Good Morning Chris and the wood yard. I had a kioti DK 4710 and I broke the right side frame holing the buck in and they told me that is a common thing for them and I had a ton of electric problems. Good luck trying to fix it totally. That is why now I have a John Deere 4046 and have never look back😮

I just wanna say Chris, keep doing what you are doing. So many channels I like are heading directions different from what got them to where they are. Sometimes sometimes the new direction is also fun. More often than not it seems to me they change for the worse. To each their own but I appreciate your consistency!

Big fan of the channel and u were the final KZreadr to convince me to add selling firewood to my tree business during the winter even though I live in Florida. I started splitting this season and will have a plentiful amount to start selling for next season and using next winter for the season after and so forth so thanks for all this great info ur giving people like me. On another note, my dad owned news stations, media companies and businesses like that while I was growing up and I had a camera in my face growing up. I was thinking maybe u could do voiceovers while doing things like driving ur tractor, spitting firewood and things of that nature to give us insight on what’s going on in ur head and other information we could learn and use that ur doing. Thanks for all ur time and effort u put into for us.

Chris, I enjoyed watching your process for snow removal. If you scrape snow on asphalt or concrete alot I highly recommend an upgrade for your bucket. You can get a replaceable cutting edge for your kioti from the dealer for a couple Benjamin's. It will save your bucket from getting worn down on the edge.

Just removed a bunch of snow with my Kioti as well. I'm in Maine in a pretty sloped area, so I recently put some chains on the rear tires, and wow....what a difference. Doesn't look like you need them there, but I was super impressed with how well I could move massive piles of snow. I also put some inexpensive edge tamers on the bucket to prevent digging up my gravel

Hey Chris, you might already know this trick but if you take a piece of schedule 40 gas pipe about 2 inches in diameter or maybe some galvanized pipe from a galvanized fence post kind of slid down the middle of it and put it over the edge of your bucket, and pin it on, or bolt it on or something like that it’ll keep you from scalp in the ground so much. Like I said, you might already know this trick but just a friendly tip that’s all. Have a good weekend my friend.

Hey Chris you have to get yourself a good skid steer with chains. All your attachments that you have would interchange with the skid steer. I considered a tractor before I bought my skid steer. Unless you need the PTO!!. The work your doing requires a much heavier machine in my opinion. I’ve been a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years and I always try and have the right equipment for the job. PS your one hell of a good worker and I like your advice of get out there and get er done. Good luck on the repair.

Snow could lead to more firewood sales which is a good thing. Machines and equipment always seem to break at the worst times. Had a good laugh yesterday at my job with a guy who is a die hard blue oval fan, he said my truck was a polished turd (bow tie is the brand of truck I have). My response left him speechless: I like driving my polished turd, it is a truck and gets me and my family around just fine. Some people will argue over the smallest things but I have learned well from Chris, take it in stride and get back to work! 👍🏻 Read the other responses, glade it was just a gasket and covered under warranty Chris. Good Night Irene.

As an industrial mechanic, when you drive something like you stole it. It will break. Slamming into those snow piles is hard on the hydraulic system. It's called shock loading. All that force is pushed back through the system. When driving and cranking the steering from lock to lock with 4 wheel drive on, that is hard on the front axel and universal joints. Driving with the wheels cranked all the way with the tires pushing sideways, which is a good way to knock a tire off the rim. If you keep driving that way, your mechanic is going to make a lot of money.

5 months ago, my DK4710 CAB unit had a hydraulic pump leak turned out to be a pump o-ring issue. Dealer replaced o-ring fixed issue until last week. Pump leaking again. 150-mile one-way trip back to the dealer today. The dealer ordered an entire new pump this time. I've owned orange in the past and had a few issues with that unit also. Bottom line, unfortunately crap happens. My tractor is 1 year old. However, i work this unit hard. Good luck, Chris. kioti is solid on their warranty. I have to say.

@InTheWoodyard there is a flap that joins the 2 brake peddles to make them work together. Flip that flap over and you can apply the left and right brakes separately to steer even if the front tires are off the ground. That was one of the features I liked about the DK series and help make my mind up to buy one. Hope that helps.

Id send the young guy under there. Look for a punched oil filter or hose leak. Cold weather and hydrostatic drives are a common problem, most manufacturers offer a alternative fluid for cold operations. Even your average box store wood splitter will recommend the use of automatic transmission fluid in temps under something like 25F Where they recommend hyd, ISO-32 or 46 above freezing. . Lastly if they do have to split the tractor transmission for repairs. If its worn, Consider replacing the clutch on the engine, the 3 cylinder engines are hard on the center splines of the clutch. The more time at 700rpms the more abuse they generally get. Thus why ive recommend over the years to treat 1,000rpms as idle speed. Or simply turn it off. . Hydrostatic or gear drive, theres still a clutch on the output of the engine on every tractor ive ever delt with. . Anyway thats my 0.01c from thousands of miles away.
