefab in unity means like a game object that can be used multiple time. We don't use normal game objects because they are not optimised enough. So, prefabs are just a game object to use multiple times
@Kooczsi
3 ай бұрын
bad explanation. what he said was more accurate than your explanation. you can think of a prefab like a zip file, and a normal gameObject as a folder zip file (prefab) is more optimized, folder (gameObject) is more easily changable

Great video man
Bro I swear, I thought that was a different person when you took off your hat and glasses. Super Man Clark Kent type stuff 😆
I've already commented on several things, and you probably already know this, but a prefab is when you convert a gameobject from the scene to a reusable asset with all its properties and hierarchy. You can import these or make them by right-clicking in the hierarchy or by dragging a gameobject into the asset browser.
I been in a rut not being able to get a job so with my free time i been thinking of doing game dev specifically vr and well... this definitely showed me its possible w/o much effort into coding. Thanks man

thanks this gave me hope to make vr game because i want to be a vr dev and i am starting now
I made a game in less than 1 hour, with 0 experience, without knowing how to read, write, or program, and without ever having touched a computer in my life. By being drunk. And all this, on a laptop, and having to run, because there was a bear running after me, while I was creating the game.
I think I had the exact same unbelievably excited words in my mind when I opened that opening vr scene in Unity feeling your already made a game! 🙂🤩
Nice job! You are really good at rapid prototyping, tremendous feat at building a functional game in 24hrs. To start over and focus on the code and the gameplay instead of the environment was a great move, I wanted to ask what made you come to that conclusion? Also would you consider doing game jams now?
Awesome video man! Were you able to actually test this inside Unity (in play mode) or you had to send file to VR Headset every time when you wanted to test it out?
I would love to see this become a full game and be released
missed opportunity to use the original Tuscany demo environment for the DK1 / early VR days! Spending 3hrs debugging why the VR headset isn't work is very much on brand for making VR games lol
Great video bro! My wacky idea cuz I'm bored: I think that you should do another 24h, and you should turn to the goals into portal of the cube colours. Maybe have like 3 portals, so you are required to turn around more. You should also add bombs that occasionally spawn instead of cubes, you have to catch them and diffuse them before they explode and reset your score. If you accidentally throw it in a portal, the portal breaks for 7.5s, meaning you may have to hold many cubes at once and it becomes tricky. With a new cube spawning every 2.5s! 🎉😊

You should make levels in the game and it progressively gets harder
I dare you to make a skibidi toilet vr game. It would be so cool being a soldier in the heat of battle getting cool upgrades over time. The reason why I chose skibidi toilet is because of how it won't make you feel like you are an actual soldier and you can relax. Another reason is that there is a ton to expand on
WoW, good job, i only know hot to do 2d games, not even 3d, i can't think about vr. Big fan from Spain
The editing choice at 1:30 was the right one. Definitely the best possible option.

My best tip for the one who is about to make games is first work with the game mechanics then environment.
Tip: on my laptop that's not powerful enough to run VR I have to build ever time I want to test. Rather than have my quest 2 plugged in all through the build (can take

This is so cool to see a point of view with Zero Experience but you did super well ! If you want to learn more about VR Development my channel is dedicated to teach everything you need to know !
Could you please set up a game page for this game? You got the map ligaly, it looks sooo relaxing, I would have a wonderful time playing this with my family. You should make it 'name your own price', its a cool way of helping the community (because they can put 0) and getting some money on the way,
It most certainly works.
Zachary. I recommend changing your headset’s Head-strap
I am truly fascinated by talents that take on challenges bordering on the impossible, and it makes me smile when I perceive that healthy enthusiasm in seeing people admire the work done even if they are just starting out. One thing I would like to clarify, though, is that while it's true that it's possible to put some assets into a game engine and create a minimum level of interaction with motion controllers, the result is far from what could be a true VR video game. I don't want to belittle the efforts and inspiration that this type of content can provide, but it would certainly be better to also explain that to create a complete game, years of work, significant financial investment, and the talent of many people are necessary. Giving the idea that it's feasible to create a video game in 24 hours would seem like saying that those who work in this industry are frauds, that it's not true that years of work and many resources are needed to bring a project to fruition... as if all it takes is 24 hours and a notebook... It's not the first video where titles claim "I create a VR game in 1 hour, 10 hours, or 24 hours"... it's a nice example of style to say that nowadays tools are available to everyone, but it's certainly not true that a map with some randomly placed assets constitutes a game. Forgive my frankness, and in any case, I embrace you and look forward to a new video with something more concrete, perhaps not in 24 hours ;)
would love for a step by step tutorial :)
They should make VR sims haha that would be fire 🔥
Please release it!
