One of the biggest reasons I don’t watch episodic content is because I feel like I have to watch it all in order or not at all. It feels like I’ll miss things that are building on previous episodes or I’ll get spoiled for older episodes if I just jump in. Especially with creators I haven’t watched before, it feels like a big commitment so I just never start. (I did just get diagnosed with ADHD tho, so it might be that, haha) Edit: something like this is easier to jump in on though, since it is focused around a single short term goal not building on previous episodes as much

Oh I feel this!!! Like, the struggles to commit to start a new show or series, no matter if it's KZread or some streaming service XD But since I am currently so hyperfocused on Minecraft, I inhale content and followed a bunch of creators and spend hours on end watching through their playlists XD

I've always been more of a fan of episodic myself, because i like longform storytelling in general, so it makes sense to be the case, but also it's just sort of what i'm used to when it comes to mcyt content, given i started out with it back in 2012 with the stuff that was going on then; very different youtube landscape! shame to hear it's hard to keep audiences sticking around, but I suppose it's not a surprise. First episodes of TV shows always have the highest ratings, after all, and then trail off towards the tail end of the series. Not sure what can be done about it, but it does give food for thought.

Totally agreed! I watch Legundo because its Legundo, not because of the Content he makes because for everything fits, hte creativity of the builds, the comment-style, the Jokes and Puns :D I tried a few of the other Guys Legs ocassionally games with but almost none of them has fitted each of those Categories to my satisfaction^^ So give me the good Stuff, and all Stuff is good Stuff, so just *more* will be nice doesnt matter what type of Stuff :D

I love episodic stuff because i always throw on youtube in the background when i either make music or play games and i tune in and out but because the videos are long and there’s more of the same story i can still follow alot of it and care for the story but also zone out whenever and not have to rewatch half of it Also it helps to not have to click on a new video every 10 minutes or find another video if som random persons video starts and they have a distracting voice or whatever

I like episodic content because I don't feel like I have to dedicate a significant amount of time to watch it. It's usually 20-30 minutes at most and that makes it something that I can watch while eating breakfast or when I have a little time to kill before I do something. It also means that I can expect to see something more frequently.

Personally I love episodic hardcore series since it gives me more content to browse and feels more like a series of short, manageable stories rather than a 2-3 hr "movie." I like to chill on lunch and study breaks with YT videos. An hour and a half hardcore video is kind of a long lunch break, whereas a 17 minute episode is awesome since I can finish it in time. I'm also way more attracted to the shenanigans of "IN THIS EPISODE..." instead of having to filter through hours of footage to find those comedic/adventurous nuggets. Name suggestion for the little brown panda: "Koda," since he was the little guy from Brother Bear ;) Love your stuff Legs. The world of content creation is a hardcore adventure in itself and I applaud your tenacity for sticking with it. Keep up the good work man

I like episodic because it's "bite sized" and easier to fit into my life. It's easier to find time to watch a 15-20 minute video after work than a 3 hour video without pausing it and picking it up at a later date.

I love your long form because when it’s time me to veg i don’t have to worry about changing a channel because I know what I’m investing my time in. If episodes are in a playlist, I’ll do a binge watch session. I don’t invest in episodes as they happen unless it’s something that’s part of an interesting premise. I did that for deceit. Edit: I also enjoyed Dominion as it came out as well but I understand that projects involving other people have additional issues.

I love episodic content generally. But I find that there’s been a general move away from providing narrative from episodic creators. Because those that do episodic content rn are doing the big Minecraft trends like building a zoo for ever mob in Minecraft or whatever. But Fwhip, MythicalSausage, Brock do episodic content that still provides a narrative to follow and therefore makes me invested. It doesn’t have to be big LORE. Sometimes it’s just bringing us into your head about the grand plan for the world. Or in Brock’s case, you introduce us to a psychotic cat named Dennis so that you can ditch your fantasy underground tree and go build a cyberpunk base.

i miss episodic content SO BADLY actually. getting to watch a build/story/etc unfold over real-time months is incredibly cool to me -- whether that's something like a death game where the alliances convolute and become more tenuous over time, or getting to see what mods someone progresses and what someone adds to a build in any given episode of a longform modded playthrough, or just getting to see somewhat more bite-sized hijinks in a series of videos... i honestly kinda prefer it to the current longform standard, actually? don't get me wrong, i love 2h+ videos of these massive, spanning stories too, but those are an Event, something i set aside time for -- whereas a 30min-1h episode is a nice little breaktime watch to recuperate from whatever i'm doing. in general i think episodic formats tend to have just instinctively better pacing, because it's not "i have to do abcxyz all in this one video because this is my only video on this", it's "today i did x and some setup for b, next episode i'm thinking i complete b and maybe do e while i gather materials for z." it just feels more sustainable somehow, i guess? i know Episode Falloff is a real thing, but at the same time i have to assume there are people who just see 2h timestamps and don't watch videos at all. also i think there's something really special about episodic mcyt videos when it comes to characterization of in-universe guys specifically. a recurring villager character in an otherwise longform video series is a fun easter egg/continuity gag; a recurring villager character in an episodic series is an Event. maybe that's just me, though? i will say that from a practical standpoint episodes let you hit people with left hook after left hook of Cliffhanger and Twist (albeit maybe subtly) so there's also that.

Given how messed up the search has become on KZread, let alone homepage recommendations, I’m not sure the analytics KZread provides are still deterministic of what content is wanted or denotes how well something will do! I was binging hour+ videos for months, but just started binge playing Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield so for the last month I have been watching mostly shorter stuff. I’ll keep shifting as my time changes. Honestly my favorite videos are episodic, or marathons of episodes. KZread has eclipsed any tv or other streaming service in the hours I spend consuming media. Especially since the writers strike is happening, more power to the independent creators like yourself!

I don't really like seeing an OP player making simple stuff for new episodes just because it is too easy and slightly boring to watch. Watching a player with no armour making a farm; very fun! Watching a player with an elytra and netherite gear making a farm; kinda boring

I prefer episodes much more then hundred days stuff. If u bare with me I'll explain myself, ahem. The hundred days style of video was fun for like, the first year, but now I'm tired of watching the same thing over and over again. The different modpacks and stuff are interesting but I feel like I'm not really getting a feel for how they actually play, since it's all narrated over with music and effects and swooping time lapsey shots. Watching people actually play modpacks and maps is much more entertaining for me because it's slower and I actually feel like I'm experiencing the game, not just watching from the outside. And honestly I think the lore and story you're trying to build in this world and in your multi verse stuff would be much more effective if we didn't have to wait months for the next installment/clue/lore drop. I'm very nostalgic for things like diversity 3 and terrafirmapunk and even just normal Minecraft videos, and they're not really around anymore. Shorter videos are also usually more likely to have captions that aren't automatic. The automatic captions are ok but they don't come up in sentences, just one word at a time, which makes it hard (for me at least) to read them and creators are usually more willing to manually caption shorter videos as opposed to movie length ones. That's kinda beside the point, but, I digress Another thing that the hundred days takes away is real time commentary. It's all scripted nowadays and I just don't like it. I'm no longer seeing how a person reacts to things and I'm not getting stories and anecdotes about their life, like, "this reminds me of that one time..." yk? It's much less personal now. The disconnect between creator and watcher is much more apparent with hundred days type videos and I wish the algorithm would let it die. That's of course my opinion and if you prefer making the long videos I will continue to watch them and leave my silly timestamps and thoughts and theories in your comments but I really miss the old days.

I prefer episodic stuff, mostly because it condenses down what I'm watching. No offense to streams, but for me personally they move too slowly. You can watch someone struggle for an hour just to make a redstone farm. Plus it makes it easier to know what's going on without missing anything. I kind of get bothered by how these videos are structured actually, you're doing it topic by topic, yet still putting a big #1 on them until later in the series. It makes me think I've missed something completely when you refer back or show me something I have no idea what it is because I don't watch the streams and don't really intend too. By the basis of going topic by topic, it's not even episodic anymore tbh. You're making an episode that is a part of a series, but if you're just watching via KZread, you're only getting half of the correct story. So it's more of a: "I did this thing in Minecraft. Ignore everything else going on in the background, this stuff here is the video." Instead of the normal episodic which /shows/ us your journey in it's entirety. I'm seeing like half of a journey. So in this sense your streams are episodic, but your videos are not. I do like your videos btw, but this is honesty at it's truest point.
