I Bought the OUYA Console in 2021... but why??

I've heard and read about the OUYA console for years, but I've never played one. So I decided to change that, and I ordered an OUYA from eBay a while back! We'll check out the OUYA in this video and see what it's all about. The OUYA was considered a failure, so it'll be interested to take a look at the console. Should you buy an OUYA??

So, I used to own an OUYA back when they first released, and the store interface was pretty much a bunch of rectangle tiles with short clips that played once you set the cursor on them (allowing you to preview the game and what it was about). Oh yeah, You also forgot to show that the controller had a small area on its face where you could slide a finger and have a mouse cursor pop up on screen and you could use that in certain games that required touch-only controls. All in all, I initially was happy with the purchase, but ended up breaking my small OUYA cube because it fell off of my TV stand and I accidentally kicked it hard enough for it to hit the wall and break a piece off inside the Cubed Body itself... Oh, the body is super light and is being weighed down by small weights inside of the OUYA itself. You should do a teardown!

The Ambernic handhelds are kinda neat, and they have entire communities porting games over and writing new firmware for them, with the neat little detail that they run a stripped down Linux system instead of Android. They're mostly focused on emulation but people have made easy to install game ports for AM2R, Undertale, Quake, and even the Marathon Games that were made by Bungie before Halo. I got the RG351MP, love to play games on it, and the metal body of it feels nice and solid so I can just toss it in my pocket without a second thought to play anything from NES to N64 anywhere, it even has two SD card slots that can handle some decent sized cards so it's going to be hard to fill completely
Did some Googling and it appears that the modding scene for this console is extremely small, so to anyone who knows anything about this console, is there anything worth doing or should I just toss it out my window?

Kudos to Nintendo because even though they shut down the Wii Shop a few years ago you can still connect your Wii to the Wii Shop and re-download any previously purchased digital games. Cool note, if you buy a used unmodified Wii you can do this to see if any are available as long as they weren’t transferred to a Wii U since the games are registered to the console not the user.
A console said to destroy the competitors, it destroyed itself instead
You can do a mod so to speak where you plug in a USB A to the back of the Ouya and the other end to a computer.. add a config file and you can download stuff from the ouya store.. not everything works but it's a lot of fun seeing what does..
You can pop of the d pad and the left joy con and switch them out so it can have a play station controller style
Ouya was DOA because it wasn't doing anything you couldn't already do 3 or 4 years prior with a rooted phone, HDMI to mini HDMI, and a PS3 Controller. I didn't have a console around 2009-2015 so I just ran emulators on my TV at home with my old Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. I also created a custom TV UI that worked well with my PS3 controller and a bunch of Google Play games with controller support. I'd love to make something like this again.
It’s a shame the Ouya flopped. The concept sounds pretty cool tbh

So does any PC hooked up to a TV. From any android box to a Raspberry Pi preloaded with emulators and a custom UI, (essentially what this thing was). I wanted one of these so bad when it came out.
3:35 They probably have to do it because there's no vibration motor. If you put the battery at the back it's probably be unbalance.
Game wise I think most if not all of the Ouya titles have been preserved as part of No-Intro. If I remember correctly they should be in APK format and easily side loaded if you ever wanted to do a follow up of more game play.
I am glad (for ur store) that u sell stuff for reasonable prices and not like every youtuber making their prices 3x bigger then normal
The UI looks really good for it’s time. Maybe they should’ve focused on the software side like STEAM.
When you click the build num like that it opens the dev options. Which as you see is already opened. Should give ya a lil better control over the ouya. And if im not mistaken you can put play store on it and get games that way.

OnLive was before Ouya. I had an OnLive console and it worked pretty well but I had very fast internet and lived closed to an OnLive center. OnLive was basically Stadia but in 2008.
I think the mail company checked the contents cuz it was shipped with a battery, if it was bought used. I don’t think it’s welcome to send batteries in the mail when it isn’t noted. Sometimes they open packages and look inside so they coulda just left it that way so it’d be safer and say hey, this is clear to us and we don’t want this.
