@@Iristoddlewis Yes and no. I use to visit the Yukon quite a bit when I lived in Alaska. I was always struck by how so super nice people were and how it's ingrained even things like the traffic rules. For instance if I went to cross the road... instead of waiting for the traffic to clear... the cars stopped for me! That was very odd... but nice. I also found many of the bars to be very UK pub-like in atmosphere. In other ways like shopping, vehicles, and architecture & entertainment it was more like the US. The Mounties are quite unique. They can be very British-like and serious when dealing with a legal issue... but also irreverent and funny (not British-like) at other times. One of them helped play a funny joke on me... It's a long story but to make it short it ended with him saying (I swear he had what sounded like a Scittish brogue)... "So last I hear you like to drop the pants on the Mounties" (while lifting the front of his Serge as if he was going to undo his trousets). Mind you this was in the middle of a formal meal at an international conference with about 500 people and a spotlight on me! I was redder than his uniform!😄😂🤣 Yes a Mounties pants had fallen down a couple of days earlier during a photo-op... but I swear I had nothing to do with it! I was just standing there.... and he was actually a giant Mountie Mannequin.😄 For the rest of the conference it was... "That's the girl that pantsed the Mountie!" ... even the elevator.🙄

I feel like a lot of people are unfairly comparing dream home decorator to this pack, because dream home decorator was ALL about the furniture. If dream home decorator DIDN’T have all that furniture it would have been really bad. The idea of the English countryside is more or less correct, bear in mind that the U.K. as a whole varies. The Welsh countryside mostly has slate roofs instead of thatch since the material was readily available. Most farmhouses are usually only ever one-storey unless the farm owner has a lot of money since from what I have been told building a second storey is expensive. Please note do not assume that this pack is all that there is to British (or even English) architecture because you will be sadly mistaken.

Thatched roofs are common to the west country plus the Cotswolds, but lots of slate roofs further north. Americans tend to have firm ideas of what is essentially British or English, but are often wrong! Heck, they think we live in igloos in Canada! Anyway, I see much that can be considered traditionally English in the pack. True that cottages are generally one storey with few bump-outs, but terraced homes are usually two-storey, not found in country settings as a rule. Cottage gardens are common in country areas, less so in towns. Lots of hanging planters and window boxes since Britain in Bloom was popular. Follow Harrie for sure -she is current!

I’m also from the UK and the generalisation of our architecture makes me smile. Almost every county has a different architectural type. From sandstone, to ironstone, red brick new builds. The list goes on. We don’t all live in thatched cottages or castles 😂
Being this early to Deli is a treat... or one could say, a Delicacy.. 😅
As far as I know ensuites are not common in most of Europe, I live in the Netherlands and only big, new houses have ensuites. I am happy you choose to build the master bedroom upstairs. A lot of American Sims builders put the master bedroom downstairs which is something I don't remember ever seeing in Europe. Most older Houses in Europe only have one full bathroom upstairs and a small half bath with a toilet (and if your lucky a sink) downstairs.

I'm from the Netherlands as well, and I've never seen an on-suite. I learned about them existing through the sims 4 builds I watch here on KZread 🤣
This is super cute and the landscaping is 😍😍😍 As someone that lives in Dorset (Countryside in the South of England), it kinda reminds me more of a French style in a weird way? The actual shape of the house is pretty spot on though, but if you look at the cottages round here, they are all built from local stone and very few of them have thatched roofs as it's a bit of a nightmare to maintain. That technique you were talking about is a really old technique referred to as "Wattle and Daub". Think it may have originated in the Celtic era. PS. Our bins actually do look like that! We have Black, Blue and Green (rubbish, recycling, garden)
Hey Deli, I'd suggest a snake plant. Hardy little lads; my depression got pretty bad around Jan last year and I'm packing to move apartments now....realized he has been beside my bed surrounded by junk for all those months, but he's still perfectly fine 😅
This build is actually stunning
What a cute build! So Wayback in the 1970s, before there were home-improvement stores, department stores used to have home-improvement sections. And in those days you could actually order decorative items for your rooms that matched your wallpaper and rugs. Isn’t that cool? My grandparents house used to have a lot of that going on! Thanks for all you do Deli 💜💜
The word for the pattern you were looking for is herringbone. They have a brick red stone floor in that pattern, in base game I think. I've been dying for one in a wood, similar to the parquet floor.

I'm from the UK and I've only ever been inside literally one house that had an en suite and it was a big rich custom build in the poshest area of my town. Most people here just have one bathroom. Some have a toilet downstairs (we don't) and some have the entire bathroom downstairs with nothing upstairs.
I live in the UK (in the countryside even!) and I live in a 3 bed house that only has 1 bathroom - downstairs next to the kitchen! It was the same in the house I spent my teen years too, and the house i spent my childhood before my parents renovated into the loft. it's rather uncommon to have ensuites here unless you renovate (which my mum plans to do at some point)

I know our heritage builds are the old cottages but we aren’t all stuck up high English tea people as most houses now are modern so we shouldn’t still be stuck with that label
I 100% agree that boredom is underrated. Boredom is humanities great driver! What do I do when I'm bored? I read, I sew, I cross stitch (so excited for my sims to, ahah!), I knit (you know I have nifty knitting gurl), I crochet, I bake, I learn new things.... Sometimes I hop on KZread and I learn about how other people live, or watch sims building which makes me think about design and spatial awareness and looking at things form the bigger picture. Gorgeous build, Deli! It may be simple but it inspires a person to... romanticize the simple things in life. One of the biggest thing that helped me to really love my life is to romanticize the little moments. Read on a chair with your dog in your lap, drink a hot chocolate when it's snowing with your house coat and slippers on... it's simple stuff but if you imagine it like a movie or a book character it seems so cozy and lovely. I think my favorite single object from the pack (aside from the animals and the cross stitch box) is the china cabinet. It reminds me of the China cabinet in my moms house or my grandmothers house.

William Morris patterns are hugely popular in the UK. They do everything in the same patterns, so your wallpaper could match your notebook!
The daily Deli and James content is amazing. 🤍
I have lived in over twenty different houses in the UK - mostly in the countryside. We use wheelie bins and food caddies, depending on the local council. There were only en-suites in maybe three of the places I lived. In one of them it was the only bathroom. Our houses are very compact and normally we have long, narrow hallways and long, narrow gardens since we normally live in long rows.
I can’t wait for next week I’m definitely going download this house it’s perfect for my family
Wisteria is wonderful. It can get very large and unruly and spread quite a lot. The stems can often get really windy and creepy looking. If you use it use a lot cause it spreads and looks more awesome over time. The gnarly branches are my favorite
En suites are becoming a lot more popular in new build houses, but they're still very rare unless it's a conversion. We don't have an en suite in our house. Our bathroom has a bath, shower(in bath) and a sink and our toilet is separate downstairs next to the kitchen 😊 Our house was built just after the war in a teeny tiny village, as a place for families to live should their homes have been destroyed. We have no shop, no pubs, and 1 primary school with 3 classrooms and 50 kiddies learning! We're right in the middle of fields and cows, sheep, crops and winding roads!
Matching everything was quite common in the early eighties in the UK. Interior companies used to make whole collections of carpets, wallpaper, soft furnishings and fabrics so that everything coordinated. some even had dinner services to match

This is beautiful and cozy build. Love it!
This build is bloody GORGEOUS, I NEEEEED IT

Deli, that black bin is exactly what every British home has, regardless whether it a city or countyside building. 👍🙂 I actually made some pictures about typical houses here and will send it to You and Jaaames. Brick walls with white windows and doorways, a family home in city is normally semi detached and with a mudroom opening from the front door - about 1 square meter so I would do 4 tiles in the sims. Normally dark carpeted. Hydrangeas are typical British flowers too planted at the front and visteria running on the wall at the back garden. Also foundations are a big no no... Take care. 🙂
I love The Cottage Fairy too! Paola is amazing. Her videos are so inspiring creatively and just in terms of living a life that works for you, whatever that might be. She also lives in my state in the US and in one of the most beautiful parts of it. Highly recommend her channel!

Yeah most old country homes or farm cottages on estates have a shared bathroom upstairs. Also you don't always have a extra toilet indoors on the ground floor. They may have a WC... joined to the house, but access to it from the outside. If it's a old build. I don't think any of my friends or family homes growing up had any en suites. Even bigger homes in Wales. Love your take on British builds. 🐇
I'm so in love with this pack! I love the bunnies (glad that they cannot be pets!), the cows, the llamas, the foxes, chickens, everything! The clutter and all. I'm already excited for CC creators to create add-ons of the build objects like Peacemaker often does.
I can't wait to try it! Thanks for the content!
Some stores make tons of things in the same patterns. Laura Ashley comes to mind as a place that's likely to have matching wallpaper and fabric patterns!
Super cute, I can't wait for this pack. To answer some of your questions/ponderings: The wood pattern you described but couldn't remember the name of is herringbone (because the angled boards look like fish bones). I honestly don't know how prevalent it is in old cottages. Everyone has wheelie bins (what you placed) in the UK. Driving through the countryside you'll often see a collection of them at the side of the road where a cottage lane or track ends, as the resdients have put them on the main road for emptying by the local council. Different council areas have different sets of bins for recycling (where I live we have blue, green, brown and black wheelie bins for all the different recyclables). To replace the ink in a typewriter is not like liquid ink in a printer, it's a spool of ribbon. You can still buy replacements for most machines.
Ochides from the Ikea are easy to keep alive! I give them once in a while water. I fill up the whole pot with water and let them stand in it for a hour or longer. Afther that poor the rest of the water out and they have enough for a long time. Also when all the flowers are gone let the steel dry out and cut it of. I've got mine may 2020 and they are still alive! Got flowers for I think the 3rd time now! Plants didn't survive my care also before that.
Hey Deli, I love your build and it's making me really excited for the new pack! I don't even want to build anything anymore at the moment because I'm just impatiently waiting for the release and the new items. Regarding the "dying plant" issues that you have, most of the times plants die from overwatering rather than dehydration - I recommend to put reminders in your phone or get an app (there's so many) which will do it for you if you add the plant to your collection. Also plant stores like to fertilize plants or use chemicals to make them look the most pretty in the store for people to buy, and after being in the new home for a couple of days they just die off (specially orchids, they're also often put into the wrong soil and too tight containers, changing the pots once you bought them is a must for many plants). And you'd want to make sure to keep your plants close to the windows, every meter away from the light is a big loss in terms of UV light. I struggled so many years myself, but finally can call myself a proud plant mommy! You can do it too!
I love you Deli!!! Great work as always!!! I hope you're having a good day so far : )
Thank you for an honest and cute build.
You brighten my day, Deli!!!
Nice one, Deli! Good use of the subtle colours...hope you can upload when the pack releases.
I think my favourite indoor plant is my pothos (which is also a cheap plant) because it is so easy to keep alive, and it grows fast enough you can watch it for new growth every day. I also like keeping a creeping Jenny in a pot in the bathroom. She's a little dramatic, but I like that because it's like she yells at me to water her (a good reminder to water them all tbh).
Was that a Master of Disguise reference with the turtle!?! Never thought I’d hear that in 2021 😂
I'm British and have an en-suite. I live in a modern house though that is relevantly big. The style of house I live in is pretty much everywhere in the UK now. These smaller type cottages are futher out into the countryside and are very old type properties.
Wisteria is a beautiful climbing plant that attracts butterflies and bees, so great for your garden. And so damn pretty 😍
I love the cottage Fairy. they are very relaxing. and her art is amazing
I have 4 outdoor bins Brown for plastic and tin. Blue for paper and cardboard. Green for garden and compost waste, and Black for anything that doesn't fit in the other 3 categories our councils are well into recycling
You should get a ZZ plant! They are super easy to take care of and really cool looking! Same with a spider plant or a snake plant
Beautiful!! 💘
I could sit and listen to you talk for hours.... with this background music going.... so relaxing! =)
Herringbone pattern flooring is the word you were looking for ;)
Speaking of plants, of you have difficulty in keeping them alive, you should try a zz plant and a pothos, these are nearly impossible to kill
I love the look of British homes simple cute cozy homes.
We don't really have outdoor bins in the UK. We have our recycling bins that are different colours for cardboards, plastics, garden waste and food but we tend to just fill our indoor bin, then put the bin bag outside until collection day. 🤷♀️

I live in the country side and those bins look exactly thr same, it does depend on what county/borough you live in however they either look exactly the same or extremely similar. X

You mentioned orchids, they are actually really tolerant. I suck with taking care of plants and not watering enough. Orchids can "die" and let go of all their flowers but then grow back again with a lil water and sun :)
