I Bought TWO 6.2L LS Blocks & Rec Port Heads!

Got a smoking deal on a pair of 6.2L LS blocks and 823 rectangle port cylinder heads! I’m definitely addicted to aluminum blocks and have so many build ideas in mind. We don’t plan on building these engines right away as we have too many other projects on the go, but I couldn’t pass up on this opportunity.
I promised the seller I would not say how much I paid for them (as part of the deal).
Also, Duke the 1956 Chevy Wagon makes the best engine hauler.

Nice ls3's you have there. I had an ls2 .030 over with a 4.1 stroker crank(418). Gmpp ported ls3 heads, stock intake w fast 98 tb. 11.7 pistons. I had a a cam guy spec me a cam to run 93 octane pump gas. 235/250 600lift 113+4 good street cam with a 3600 stall. Actual stall at the track was 4000. 6.9@98mph 1/8 mile. 1.52 60ft. I am putting in a new ls3 in the 98 T/A this time. Using the same crank in the ls3(427CID)with a zero lash solid roller with 700 lift speced by Cam Motion for 93 octane, Fast mid runner intake and 102mm tb, 11.7 pistons, Dart pro1 ls3 heads. These heads make 700+ hp N/A on a 440 cid engine and work really well on NOS, 900 hp. Red 98 T/A ,3600 Yank, 4:10 Moser 9", Hoosier 16/295/50(10.5x28)DDR2. All the suspension mods too. 3300lbs

Danny was right about the combination of parts that can be used to create the desired amount of Horsepower. If longevity is what you want a more moderate build will get it for You. Who needs 850 HP to get to the market on a daily trip. A 9.5 piston set with the right cam and aftermarket goodies, on that block will get you 650 at least and you can still get it to run on mid-grade gas.

If your going to stroke it make sure you get some H beam rods @ 6.125 for less piston to wall friction. Lot's of shelf pistons, recessed valve slots on flat tops made for this. 4.1 and 4.0 stroke is common up to about 12.1 compression that can run pump gas with a good Cam designer like Cam Motion cams and others. They can rev up past 7500 rpm with power if you like. A good cnc port job would be worth it being stroked. Just grind reliefs at the bottom of the cylinders for the rod bolts to clear. Even the stock Ls f-body pan has a slot at the front to make room for rod clearance that needs to be opened up about .040 deeper for the larger rod bolts that come on H-beams. It's a lot easier than it sounds with the blocks being aluminum.

The last three's boards a little bit bigger than 4 in, From the factory, the LS3 comes with a 4.065-inch bore, 6.098-inch rods, and a 3.622-inch crank. This yields 6.2L or 376 cubic inches.

There is a wrecking yard here that sells ANY engine for $200...from a 2.6 Mitsubishi in a Chrysler K-car to diesels, and that includes the LS stuff (which I have no interest in) ..they even had a 240ci 6 cyl in a 71 Ford pickup....that is IF you can get there as soon as it comes in, the late model stuff goes FAST. I picked up a 4.0 Explorer engine and a roller cam 302 for under $400 Im using them for builders but both were in running condition. Any transmission is $125..from Turbo 350s and A-500s to Allisons and hybrid transmissions.

If I had the money I would definitely use em to for the 2 Canadian Muscle Cars 🇨🇦 (like the 6.2L LS3 with factory ported cylinder heads, an upgraded cam, and a ported factory intake manifold for the 68 Beaumont SD and the 6.2L LS3 based 408 Stroker with ported factory cylinder heads, upgraded cam, and a GM LS single plane intake with a Holley Terminator EFI for the 66 Acadian Canso SD).
