The Starfarer was designed in an era when CIG's mindset on large ships is heavily based on that for making a FPS level. I hope they remake this ship soon.

Fyi this ship will be getting a full internal rework and some additional stuff. It's going to be a full refinery ship too as well as refueling. That outside catwalk will have spots for taking ore from mining ships to refine.

the misc starfarer us one of the ships that has VTOL working properly (Vertical Take-Off and Landing engines) -- default key "K" - to activate it. Its very useful when we are on places with strong gravity like area 18 so we don't need to use boost :)

The Starfarer grew on me lately. I use it sometimes just so fly somewhere on microtech an chill :)

All I could think of as you were talking about getting lost is that at least you can walk around your ship and not get beamed directly to your pilot chair!! I personally think its awesome.

That was fun, I enjoyed watching you explore the ship. I have flown it, but never explored the inside much.

I know it’s a tad annoying but the Starfarer is probably one of my favorite ships. In the early game it was my ship of choice for cargo and such, even when the cat came out I still flew the SF, it’s heavy as hell but that cargo bay, the doors and walkway always reminded me of the serenity. Plus the best captain chair in the game. I’d preferred the captains quarters to be a medical bay instead. But happy to get this back in game. Hopefully it gets a updated pass soon.

Doing 9T and ZT, we had to clear plenty of these ships :), that helped with learning the interior layout. You missed another ladder to the left if the ladder in the Jeffrey's tube which goes to the walkway.

You know, as much as I hate the SF interior, it was a pretty good set up to infiltrate for those missions, not sure a C2 would really feel the same

it was the first big ship. years later i still get lost in it. it needs a design pass.

Yeah it's huge but you get that cool blanket in the captain's quarters

I wish that SC had a landing assist hologram like ED. I rarely land level to the ground.

Actually those two doors either side of that hatch in the floor are also airlocks, and their outside doors open to the void, or atmosphere, basically they offer egress from the ship

The Starfarer should have a built in brewery and giant bear kegs for fuel tanks. Even a tavern in the main hold. I will be bartender of my own Beerfarer. I hope 3.17 does not bring a total wipe of all hard earned in game player assets

I feel you, I bought a Gemini few months ago and how confusing it was to visit it. Not to mention slugglishness 🤣 The interior will undergo a revamp, they said, so it's more a matter of time 🙂 Have you visited Reclaimer? It's a very confusing layout too 😂

I can deal with the layout but the complete lack of labeling to know how to get anywhere is ignorant!

Not a bad flying FPS level.

Slowly, piece by piece, SC is building out the immersive systems, top to bottom. I wish it took less time, but one day we will be able to do so many operational tasks it will be insane. Big things take big time. Who knew it was going to be 10+ years? (Probably CR and co. , but he didn't want to scare anyone away.)

So basically the Starfarer is a Multi-Crew ship, to get the best out of it. I wonder if you can have an NPC crew if your solo?

I would play this game if it was possible to stream it through something like Geforce Now or XCloud. No way I can afford the rig to play this.

Misunderstood, it can carry both. 6 tanks total, each can be set to hold either type of fuel.

took me 15 minutes just to find the cockpit on a Caterpillar.. no way would I even attempt the rat maze of a Starfarer They have to change the cockpit view its so awful to fly. Too many ships have terrible front cockpit views, metal beams across it etc.

I bought the Endeavor and the Starfarer is the loaner ship.... This ship is horrible all around. Difficult to fly, difficult to navigate, poor lighting, etc. Definitely needs a redesign. I haven't flown very many large ships. But I've been flying the C2 Hercules regularly. The Starfarer is not the ship for me.

I really hate how sci-fi ship designers always seem to make the captain's quarters massive apartments but then shoves the entire rest of the crew into one room where their bunks are all open. Seriously, give the crew SOME privacy. I would greatly prefer my old coffin rack than what sci-fi crews are given.

This is how it is in real life. Officers in ships get nice big rooms with privacy. Lower-ranking seamen get to live in the racks with dozens of other NCOs. It isn't exclusive to sci-fi designers.

@@phoenixcraft9940 I did spend a year of my life on a ship in real life (USS Shoup). The officer's and chief's quarters where very small (I think it was 2 per room). The berthing space was also very small but with coffin racks, we had a curtain for privacy and our personal locker was under mattress (opening like a coffin). In either case, the entire space was used and not just some beds thrown into the middle of a giant empty space.

@@Najolve That is a fair point. It's more of a design choice than a choice based on logic - the artists want the player to be able to move around and stuff like that instead of being in a bunch of cramped spaces inside of a ship.

After seeing this, the desire to have ship interiors in Elite is gone. Although, I never cared much for it.

Why? This is a ship with one of the most confusing layouts in the game as it's also one of the first ever added. Other ships are better designed, ship interiors are awesome. I don't get why elite players are so opposed to them.

Im sorry to say this but you getting almost lost inside the ship is one of the "reason" we dont have ship interiors in Elite Dangerous. (face palm)

The truth of it, is the games engine cannot handle it. Its why the ship and fps parts of elite feel like two different games tacked together. Because it is.

SC seems like a never ending Ponzi scheme. I'll look into the game if ever releases.
