Hey, I recommend finding your favorite stick, and getting the lower version of it for practice. For example: I like the CCM Premier 1/2 so for practices I buy the CCM R1.5 that is $60 per stick, and lasts me a month to 2 months that only break on the blades, and not shafts surprisingly.

Got the same problem with sticks, and after a teammate broke a brand new 2s pro by slapshotting on the paddle at a warmup, I decided not to use them in practices anymore and keep them for games, now I use some regular foam cores that cost me 150$ each at practices and my bank account is thanking me

I haven’t used one or got my hands on one, but I heard that the unreleased Bauer Supreme 2S Lite was suppose to fix the durability of the 2S pro but keep the same weight as a 2S Pro. The ones selling I’ve seen are almost always used. Ones that are new have basic specs and I think they go for pretty much the same money as a 2S Pro.

Basic enginerding. Lighter weight= less disability. Companies are designing the sticks to be as light as possible because thats what customers want. Try using mid grade sticks and see if they hold up better. I pay $150-$200 for my sons sticks, varsity hockey, taking shots 5 nights per week. They last most if not a whole season.

Make's me wonder if a manufacturer has ever thought of trying a honey comb lattice type of composite stick. Even with no skin, kinda like those TOVI sticks. Greatly reduced air resistance, I just don't know about the weight. But, it'd have to be stronger than all the hollow crap, right? Just a thought! Great vid as usual Trav!

I bought a 2pack wood sticks on Sideline swap thanks to you (I didn't knew the site)... and pro-laces.... aaaand a blok... But seriously tho, I know wood sticks are a lot heavier than foam or composite sticks, but at least I think it's good practice for a first stick. The day I can afford a more expensive one, pokechecks are gonna rain from everywhere.

It’s all about the money! I think 300 plus for a stick is ridiculous, I remember paying 99 dollars for my Sherwood Hextall sticks back in the 90s. Those were tanks!

I use wooden sticks. Because i break mine over the bar. Often. But this latest one, the Ukrainian Fischer, it just wont break. It gets dented but I havent managed to break it in two yet. That one costed around 140 euros (which are app. the same as dollar today) , but usually I just go fo the 100-120 d/e range. I tried a 250 club, but all i had to do was look at it in a brutal way and it snapped.

When I played in high school I tried using lighter more expensive sticks. Eventually I had to make a decision to sacrifice performance and move towards a cheaper, heavier stick because I couldn’t afford to keep buying the lighter sticks. I wasn’t trying to go pro so it wasn’t as much of an issue sacrificing performance but it was a decision to use a heavier stick or not be able to afford to play.

I’m going to back like 9 years to when I last played serious hockey but the Reebok 5k sticks were the only goalie stick I used and never broke on me. Granted I rotated 3 of them around but I used them often and they were great and never once broke on me other than a few child in the paddle. The 9k composite Marty Brodeur color way which was sick looking was what I used my last season and that lasted me as well. The 5ks were under 200 and the 9k was 200 but worth it for sure . I would love to get game use out of the sticks they have now but looks like you’re getting hosed for even more money nowadays.

The only person you have to prove worth, value, or anything to is yourself. This is your life, your dream, and your journey; no one can take that away from you. Your hard work, success, frustration, dedication, sacrifice, setbacks, creativity, and sense of humor are all part of the process of finding your way to where you want to be, even if the destination isn’t always clear. In short: you don’t need the validation of a uSport coach to confirm value and legitimacy to your efforts; it’s not for him to give and this is not his journey… I’m excited to hear about the next stop on your journey, hopefully one that will be fulfilling and successful both on and off the ice for you. You’re a better player than you were a year ago (in my lay opinion), and no doubt you’ll continue to put in the work and effort to be a better player and teammate. As someone else has already said: “Stay well and give 'em hell.” This is YOUR dream; go for it!

2x pro are my favourite sticks. They may not have the best puck playing capabilities and feel more like a foam core but they are way more durable. My two 2s pros lasted me the same as you (3-4 weeks each) and my two 2 x pros have lasted my 8 months each so far and still going strong. I feel that you break a lot of 2s’s on the shaft, they have shitty impact protection. When you hit them with your finger nail they even feel “tingy” if that makes sense. Just feel extremely hollow and weak to the touch. But that’s just me.

Insane!!! I would use wood sticks from Canadian Tire or wherever for $50 bucks a piece until I made a team that was paying for comps. I was wondering If these days you have your own personal pattern goal stick? Also why are goalies not taping the entire toe of the blade, and the heel of the stick and up a bit on the paddle? I find hardly any tape on the stick very odd. I really haven’t seen an existing pattern out there that I would have liked if I still played. Used to really enjoy experimenting with putting different curves on a wood goal stick heating them up with the torch and getting a nice heel curve with an upshoot going on.

Hey trav Our starting goalie just left our team with a 1 week notice before our next game and no reason why. We tried convincing him but it didn't end up working and he just left. Are there any reasons you think there might be why he left. We're a solid team and he gets 10-15 shots per game. Love the editing style and new videos. Keep It Up!

VIDEO IDEA Buy a stick from 3 different price points and compare them.. BTW: football (soccer) equipment is the same.. You'll buy a 200-300$ boots and they fall apart in 3 months even if you don't use them so much..

This is why I go through tape 5 times faster than most players. I’ve only been playing for 2 weeks and I’ve already gone through a whole roll of white tape. I’m dirt poor and can’t afford for my stick to break right now.

First of all, you’re still sexy. Secondly, I feel goalie sticks are not manufactured for the work they are put into. Stopping 80-100mph shots, the sticks need more structure and better quality. Sadly, the companies build them so they eventually break to ensure future purchases. It’s hockey product purchasing and economics. Also those beats would make me look almost as sexy as you👀

Quit buying the top of the line sticks. They don’t have the durability. They are specifically made with less material for less weight and more feel, but durability is a issue

They probably could make a indestructible stick. But it's not gonna perform the best.

I know you skate daily, but this is insane to me. A single Sher-Wood BPM120 has been lasting me months and I'm fairly hard on them. I honestly think the highest end sticks are sacrificing durability for performance. The lower price mid-level composites are a bit heavier but far more durable.See if Sher-Wood will sponsor you with some demo sticks. They seem like they're trying to re-invigorate their sales with the new line, so I'm sure they'd love some publicity.
