The floating display is the most interesting part to me, even though the flickering is annoying. Am I seeing the first primitive form of a new display technology, much like the first tiny LCD displays? Thanks for this video, Jackie!

It's not new. They've had displays like that where the thing swiped side to side instead of up and down when I was a kid in the 90s. People had clocks / display items that gave messages with them but also I think I had a Harry Potter toy as a kid that used that some how. This one is pretty nice looking though.

I've seen one in the store and the screen does not flicker IRL, the flickering is caused by the shutter speed of the camera when filming

its a retina persitent display and its genius in this. so you can pet it.. and see the 2d pet react.. imagine nintendo releasing mario and zelda bitzee and you vould pet mario... etc it will catch up i hope its genius.

Seems like a pretty cute little game. Like maybe if you are on a break, waiting for a ride or at a doctor's office. Hopefully they expand on them to make the small improvements on how loud it is and the vibration. But for a little pocket toy that reminds me of Nano, Gigapets and Tamagotchi, it's cute.

For those wondering it doesn’t flicker at all the reason it flickers on camera is because of the fps if you are epileptic you have nothing to worry about

It has a seizure warning on the box, so yes, people with epilepsy and sensitivity to light/motion still need to take care.

It does flicker irl I've seen some on store and they have a thing you can pull on to open it and it flickers which hurts my neurodivergent eyes

I also wanna point out how much I appreciate this change of pace as far as the games you play on your gaming channel, Jackie. Maybe you can do more toys with built-in games every now and then in the future?

Purrmaid! One thing I don't like about virtual pets with a physical component is that you have to keep interacting with them constantly or else they go to sleep and don't wake up until you interact with them again. Idk, when I was little I always felt pressure to keep playing with them. Meanwhile things like tamagotchis and giga pets keep doing their own things regardless of whether or not you're playing with them. I'm curious which category this pet falls under. It looks like fun!

@@ShintogaDeathAngel Well yes, it takes a long time for them to die. But what I mean is that they just keep booping around the screen, going to the bathroom, getting sick, sleeping, or even dying etc, without any input from you. With something like furbys and aquapets, you had to keep interacting with them or else they'd just shut off within a few minutes. It makes sense to conserve batteries, but I always just lost interest in them.

This is cute! The flickering is a little much and the loud mechanical sound is too. I really hope they can improve upon that soon. I like this idea a lot and wish to see better improved versions in the future.

Honestly this would be a nope from me. Yes it is cute, the fact that we have planty of pets to discover is cool BUT...I am not epileptic and still I found the flickering extremely annoying. If it annoys me, a person without any such problems, I can only imagine how triggering it might be for people with epilepsy. I also find the screen not very legible. To be fair I'd take a Tamagotchi over this any day.

Yep. They should put a warning on the box. How awful would it be to gift to a child with a seizure disorder. You would feel horrible if the poor kid had a seizure. I have epilepsy and couldn't look at the screen.

I wonder if the flickering is just because we are seeing it through the camera lens, just like some lights can flicker on camera but don't to the naked eye

Yes, sometimes screens appear to flicker on recording due to the frame rate not matching 1:1 with the recording's frame rate. We have a family recording of baby me dancing to Elmo on TV where the TV looks absolutely horrendous due to this effect.

Heh, I got a duvet cover set a while ago that was called Purrmaids (and was cats with fish tails from the waist down... it's cute but on a side not I'm wondering what fish heads with cat butts would look like 😂)

I think this is cute idea. A little bit bulky for my liking and the vibration noise was a bit too loud. I hope they would do small improvements and adjustions, like the noise be little softer and quieter and possibly make another version with actual screen and add litte buttons.

Having grown up in the beginnings of Tamagotchi's and Giga Pets, I find this really cute. My only question is does is really flicker and blink like that. I've developed seizure issues over the years, so that would be a crucial selling point for me.

Apparently there is a little bit of flicker, but not as much as it looks in videos. There is a seizure warning for the product, though! You might have to ask your doctor.

There's another cute handheld virtual pet product that's called CircuitPet from the brand CircuitMess. It's apparently an educational toy where you put the electronics together yourself and then code the game. The gameplay looks really adorable, and I know you tried a programming toy before with the Harry Potter wand, so maybe you'd be interested in this, too. I have no idea what the reviews are like or how popular it is, I just thought it looked really cute.

YES!! I was thinking that. Had to put down my phone and not look at the screen. The strobe effect was horrible. To be honest even without that I'd have to say I'd get bored pretty quick with this toy. I'd be worried kids would too. That's a lot of money for a toy a child might be interested in for a day and then move on.

So I have a story about bitzee so I was gonna buy one and my mom press the wrong button so she bought me a case for the bitzee and it wasn’t the actual thing. And I got mad but I had to wait for another five days and finally I got it today. I was so happy and I think I already have all like my first five pets already and they’re all almost super Bitsys, so I was really happy about that.

My daughter is getting one for Christmas. We will see! I have always heard Mercat, but since you said purrmaid, I like that term better!

Thank you so much for the video of bitzee I’m in Philadelphia most stores sold out but keeping my fingers crossed I found a store I was able to order it on line for pick up today! The video was awesome it helped me to decide to purchase for my son! I think you've should've gone into the settings it might have had volume control and maybe a way to turn of the vibrations otherwise it's pretty cute like a super tomegatchi with more then one pet the lights themselves isn't my favorite thing but it's still nice.

1 I think hers is broken. Another vid you hear the sounds but don't get the clicking/buzzing. It seems that plus camera refresh rate.
