Spektrik of course there's nothing wrong with these machines, I would love to have them myself, I just can't afford them at the moment. And I don't hate. Discouraged means to lose enthusiasm, not to hate. As sirboi mentioned, it's the artwork itself that makes it more interesting. The more closely related to your skills it is, the more "handmade" it is to me, since homemade does not always equal handmade. Sure, it's still your creation by using these type of machines but they are then used with your computer skills together with a company's product (homemade) rather than your hand skills with hammer, saw, knives, solder iron (handmade).

I'm not really one for commenting on videos but occasionally, I can't help myself, and i have to sign in and give credit where credit is due - this deserves an award. I love the fact that you'd never guess this was a computer. (and yes to other comments; it DOES look like a coffee machine or some-such) but I think more computers should be made like this out of the box. I think they should be selling designer art pieces that also happen to be a computer. I'd love to have the time to do this myself but it seems time is the most expensive part of a project like this. And I really love the added texture of a rope - I know many would prefer a neon LED - But I'm with you here; I like the rustic nature precisely because it is NOT scream out tech. And yes, my first concern also was dust - but you're right - just keep it clean! I just wanted to say - keep up the good work. Your videos are inspiring - even if I don't have time to follow through :-) Thanks for all your (albeit enjoyable) hard work, not just making it but making a video of how you made it. And congrats on your KZread award - much deserved.

The planning and collecting of the hardware is the most time intensive part. No fun to design this stuff. I hate designing. If it wasn't for the dust I would not have a case at all. And kids fingering everything and I mean everything. Have you ever been fingered by the baby you're breast-feeding? You better believe it I have documented it all to torture her when she gets older. Can't wait :) Of course she needed to taste what she fingered. She came out of it so whatever. I meant her fingers you creep!

It won't be long before those Gigantic Heat Sinks begin to attract every molecule of dust in that room. I have a kitty cat and sometimes leave my case open - its amazing how quickly the heat sinks get covered with a blanket of kitty cat "cotton candy" fur. That's a lot of machinery and engineering - to build a dirt magnet.

Okay, this thing is AMAZING! The custom heatsink for the GPU is so nice. I'm a tad bit surprised you didn't use liquid metal for the copper joining, but whatever. :-) The blacktack idea was really smart. It's no wonder the thing is so quiet. I'm surprised you didn't get one of those giant fanless coolers, but again, doesn't really matter. Actually, I don't think it would look as nice as the Noctua heatsinks. The SD card reader is a very useful but under-appreciated adapter that I am very glad you added. :-) This is one of the most expensive builds you have done, so this project I won't be replicating, but it's great to watch you make it. You certainly know how to film things in a way that it's always interesting. Great job man! And congrats on over a million subs. One thing I'd LOVE to see from you is make a Hackintosh, but a very unique one. I'm certain you could do it and make it look better than any mac made. :D

For a DIY PC, he should go with a fairly DIY operating system setup and use something open-source. A Linux system on bare metal running virtualized instances of Apple OS X, Windows 7 and Windows 10? Why, that would be the ultimate setup right there.

I found out recently about unraid Hackintoshes. Apparently they work really well. That would be something. Linux, macOS, and Windows all running at once. I don't think 2 different versions of Windows is necessary, but if one were to run 2 different versions, I'd run XP as the older one, just because. :P

Cost to make manufacturer is probably $USD 20000 to $30000 to set-up and engineering design tooling and to create the assembly line and assuming a 15% profit margin(Boutique level, think hand-built Lamborghini Venano) your looking at $7500 to $8000 retail. Figure that's about 1% of the gaming market and.0001% of the total PC market (262.5 million units 2017 www.statista.com/statistics/273495/global-shipments-of-personal-computers-since-2006/) total unit demand would be about 26200 units. More calculation and details(Nailing down the set-up and assembly line costs for example as well as production labour costs) would be required for a break-even analysis to determine whether it makes sense to build it as a retail product.

pra izz Because it is relatively challenging. If you remember when linus attempted to make a mechanical keyboard, if you've seen that, he just got a bunch of pre assembled pieces that just lock together no soldering required which jacked up the price and skewed his perception on what you can do and what it would cost
