I wish mermaids got a refresh, absolutely. But I just bought Island Living for them and I have no regrets. The world alone is worth it, and I love my storylines with them.

If you play with mods there’s one called Expanded Mermaids that’s really good and enhances the gameplay

Mermaids actually get upset when you have mounted fish on the wall. I accidentally married a mermaid and she kept crying when she'd see them until I took them down. LOL

I hope the summer roadmap will get "a huge watery update" for this pack 😭 I imagine more people would buy island living if mermaids were real, not only mermaids by name

People buy the pack regardless because they like the world and items, why would they rework it when it already sells so well. As long as people are buying it EA has no incentive to put anymore effort into it

What do you mean with "not only mermaids by name"? They get Tails and have some unique Powers. How would it be different if they where "real"?

I think the mermaids just need that skill tree - not even just for the skills but to be able to tell more concretely different stories like with the vampires. With the vampires you can be like, a vampire leader making a bunch of other vampires, or you can be a vegetarian vampire, or a daywalking vampire etc. etc. If we could have a few, even minor differences between one mermaid to the next that would make them more interesting. Like, they should have leaned into the siren/mermaid thing by making those interactions where you can lure sims into the water part of a skill tree. Have it so that theres skills for mermaids that make it so they can attract dolphins and fish to them, or make it so they can give sims temporary underwater breathing and then others where they can lure sims into drowning or can make boats crash. It would require integration with seasons, but wouldn't it be cool if a siren could call up a storm while a mermaid could make it sunny?

Exactly. I remember a household of mine specifically where the one of the siblings was a human loving vegetarian meanwhile the other was obssesed with gaining as many power as possible in order to surpass vlad

Oh my God, you could tell that Kayla doesn't play with mermaids often, because she put a dead fish in the build and considered it "mermaid-y" ☠️

I play with mermaids only. I like that they are more similar to humans and don't have tier lists. The only thing I feel is lacking from Island Living is underwater world. I would like to be able to explore underwater and find collectibles. But I understand why would that be complicated to create.

I do the same. I like that mermaids don’t have too much struggle with gameplay. Just make sure they get some water and you’re good. An underwater Atlantis would’ve been so awesome

I just think there needs to be more difference from mermaid to mermaid. Like, maybe one mermaid is more of a predator and can catch fish with their hands underwater and loves to eat fish, while another is more of a friend to fish and can befriend the dolphins etc. It just seems like it would make it more fun to play with them more often, because otherwise playing as a mermaid is pretty much the same every time except for whatever you decide to do yourself, you know?

I totally vote PlantSim. They're so ridiculous and amazing and deserve a totally decked out eco lifestyle shipping container gone GREEN house! You could even base it off the house in the Eco Lifestyle world!

I built a tiny house for one of my vampires and hers is a little Gothic caravan that looks like an old horse drawn coach. It's actually really dope

Not really. They did it to shut people up basically I'm almost positive. They repeatedly told people round walls would not work in the system and people kept complaining and whining about NEEDING them, so they caved and added them even though they don't really work within the Sims 4's build system.

EA should be able to have enough conviction to not release a feature that can’t function regardless of what people are asking for. Maybe they wouldn’t have done it if people weren’t asking, but that doesn’t change that they clearly only did it… to say that they did it. 😅

I know you've only made two occult tiny houses but I'm reallt enjoying this series!! And vampire tiny house sounds really fun

two story tiny home need one thing: ladders. i downloaded kayla’s werewolf tiny house and immediately swapped the stairs for a ladder, then i could add a dining table

Island living is actually one of my favourite packs. I live in a country with long cold winters. Like right now it's 5 PM and it's already dark, the temperature outside is freezing and there are crows everywhere in town. Playing in a sunny tropical ocean world is my escape.

The front of this house is GORGEOUS I can’t get over how cool it looks

Also you should def do a plant sim tiny house build! I'm also upset that they didn't give mermaids superpowers like in the H2O show!

Woah! That layout is so impresive! Like this home both looks like a mini castle, has TWO circles AND is cleanly and logically layed out.

I love to play with the mermaids, it's a shame they didn't get proper ocult stuff like vampires and werwolf. But they are able not just to swimm, they can switch the wether and changing the mood of other sims by singimg them a song. Oh and this fish on the wall will most probably make your mermaid sad (dead ocean friend) xD

Not only do mermaids not have a skill tree, they also have the hindrance of constantly needing hydration. They definitely need a refresh adding skills like a siren's song where they can attract people or something

I think that turned out cute! I admit I've never played with a mermaid but they do have a few powers that are cool - I love the weather control. I find it funny given the "fish" debate that one of their powers is aquatic lure, and WHY don't they snorkel?? Don't really care which one you do next but alien will be the hardest next to this. The other will be easy comparatively I think; even plant sim, there's so much plant based stuff in the game.

I might be wrong, but I think the wallpaper you used on the outside is actually based on rammed earth, so yeah, it should remind you of sand! It's a super cool construction technique that's literally just... laying dirt. And then smashing it real hard!

mermaids get sad in game when they see the mounted fish!!!

My mermaid got a negative moodlet when she saw a fish mounted on the wall, so the choice of decor here might upset them a little 😂

A fish on a wall is not a good choice for a mermaid because they get sad when they see it🤭

This buid was THE HOUSE to use the Shell Chair, I really thought it would be used everywhere

Round walls are still so broken even the windows that are supposed to work with them don't work great. I made a pretty build with round walls but ended up having to use basket to block off one side of some of the beds so sims wouldn't get stuck. And although i covered most of the weird windows I still have a few bits that look wrong

I’m so excited for this build!

Fun fact: Maremaids also have some weather control powers, but i am pretty sure they only work if you have seasons. Half of their abilities are locked behind a whole other expantion pack

I don't think I've ever seen anyone do a plant sim house. (Not counting "plant sim" as in this sim really loves plants. lol) I think that would be interesting.

I like the house, it's cute. I haven't had a mermaid Sim in a long time. I think I might have one again. You made the round walls work. EA should have tested those more before releasing them and made like more windows and stuff work with them, along with things like curtains. Travel town sounds fun. I started playing Hayday when you suggested it and I'm hooked. I'm on level 39 now, close to 40. I play it constantly. lol

Tbh I was so sceptical when you decided to go with disney castle inspo, like 'waaaaat in Sulani? This matches exactly nothing'. BUT you managed to pull it out so goooood, I think that's one of my favourite tiny houses of yours.😍

this is persnally why i LIKE gamepacks focused on occults. the entire pack is for that occult type rather then a broad subject the occult is part of, so they get a lot more skills and perks and stuff that expansion pack occults don't get. the team has to focus on a much broader theme with expansions so i find some aspects are often lacking in comparison to gamepacks centered around a smaller theme

I mean sure the mermaids have a lot less than the others, but the pack isn't "Mermaids" like its "werewolves" and "Vampires" its "Island living". It's one feature alongside beaches and building on water and swimming in the ocean, just like aliens are a small part of a pack that does way more.

You should do a rags to riches with mermaids. Stanley can be a mer-weenie and make money by diving for treasure and taking underwater pictures in Sulani. His tail should be red and yellow for ketchup and mustard. Mermaids can sleep floating on water, so he wouldn't need a bed! Also, pee in the ocean and shower under the waterfall. I'd watch it!
